Chapter 1166
Suddenly, her body quivered as a tall figure came into view.
It was Warren.
He appeared even leaner than thest time she had seen him in the hospital. Dressed in a sharp
suit and wearing a stern expression, he triggered a tingling sensation in her nose, and her eyes
started to well up with tears.
In that moment of seeing Warren, Amelia realized just how much she longed to meet him.
This longing wasn’t solely because of Riley. It was more about herself. She simply wanted to see
him, to know how well he had recovered, and to grasp the state of his health.
“Warren…” she called, but the volume of her voice was so faint that it was almost negligible.
Nevertheless, he heard her.
He had been walking and talking with someone as they exited the conference room. His steps
abruptly halted, and he looked in her direction.

When their eyes met, Amelia’s heart suddenly trembled.
In that instant, she felt like she might understand why Frederick had mentioned that Warren had
already moved on from their rtionship.
Because at that moment, the gaze he directed at her felt unnervingly unfamiliar, as if she were
nothing more than a casual acquaintance to him.
It was as though every trace of their past feelings had vanished from his
eyes.
Turning to the people beside him, Warren said, “You all can head back for now and ensure the
meeting materials from today are organized for meter.”
When Warren spoke in such a manner, even those among the people who were curious or eager to
witness the scene naturally didn’t dare to stick around.

In a short span, the group of people gradually entered the elevator and left.
Warren approached Amelia with deliberate slowness. His gaze remained indifferent, and his facial
expression unchanged.
“I recall telling Frederick that I didn’t want to see you.” His voice, cold and piercing, stung her ears
like a steel needle.
“I-I’m here to see you because of something very important,” she replied, gently biting her lip.
“If you encounter any difficulties, you can seek Frederick’s assistance. There’s no need for you to
see me,” he stated. “I’ll let it slide this time, Amelia, but I hope there won’t be a next time. I’ll have
Frederick take you back to the hotelter.”
With that, Warren turned and began to walk away.
Almost subconsciously, Amelia set the water ss she was holding on a nearby small round table
and then urgently grasped his arm with both hands. “Warren, no matter what, now that we’ve met,
can you please allow me to say what I need to say?”
He lowered his gaze to the hands gripping his arm, then slowly shifted his
gaze to her face. Suddenly, a sneer escaped his lips.
“Amelia, you’re still as self-righteous as ever. You said we should have no more debts between us,
so that’s how it should be. You said you didn’t. want me to appear before you again, so I kept my
distance. You’ve always been the one in control of our rtionship. Now, you want to meet and
meet we have. You want to talk, and I’m somehow obliged to listen?”
As he spoke, he began to pry her fingers away from his arm one by one.
Her fingers, however, remained stubbornly locked in ce, prompting him to increase his force.
Her fingers were starting to ache.
“If you don’t release your grip, you’ll only hurt yourself,” he added impatiently.
Amelia said anxiously, “Warren, I know I shouldn’t have disturbed you, but what I have to say is very
important. I-I have a very important friend named Riley Summer. She helped me immensely during
my time in prison and when I gave birth to Aider However, we lost contact over the
years. Now, Alicia knows Riley’s whereabouts…”
Amelia proceeded to express Alicia’s request. “I’m asking if you could draft a memorandum of
understanding and discuss it with yourwyers to work toward reducing Alicia’s charges to
probation.”
Warren gazed coldly at Amelia. “You’re asking me to spare a woman who almost got me killed?”
Amelia’s breath caught. While Alicia’s initial intent was to harm her, not Warren, the end result had
Warren on the operating table.
If there hadn’t been enough blood avable that day, Warren might truly have died from excessive
bleeding.
“I’m sorry, I-I just wanted to know about Riley’s whereabouts because Alicia imed that Riley is
living in a miserable state, possibly even worse than death,” she said, feeling her nose tingle.
“Worse than death?” Warren mumbled, his gaze growing colder as he looked at Amelia. “You’re so
anxious about a friend who is only ‘possibly’ living worse than death. But do you know that for all
these years, I’ve been living a life worse than death, and when have you shown any care or concern
for me?”
“I…” She began to speak but struggled to find the right words.
“Amelia, there has never been a ce for me in your heart and not a shred of affection. So even if
I’m living worse than death, you’ve never cared,” he said, emphasizing each word. “Before, I was
willing to do anything for you out of regret, guilt, and my love for you. But now, longer love you, and
naturally, things can’t go back to the way they were before.”

“You… Can’t you help me just this onest time? Consider it a debt I owe you, and I promise to pay
it back in the future!” she pleaded with a trembling voice.
“Why should I?” His three words alone sent her spiraling into a pit of despair, causing her heart to
plummet.
“He’s right. Why should he?” Amelia contemted. In the past, she might have leaned on his love
for her to seek his assistance.
But with his love now gone, it was no longer her ce to ask for his help.
“What can you, ady running a concession stand, really give me? I

already have everything I need, and what more could you possibly provide that Ick? Love? Sadly,
I once begged you for a chance, and you turned me down. Now, your love means nothing to me
anymore. Even if you were willing to give it, I wouldn’t want it.”
He forcefully removed her fingers from his arm.
“Amelia, I hope you’ll keep your word. Let’s not meet again from now on!” His cold words echoed in
her ears.
In the following moment, all she saw was his departing silhouette.
It was a firm departure, without a trace of sentimentality.
Amelia’s fingers trembled ever so slightly, bearing a trace of pain.
However, in contrast to the overwhelming agony in her chest, this pain felt superficial.
She came to the realization that his words had wounded her just as deeply.
