Chapter 1111

    Chapter 1111

He and Amelia shared a rare blood type of which there was very little inventory in the hospital.

As he did not know how much danger Amelia would be in when she delivered the baby, that was all

he could do at the moment.

His blood and his liver were all he could provide.

“Understood, Mr. York,” the doctor answered.

Warren closed his eyes slowly after the doctor and nurse left the ward with the bag of 13 ounces of

blood. He remembered that day by the operating table; Amelia had looked at him with disdain as if

the sight of him sickened her.

If he had not done that, he wondered if it would be possible for him and her to get back together.

After all, her attitude toward him had be less hostile with time.

However, if he had not done that then, he would not have known how unshakeable her

determination to bring the child into the world was.

“It’s always me who messes up everything between us. Why do I always do that?” he wondered. “I

used to back then, and I still do now.”

Soon, it was time for Amelia’s prenatal follow-up. After her son went to school that morning, she

took her purse as she nned to go to the hospital.

When she left her concession stand, she caught sight of Warren’s car parked at the entrance. He

was standing beside it as if waiting for her.

Amelia turned away, acting as if she had not seen Warren in an attempt to avoid him.

However, Warren rushed over and grabbed Amelia by the arm. “Let me take you to the hospital. It’s

your follow-up today. I’m just giving you a ride, nothing else.”

Amelia tried to yank her arm back but to no avail.

“Let go of me, Warren!” Amelia protested. “I made it clear that day. We’ve had enough of each other.

    Please, leave me alone!”

A mixture of pain and helplessness shed across Warren’s face. “I… I just wanted to pick you up,

in case you run into danger along the way.”

Amelia gave a sudden bitter smile. “Danger? You are the biggest threat to my safety! Do you think I

would ever dare get in your car again? You had somebody hold me down on the operating table the

last time you gave me a ride. Are you going to take me back to that ce and order me how to

behave? I am a human being, but I don’t even have control over my own body, which is subjected to

    your orders!”

Every word she hurled at him seemed to stab him like a sword.

By the time she had concluded her tirade, he was a wreck.

“I won’t do anything of that sort. It will never happen again. Will you trust me, please?” he begged.

Her smile became a leer. “How am I supposed to believe you? What’s more,” here, she paused and

stared at her arm in his clutches. “I can’t hide how my body reacts.”

He gave a start; he had only just realized that her arm was trembling.

The arm he was holding had been trembling the entire time as if wordlessly expressing the

    resistance and fear within her.

Warren froze. “It appears that things between us have evolved to such an irremediable extent

without me realizing it,” he realized inwardly.

“You and I are not suited for each other, Warren. I just want to bring this child into the world. Please

let me live in peace and leave me alone,” she pleaded.

All of a sudden, he turned pale. His lips trembled as if he wanted to say something but ultimately, he

remained silent. His grip holding her arm, too, loosened without him realizing it.

Amelia scurried off at once, leaving Warren to stare at the

fast-disappearing figure in a daze. His heart seared with pain as though it was mocking his

    stupidity.

Amelia walked to the bus station and waited for the bus. Not long after, a car stopped in front of her.

The driver emerged and addressed Amelia, “Hello, Ms. Haab. Mr. York sent me. He asked me to

pick you up and send you to the hospital.”

“No thanks,” Amelia refused. “I’m waiting for the bus. It’s very convenient.”

The man looked embarrassed. “But… Mr. York ordered me to take you to the hospital. He is worried

it would be too crowded and bad for

you and your unborn child if you took a bus. You could sympathize with me; it isn’t convenient for

me to park here lest the bus arrives.”

Just then, a bus came into view in the distance. Traffic congestion would result if the car remained

    there.

Biting her lip, Amelia ultimately decided to get in.

The driver immediately drove toward the hospital.

Fifteen minutester, Amelia got off and entered the building the car ground to a halt outside the

entrance of the Women’s Health Hospital. She did not notice Warren standing not far away, who

followed her in. Striding behind her, he watched her through the crowd in the hospital.

Amelia was scheduled for an appointment with the specialist clinic at the hospital. After she took her

number, a nurse escorted her directly to the VIP clinic.

“My appointment is with a regr specialist,” Amelia protested.

“It’s like this. Your husband, Mr. York, has reserved a VIP clinic for you. Because it was Dr. Howard

who attended to you thest time, he will be responsible for all the outpatient examinations and

delivery toe. Because of your current situation as a high-risk patient, an expert team is required

to take charge of the whole process. Of course, if you wish to be taken care of by another team, you

have the right to do so.”

Amelia bit her lip upon hearing the exnation before giving in. “Forget it. There’s no need to make

any changes to the staff. Dr. Howard is excellent.”

She did feel more at ease with an expert team overseeing the entire

    process.

The doctor dered her to be in excellent shape during her follow-up. However, Amelia knew that it

was only after the seven-month mark that theplications would begin showing up.

When she emerged from the consulting room, she heard a voice. “Are you Amelia Haab?”

Amelia was taken aback. Looking up, she saw a dolled-up woman in her early thirties peering at

    her.

The familiar face made Amelia frown, and a figure shed across her mind.

“Alicia?” Amelia asked uncertainly. After all, the woman standing before her looked different from

    the one she once knew.
