Chapter 598 Is This An Excuse
By the time she stepped out, the sky was already dark, while heavy traffic filled the streets. When she
caught a glimpse of rainbow-like colors from afar, she realized that they were from a Ferris wheel after
taking a closer look.
It wasn''t until she arrived in her car that she could see that it was a small-scale amusement park.
Rumor had it that a local tycoon had proposed to his wife on a Ferris wheel, leading him to build the
amusement park so that he could share the beauty of a Ferris wheel with the city''s residents.
Given that he could make a profit from the amusement park and have fun with his wife there every day,
it was a fantastic way to kill two birds with one stone.
Due to the amusement park''s strategic location—surrounded by malls and hotels—it would be packed
with visitors every night and had be one of the city''sndmarks.
Just when Genevieve was queueing to buy a ticket, she heard a deep voice call out from behind her.
“Ms. Rachford.”
Turning around by reflex, she was greeted by the sight of a towering man wearing a cap and face
mask. With his head lowered, his eyes were staring intently at her.
Having recognized him instantly, Genevieve was stunned. “Why are you here?”
“When I saw how beautiful the Ferris wheel was on my way home, I decided toe by and take a
look.”
Realizing that it was Genevieve''s turn, Bruce pulled out some notes from his leather wallet and stuffed
them through the ticket counter window. “Two tickets for the Ferris wheel, please.”
When he leaned across her, Genevieve felt as if she was cocooned in his arms.
As she caught a whiff of his fragrant scent, she was beset by a nostalgic sensation. Nheless, she
squeezed her way to the side to put some distance between them.
Upon leaving the ticket booth together, they headed to the park''s entrance. “When Joash informed me
about the visit to the art exhibition, I thought it was you who invited me. Thus, I was surprised to see
Ms. Benson there.”
Detecting the displeasure in his voice, Genevieve felt a little guilty over the incident.
“Charlotte was excited to meet you but couldn''t get a hold of you. Hence, she got me to help her and I
agreed to do so.”
Cognizant that she was put in a spot, Bruce replied in a deep voice, “The next time she asks you to do
something simr, just tell it as it is to Joash. I''ll naturally handle it and won''t make things difficult for
you.”
Genevieve threw him a nce with a curious tilt of her head. “Do you know who Charlotte is?”
“I do. Her father is that famous real estate tycoon,” Bruce casually replied with his hand in his pocket.
“She''s interested in you,” Genevieve revealed.
Given how precious Charlotte is to the influential Mr. Benson—who only had herter in his life—
Bruce''s career could get a huge boost from her father if he got together with Charlotte.
Bruce simply grunted in acknowledgment.
Both of them chatted as they walked and quickly arrived at the bottom of the Ferris wheel. After waiting
for a few minutes, they managed to get into one of its capsules.
Watching the Ferris wheel ascend in the dark night, Genevieve began to feel fear creep into her.
Meanwhile, Bruce, who was seated opposite her, finally answered her question from earlier, “I suffer
from a strong sense of misogyny. Therefore, the closer she gets to me, the more I''ll resent her.”
“Isn''t that just an excuse?” Genevieve doubted his words. “Even though I''m your boss, I''m still a
woman.”
Recalling the previous incident, she asked him by reflex, “If you hate women, why did you feed me the

medication with your mouth that night...”
She was suddenly filled with embarrassment before she finished her sentence.
As a look of amusement shed across Bruce''s eye, he consciously tried to put her at ease. “It''s not an
excuse. I just feelfortable interacting with you.”
Even though Genevieve refused to let her imagination run wild, she couldn''t deny how flirtatious his
words were.
By the time the capsule they were in had reached high into the sky, she fixed her gaze on the metal
door instead of looking out. “I''m already married, and my children are already four. Therefore, there''s
no need for you to waste your time on me. That aside, I''ll still look out for you on the ount of
Johanna.”
Leaning back into his chair, Bruce observed her exquisite features. “Ms. Rachford, are you interested in
having supper?”
