Chapter 589 One Last Chance
Undeterred by Coco''s refusal, Sylvie whispered, “Think carefully, Coco. My granddad is Old Mr. Zeigler.
N?vel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive ? material.
Even if Genevieve traces the theft to me, all I need to do is apologize. She can''t do anything to me.
You, on the other hand, are different. Granddad only allows me to work in the entertainment industry
because he loves me. That doesn''t mean he approves of any grandchildren-inw running in these
circles. After all, the Zeiglers have a military legacy.”
Sylvie''s tone was gentle, yet it did little to mask the threat in her words. “Once I say a few words to
Granddad, you can kiss your dream of marrying into the Zeigler family goodbye.”
Coco gritted her teeth in anger and red at Sylvie.
The final nail in the coffin was when Sylvie tidied Coco''s hair and added, “You''re out of options, Coco. If
you refuse to help me, you can kiss your entertainment career goodbye too; I swear to that.”
s, to preserve her dreams of marrying into the Zeigler family and her entertainment career, Coco
relented. “You better remember your promise!”
A relieved smile appeared on Sylvie''s face. “Of course.”
Meanwhile, Genevieve''s investigation of the servers had brought her to a waitress standing at the head
of the second row. She caught a whiff of a familiar scent from the waitress'' hands.
“It''s you,” Genevieve dered confidently.
The waitress returned Genevieve''s gaze. Panic flitted through her gaze before she decided to y
dumb. “Miss, I''ve never met your friend before. Why would I steal her medication?”
Genevieve exined, “My friend carries a traditional medicine pouch in her purse, along with her
frequently consumed medication. The stolen bottle would surely have the smell of that traditional
medicine.”
Only then did Charlotte and the rest realize why Genevieve insisted on sniffing the servers'' hands.
The waitress lowered her head in resignation.
However, Genevieve had no ns to me the waitress. Instead, she asked gently, “I know you''re just
a server on this cruise ship, and you have no hatred toward my friend. As long as you tell me who paid
you off to do this, I promise Ms. Benson won''t reprimand you. In fact, I''ll give you a reward myself.”
Charlotte chimed in, “I won''t me you if you tell us who the mastermind is.”
Reassured by their words, the waitress admitted, “I don''t know who she is, though. When she sought
me out, she wore a mask and a hat—”
Before she could finish her sentence, Coco stepped out of the crowd and confessed, “I paid her off to
steal the medication.”
Genevieve narrowed her eyes in suspicion and stared intently at Coco. “You don''t have the guts to do
something like this, Coco. Did you forget what I said to youst time?”
Her icy re caused Coco to involuntarily shudder.
To her credit, Coco regained herposure quickly and sneered, “Why wouldn''t I dare to do so? I was
so humiliated by what you said to me in the restroom the other day. You have no idea how much I hate
you! I know Jane has a serious heart condition and that she''s your friend, so I bribed someone to steal
her medication.”
She even looked at the waitress and asked, “Didn''t I pull you aside in the ballroom and give you fifty
thousand to steal the medication?”
The waitress nced at her and nodded. “Yes.”
“What about Javier?” Genevieve continued, “How did you lure him out of the ballroom?”
Coco stiffened in surprise. She did not know Sylvie had pulled such a trick as well.
Despite her anger at Sylvie for dragging her into this mess, Coco could only lie, “Men don''t know
anything once they''re drunk. They''re too easy to lure. I wanted him to bully Jane.”
Genevieve''s expression darkened, and she pounced on Coco, dragging the actress to the deck of the
cruise ship.
There she pinned Coco against the deck railing and questioned, “I''m giving you onest chance to tell
me the truth. Were you, or were you not behind all this?”
