He had no clue about the drama between Flora, Joy, and the others. He figured they were all on the same team and should get along well. ""Whatever."
Flora''s lips curled slightly as she spoke nonchntly.
Adrian immediately sent someone to fetch them.
...
Downstairs, Joy and the others were still waiting in line, tired and hungry.
"This is all Flora''s fault. If it wasn''t for her, we wouldn''t be here thiste," Debra grumbled.
If it hadn''t been for Flora, they would''ve gone to eat right after the exam. They wouldn''t be stuck in this long line, starving and exhausted.
"Just thinking about Flora dozing off during the exam makes me so mad I can''t even eat," Debra continued, her voice low to avoid catching Mr. Tanner''s attention. She didn''t want to shout, but she needed to vent. Selene, standing behind her, shot her a cold nce.Content ? provided by N?velDrama.Org.
"Then maybe you shouldn''t eat," she said.
"I wasn''t talking to you. Why do you have to butt in?" Debra snapped, clearly irritated.
"Because your whining is getting on my nerves," Selene replied with a smirk. "Besides, even if Flora did sleep through the exam, she still scored higher than you."
Selene knew Flora found the test ridiculously easy. If Flora imed she could ace it, she would.
"Ha! We all know you''re tight with Flora, but you don''t have to be her cheerleader," Joy said, chuckling in frustration.
Flora had slept through the entire exam, randomly filled in a few answers, and still scored higher? That would make them look likeplete idiots.
Mr. Tanner, overhearing the argument, felt a headacheing on. Not again.
He was about to reprimand them when a staff member approached.
"Is this the Austenberg team?"
"Yes," Mr. Tanner replied.
The staff member smiled. "Pleasee up to the third floor for a meal. A private room has been arranged for you."
Mr. Tanner was taken aback. Having brought teams to Lone Ind twice before, he knew the third floor was reserved for the organizers and Lone Ind''s own people. He had ever been invited there himself.
Now, they were being asked to go up?
"It must be Ms. Abbey! She must''ve sent someone to invite us!" Debra eximed, excitement lighting up her face.
"Looks like we''re riding on Joy''s coattails again," she added.
They knew they couldn''t have pulled this off on their own. It had to be an invitation for Joy, and they were just lucky to be included. Everyone knew Abbey thought highly of Joy.
Joy didn''t say anything, but she couldn''t hide her smug smile. It felt good to be acknowledged by Abbey.
The staff member looked puzzled. Wasn''t it Mr. Kruz who arranged this? How did Ms. Abbeye into the picture?
He realized they''d misunderstood but didn''t bother correcting them. His job was to escort them upstairs.
"Master, let''s go up for a meal," Joy said to Mr. Tanner, pride evident in her voice. It was as if she was
saying, "See, Master? Look how
much i''m boosting your reputation. What has Flora done for you?"
Mr. Tanner nodded, feeling a bit pleased. It was his first chance to go to the third floor, and he wasn''t about to pass it up.
"Selene, take a good look. Without
Joy, you''d still be stuck in line. You keep following Flora around, but what has she ever done for you? She doesn''t even acknowledge you," Debra said.
