Chapter 1055

    Chapter 1055

“I know. It’s my fault! It’s all my fault!” Warren shouted. “Amelia, I waspletely and utterly wrong.

I know that I can’t make up for it. I just hope I can be good to you now, and I will do my best to make

    it up to you!”

Amelia smiled lightly, which even appeared somewhat nonchnt.

It was like someone who was once very important to her had be insignificant now.

“Aiden and I didn’t have your care from the beginning, yet we still survived to this day. We’re still

alive and well. Why do you think we need your care now?” retorted Amelia.

Her words stunned him, making Warren feel like there was ice coursing through his veins instead of

    blood.

“Warren, can’t you just pretend you didn’t know about my pregnancy? Is that too much to ask?

There have been enough mistakes between us. Each time we get involved with each other, it

causes nothing but harm to ourselves and everyone else,” said Amelia.

Warren stared at her nkly and felt that although they were close now, they seemed to be drifting

    further apart.

“You are the eldest son and the head of the York family. You can seek out all the other women who

love you. There’s no need to keep pestering me. Besides, look at me. I’m 35 years old now and no

longer a young girl, Warren. At this age, I can’t afford to hurt myself anymore. You’re just obsessed

with me now. I know you feel sorry for me, so you want to make it up to me, but I don’t need your

help. I just want to live a quiet life. Warren, can’t you let me go?” Amelia spoke eloquently, her voice

carrying the calm and stillness that came after extreme anguish.

“It’s not an obsession! I love you! No matter how old you are, I still love you!” Warren roared, and his

voice broke. “Amelia, I won’t hurt you. Please trust me this once!”

However, Amelia still looked at Warren with a very calm and indifferent gaze.

It seemed that the distance between him and her could nevere to an

    end.

“Warren, all my trust in you had been destroyed back then. How are you supposed to get back

    something that has been destroyed?”

Her words seemed to put Warren into hell.

When Amelia returned to the concession stand, Matilda looked at her gloomy face and asked,

“What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell again? Didn’t you go to the hospital for another

reexamination? What did the doctor say?”

“The doctor said that it’s nothing serious,” said Amelia, forcing a smile.

“Oh, that’s good.” Matilda was relieved.

Just as Amelia was about to change clothes in the fitting room, a car arrived at the concession

stand. Then, someone got out of the car and handed over several boxes of fruits and teas of

    various brands to Amelia.

The person said, “Mr. York asked us to give this to you, Ms. Haab.”

Amelia looked at these gifts with a sense of bewilderment. These were all the things the doctor had

told Warren about at the hospital that would help with her nausea.

She did not expect Warren to send someone over with these items so

    soon.

Without waiting for Amelia’s answer, the person put down the items and left.

Matilda found this strange and muttered, “Mr. York… Isn’t that Warren? Why did he send these

things over? There’s so many things, too!”

Amelia did not say anything. She just lowered her head, her line of sight seemingly focused on her

    abdomen.

When Rosalie had some free time, she came to the concession stand and saw Amelia, who

seemed to have a lot on her mind.

“Amelia, what’s wrong Is there something bothering you?” Rosalie asked.

Amelia remained silent for some time.

Rosalie said, “If something is troubling you, you might as well just tell me. I will try my best to help if

    I can.”

Amelia then stroked her abdomen subconsciously with both hands.

“Amelia… Are you pregnant?” Rosalie hesitated for a moment before deciding to be frank.

Amelia trembled, and then she calmed down. “Yes.”

Opening up about the situation was probably a good decision. At the very least, she could share her

    feelings and thoughts with Rosalie.

This secret weighed heavily on Amelia’s heart over thest few days. She could not confide in

Matilda, and it was even more challenging to discuss it with Aiden.

She could only pretend to be fine in front of her closest family.

“What are you thinking of doing?” Rosalie asked.

“I haven’t figured it out yet,” Amelia confessed. “This baby is Warren’s, but I don’t want to have

anything to do with him anymore. If I choose to have this baby, then I’m afraid that I might only get

    more involved with him.”

Rosalie pursed her lips and said, “Amelia, if you really want to have the baby, I’ll help you handle

Warren. I’ll make sure that he can’t force you to do anything.”

Amelia looked at Rosalie gratefully. “Rosalie, thank you.”

“Don’t thank me! We’ve been friends for so long, and I only have two best friends; you and Lillian!”

said Rosalie. After a pause, Rosalie added, “But Amelia, are you really not willing to give Warren a

    chance?”

Amelia smiled bitterly. “You’re well aware of the situation between him. and I. Would you be willing if

    you were in my shoes?”

Rosalie was rendered speechless because she didn’t know if she could forgive and move on with

Jonathan if he did the same thing to her.

When the weekend arrived, Amelia was overseeing the shop when she saw Matildaing back

    and cursing.

“Mom, what’s wrong? What happened?” Amelia asked hurriedly.

“Nothing. I just quarreled with Mrs. Crane from over there,” Matilda said angrily.

Amelia was confused. “What did you quarrel with Mrs. Crane about?”

“It’s about that widow from the Lark family. Mrs. Crane is up in arms.

about how that widow got pregnant less than two years after her husband died. Nobody knows

whose child it is, and Mrs. Crane isining about how this woman was not upholding a widow’s

virtue. I asked her what was the point of talking about virtue nowadays. Mrs. Crane is behaving as if

it was the widow’s fault that she ended up pregnant. That woman’s husband is already dead! If she

finds someone else and gets pregnant, what of it? It’s her business! Why does Mrs. Crane have to

gossip so much?” eximed Matilda tersely.

“And then, you guys fought?” Amelia asked.

“Sheter mentioned you also had an illegitimate child, I…” Matilda stopped at this point. She

faltered, and a hint of embarrassment crossed her face. Then, she chuckled and said, “Okay, I won’t

say anything more. Forget it. I’m going to prepare our meal.”

Matilda then went into the kitchen after saying this.

Amelia lowered her head and felt bitterness pool in her heart.

Everywhere, there were always people who liked to make mischief and meddle in others’ affairs.

Matilda had argued with others in the past. because of her.

If she really gave birth to the baby in her belly, Amelia was concerned about even more gossip.

Aiden and Matilda then had to live through all this gossip, bearing the brunt of it all.

With this in mind, Amelia bit her lip. She seemed to have arrived at a decision.

She then gently stroked her abdomen and said in a very soft voice, “I’m sorry…”s
