Chapter 1413 The Result He Wanted

A jolt of pain hit Nick squarely in the chest, like he was struck by lightning. He almost passed out from

the dizziness. He staggered as he tried hard to maintain his bnce and steady himself.

Why would such a thing happen to him? Why would Cassie do such a thing to him?

Why? And why should he see this again?

Although he had mentally prepared himself in the past few days, it felt like nothingpared to when

he saw Cassie in another man''s arms and being kissed by the said man. It felt so painful as if his heart

    was shredded into pieces.

    It hurt so, so bad.

He clutched his chest with his right hand. He didn''t have the gall to walk closer and look at them, for he

was afraid that he would lose self control and beat up the man senseless.

Things would be much more awkward then. After all, Cassie had made her choice, so why would he

confront them, and get an answer he didn''t want to hear, and embarrass himself in public?

Nick took a few steps back. Then he turned around, and ran away until they disappeared from his sight.

He ran and ran, like there was a monster after him.

Wind blew on his face as he ran away. Tears welled up in his eyes and rolled down his cheeks because

    of the harsh wind.

''I''m not crying. I''ve just got a piece of groan in my eye, '' he thought.

Nick swiped the tears off, and then quickened his pace.

Meanwhile in the hallway, Jordan was about to release Cassie after he saw that Nick was gone, but

    Cassie pushed him away.

    "Cassie, listen to me…"

Cassia, however, was too shocked and angry to hear him out.

Jordan''s cheek stung when Cassie pped him, then she ran away with tear-filled eyes.

Jordan''s eyes narrowed as he touched his cheek.

It hurt, his right cheek burned painfully, but he couldn''t feel any pain at all. Instead, his lips curved into a

    smile.

Cassie pped him hard and it did hurt, but it wasn''t a big deal. He kissed her just now, and it was

worth it. Now he and Cassie were even. And, that man ran away. He kissed Cassie on purpose in front

of the man so that he wouldn''t bother Cassie again.

In the end, he got the result he wanted.

''Cassie is mine. We''re meant to be. Nothing can take her away from me, '' Jordan thought.

The road was peaceful and there was no traffic as Charles sped up to the Dream Garden.

Once he got home, he headed straight to Shirley''s bedroom. The thought of Shirley crying and being

    scared tortured his wits.

But when he opened the door, his heart immediately melted. His pursed lips turned into a smile.

There in the room was rk, who held Shirley in his arms. Heforted her softly and wiped away her

tears from time to time. The way rk took care of his sister made him look like an adult. Soon

enough, Shirley gradually calmed down and stopped crying. There were still some tears on her face,

which made Charles feel bad for her.

However, Charles wore a bright smile on his face. He was relieved and delighted that rk knew how

to take care of his little sister. The two siblings didn''t notice him until he walked inside the room and

    coughed.

At that moment, Shirley jumped out of the bed when she saw Charles. She rushed to him and gave him

a tight hug, like a ko to a tree. Shirley was Charles'' sweet burden. He put his hands under her feet

so she wouldn''t fall off him.

"Dad, you''re finally home!" Shirley eximed. She raised her head and looked curiously at her father''s

eyes. "Where''s Mom? I haven''t seen her since I got home."

In turn, Charles wondered how to exin it to Shirley. He was afraid that it would be too much for her to

take in. What if she insisted on going to the hospital to visit Sheryl? His daughter was just getting better

and there was no way that Charles would take her to the hospital, a ce full of bacteria and easy to

    get infection.

But, he also didn''t want to lie to Shirley. She was so eager to see her mom, and she had the right to

    know the truth.

On the other hand, rk knew that Sheryl was in the hospital. He thought that his mom caught a cold,

but didn''t know that the true reason his mother stayed there was because someone had tried to murder

    her.

rk missed his mother too, since he hadn''t seen Sheryl in the past few days. He too raised his head

and looked at Charles with wide eyes, as if to question him. rk and Shirley were like two sunflowers

who faced Charles like he was their sunshine, and waited for his answer.

"Your mom is sick and she''s staying in the hospital right now, but don''t worry. She''ll be discharged

soon, then you can see her." Charles tried his best to say it in a rxed tone, for he didn''t want his

    children to worry.

However, Shirley''s eyes welled up with tears the moment she heard what Charles had said. Her brows

knitted together, and she was obviously worried.

"Mom must have been having a hard time now since she''s sick. Could you take me to the hospital,

Dad? I miss Mom so much. Besides, Mom will be so happy to see me. She will feel less painful by

    then."

Shirley''s words moved Charles. She was so little, yet she knew how to care for her parents. How lucky

he and Sheryl were to have a wonderful daughter like her.

But Charles just pulled rk and Shirley into his arms and hugged them. "Mom needs more rest. We''d

better not interrupt her. How about we wait for her at home and throw her a wee party when she

Luckily, rk was sensible and considerate. "Shirley, don''t worry. I''m sure Mom would recover soon.

Besides, Dad and I are here with you," rk agreed and helped his fatherfort Shirley.

    Finally, Shirley nodded and smiled.

After that, Charles spent a few more minutes with the kids in the bedroom, and waited for Shirley to

fully calm down before he left.

When he closed the door behind him, the smile on his face faded. He got annoyed when he thought

    about persuading Melissa.

He knew her very well. She was stubborn and hard to convince. Sometimes, he wondered why he had

    such a mother.

But still, Charles was determined to kick Le out of the family. He would drive her out whether Melissa

agreed or not. Le should even be grateful for his decision. After all, Charles previously considered

bringing her to justice and sending her to prison. He even thought about hiring someone to teach her a

lesson, to let her know that there was someone in this family that she couldn''t mess with.

However, Sheryl had been too nice. She always put others first before herself. Now that Sheryl had

asked Charles to forgive Le, he respected her decision. But he could no longer let her stay in the

    house.

And if Le wanted to cause trouble again, he wouldn''t let her off so easily. He decided to keep the

evidences and if ever necessary, he would hand them to the police.

After a while of thinking, Charles walked to Melissa''s bedroom.

He raised his hand and knocked on the door.

It was a few minutes before Melissa finally opened the door. She didn''t expect to see Charles, and her

brows furrowed instinctively. Every time Charles came to her, nothing good had ever happened.

Disappointment filled her eyes the second she saw him.

Still, Charles just ignored her and walked inside.
