Chapter 1418 Visit
Charles forgot about the unhappy events that took cest night after seeing the smile on the faces
of his children. He took turns in lifting rk and Shirley into the air, cherishing their beautiful,ughing
faces.
"Dad, can Shirley and I visit Mom at the hospital today? I haven''t seen her in a while and I''m sure she
would love to see us." rk tugged at his father''s sleeve, pleading with all his heart.
"Daddy, please! Please bring us to visit Mom. I know she must miss us too. I believe she will recover
sooner when she see us."
Shirley pulled at her father''s other hand, slightly pouting her lips while giving him the puppy-dog eyes.
Charles didn''t stand a chance against his children''s insistence and he gave in. "Okay, okay. Let''s have
breakfast first. After that, I will take you to see Mom. But you have to be well-behaved at the hospital,
okay? I need you to promise that you won''t disturb her, okay?"
rk and Shirley nodded their heads without any argument.
"Yes, yes, yes. We will be well-behaved. We won''t disturb her. We promise." rk then gestured with
his hand to "zip" his lips up, which amused Charles.
"Let''s get ready now so we can go to see Mom." Shirley jumped out of her bed as she couldn''t wait to
see her mother.
Charles tried to dress the children, but half the time he looked out of ce as he had little experience.
His valiant efforts led to rk wearing his shirt backwards and Shirley''s arm in a wrong sleeve.
Frustrated, the children lost their patience andined, "Dad has no idea what he''s doing!"
Before long, they arrived at the hospital.
Charles walked in with the kids, one in each hand. When they arrived at the door to Sheryl''s ward,
Charles squatted down and looked at them solemnly. "Do you remember what you''ve promised to me?"
"Yes. We won''t disturb her. Don''t worry about that," Shirley replied with her hands sped behind her
back, acting like a grown up.
"Dad, will we be disturbing her by going in since she still needs time to rest?"
rk asked with a serious expression on his face.
Charles was amazed to hear what his kids were saying because he didn''t expect them to be so
thoughtful and mature, despite their age.
"No, you won''t. I have talked to Mom over the phone and she said she couldn''t wait to see the both of
you," Charles replied with a smile.
rk nodded, "Okay! I will look after Shirley and we won''t disturb Mommy."
"Yes, I will be a good girl." Shirley raised her head high.
Charles was smitten by his children''s adorable words.
Deep in his heart, he thanked Sheryl for giving him two wonderful children. They were the best thing
that had happened to him in his entire life.
Before they all stepped into the ward, Charles stopped and helped to organize Shirley''s hair. He then
stood up and said, "Well, kids, we''re finally going to see your mother."
Shirley and rk smiled at each other as their hearts sang with a whoop of undisguised glee.
As Charles slowly pushed the door open, he saw Sheryl standing before her bed, lost in deep thought.
The moment Shirley saw her mother, she couldn''t keep her emotions contained and ran to her.
"Mommy, I''ve missed you so much!"
Shirley''s voice brought Sheryl back to reality and caught her by surprise. Sheryl stood there in utter
disbelief and time seemed to have slowed down, as she saw her children running to her, while her
husband stood at the door in silence.
"Shirley!" Sheryl fell to her knees and took Shirley into her loving arms. She had been longing to feel
her daughter''s touch for a long time.
"Mommy, did you miss me?" Shirley had been dreaming of this moment ever since she got kidnapped.
At longst, she was in the warm andfortable embrace of her mother''s arms and she didn''t want to
let go.
"Of course, my darling. I''ve missed you so much. You''re such a good girl. I love you." Tears escaped
Sheryl''s eyes and her voice trembled even though she tried to suppress her emotions.
"Shirley,e down. Mommy hasn''tpletely recovered yet. She must be tired already," rk said
as he walked towards them and tugged at Shirley''s leg.
Sheryl bent down and gave her son a kiss on the forehead. She slowly put Shirley down and took their
hands in each hand.
"I know that you two have been good kids so I''ve prepared a surprise for you." Sheryl winked at them.
"What? A surprise? Mommy, what is it?" Shirley''s voice cracked with excitement and she turned around
to face Charles. "Dad,e over here. Mommy has a surprise for us!" She had a wild look in her eyes

"Naughty girl." Charles shook his head,ughing at the look on Shirley''s face. He walked over to Sheryl
and looked at her affectionately. "You need to be resting. I didn''t know you had prepared gifts for them.
You must be tired."
Sheryl shook her head. She then stood up, walked to the nightstand and pulled the drawer open,
revealing two paper boats stashed away neatly.
"Wow, boats! I love boats!" Shirley ran and grabbed the boats without hesitation. She handed one to
rk and said, "rk, this one is yours."
rk''s gleeful face indicated his happiness and he said, "Thank you, Mommy. This is the best surprise
ever."
Sheryl felt both contented and frightened at the sight of her happy family and thought of how
unpredictable life could be.
Just a few days ago, she was worried whether she would be able to see her daughter again. But right
at this moment, she was in the same room with her loved ones—her husband and her children.
Regardless of whatever unexpected challenges life would throw at her, she just wished for this moment
tost as long as possible. She wanted to spend the rest of her life with them, happily ever after.
Sheryl and Charles talked while the kids yed by themselves.
rk came up with the idea of filling up the basin with water and Shirley put the boats and watched
them float.
A few minutester, Shirley tugged at her brother''s arm and said, "What if the boats sink?"
"Don''t worry about that, silly girl. The teacher said that the mass of paper is much lighter than the mass
of water. So, as long as the boat isn''t carrying anything, it won''t sink,"
