"Shouldn''t the boss be back by now?"
After finishing a game, Beck threw down his cards and checked his watch. It was already 5:40 PM.
"He should be back any minute-"
Moss didn''t even get to finish his sentence before a car horn red outside. Instantly, he jumped up, and Beck, along with their two bodyguards, followed suit.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDra/ma.O(r)g!
A sleek, dark blue Maserati rolled up and came to a stop outside the vi. Moss and Beck exchanged confused nces. Whose car was that? It definitely wasn''t their boss''s.
The car door swung open, and a pair of stylish boots hit the ground. The moment they saw the woman''s face, Moss and Beck''s expressions shifted dramatically.
What was Ms. Abbey doing here!?
Abbey strode purposefully toward them, Elijah at her side, nked by a squad of bodyguards. There was no avoiding this. As she approached, Moss took the initiative to greet her, very politely, "Ms. Abbey." Abbey nodded curtly, "Where''s Connor?"
Knowing Moss was Connor''s right-hand man, she showed him a bit of courtesy. Moss was about to answer when Beck jumped in hurriedly, "The boss went to pick up Ms. Flora from school. They''re probably grocery shopping now. They should be back soon."
He was the number one fan of the boss and Ms. Flora! After saying that, Abbey should get the hint and leave, right?
As Beck finished speaking, the atmosphere tensed up, turning awkward. Abbey''s face darkened. Mentioning Flora in front of her-wasn''t Beck just trying to rub salt in the wound? And grocery shopping? That distinguished man also goes grocery shopping? And with Flora?
The thought alone seemed absurd,
but
Feltldn''t lie, so... Had their
rtionship progressed that far? Her hear twisted painfully, but she kept her face neutral.
"I see..." Abbey feigned indifference. "No worries, I''ll wait for him inside."
With that, she moved to walk into the vi, but Moss and Beck blocked her path.
"Ms. Abbey, if there''s anything you need, you can tell us, and we''ll pass the message to the boss."
"It''s nothing much, just wanted to see Connor, have a chat. I''ll wait inside. You do your thing." Abbey''s voice was strained with displeasure.
But Moss and Beck didn''t budge, and the bodyguards behind them formed a solid, silent wall.
Abbey''s face turned icy. She hade all this way, and she couldn''t even get past the front door? What a joke!
"Are you deaf? Didn''t you hear what ourdy said?" Elijah shouted angrily. "Move aside now!"
Beck''s expression hardened, while
Moss remained polite but firm, "Ms. Abbey, the boss isn''t back yet, and we don''t have the authority to let outsiders in."
Outsiders...
Abbey clenched her hand at her side, a fleeting shadow crossing her eyes.
"Ourdy is no outsider!" Elijah, visibly upset, hands on hips, yelled, "The White family and the Falcone family have been engaged for generations. Ourdy is to marry Mr. Connor. She will be the mistress of this vi. You''re just a servant, aekey, and you dare block her?"
