    Chapter 844

At that moment, Jonathan remembered how he had also once turned a blind eye to things that had

urred to protect the interests of the

    Youngblood family.

He began to question whether Rosalie’s forgiveness for him was genuine. After all, she forgave him

but not Zachary. He also wondered if she had no knowledge of what had happened due to losing

    that part of her memory.

Jonathan did not dare to think further.

After a pause, Rosalie continued, “Zachary saved me, and I’ll thank him and repay his kindness, but

that’s about it. I would do the same if the person who saved me were a stranger.”

“What about me? Will you sympathize with me? Would you care about me?” Jonathan’s hoarse

    voice escaped his mouth.

She responded with a faint grin, “What’s with that question? You’re my husband. Of course, I love

you and care about you, but do you really expect me to sympathize with you? That doesn’t sound

appropriate, does it? Are youparing yourself to Zachary?”

After reaching out and cradling his face with both hands, she whispered, “Jon, Zachary holds no

ce in my heart. To me, he’s nothing more than a distant memory with no significance. But you’re

the one I care about the most.”

With that, she kissed him passionately on the lips.

Rosalie wanted him to understand the depth of her love for him and to provide him with a sense of

security, so he would not feel the same insecurity and anxiety he had experienced five years ago.

“Jon, I love you. No matter what happens in the future, I’ll always love you!” she murmured.

“Oh, Rosie. I just want you to love me forever!” Jonathan eximed. He wanted her to remain by his

    side for eternity.

On the third day, Rosalie went to the public prosecutor’s office and answered a series of questions,

    including her rtionship with Connor.

Rosalie was able to answer them steadily.

Just as they were about to conclude the session, one of the female staff suddenly spoke up. “Ms.

Leighton, as far as I know, you’ve been thriving

in the legal world in Lofbury, and it was Mr. Smuckler who helped you expand your connections.

You’ve even moved in with Mr. Smuckler and stayed with him for some time. Are you sure there’s

nothing going on between you two?”

Rosalie narrowed her eyes and stared at the woman. The public prosecutor in front of her was

about 30 years old, wearing a gray professional suit. She had an unassuming appearance and

spoke in a rather hostile manner.

Rosalie shifted her gaze to the woman and saw her name, Peggy Rhinehard, on her badge.

“Ms. Rhinehard, you’ve crossed the line. I wee your questions about the case, but if you’re

going to pry into my personal affairs with my mentor, I’m afraid you have no right to do so,” Rosalie

    uttered.

Peggy continued questioning her with a disdainful look. “But now, Yoel has filed a report about your

intimate rtionship with Mr. Smuckler, and that has caused him to lose the case. Don’t you think

    you owe us an exnation?”

“I’ve already stated what I should about my rtionship with Mr. Smuckler.” Rosalie responded

firmly, “And I reserve the right not to answer questions that are unrted to the case unless you can

prove that the questions you just asked are rted to thewsuit and could help form aplete

    chain of evidence, Ms. Rhinchard!”

Peggy could not help but exim in frustration, “Ms. Rosalie Leighton, don’t you forget, you’re the

    one under questioning now!”

“But I’m not a convict!” Rosalie calmly retorted, “If you deliberately make things difficult for me, I can

also file aint with your superior, Ms. Rhinehard.”

Peggy’s face turned grim immediately. Her colleague on the side quickly stepped in to defuse the

tension. “All right, Ms. Leighton. We’re done with the session today. You can leave now.”

Rosalie stood up, turned around, and left.

The man then turned to Peggy and said, “What’s gotten into you? Your questions have gone too far.

We must remain objective and not let our preconceived notions cloud our judgment.”

Peggy replied furiously, “She’s just showing us she’s the boss here just because she’s Jonathan’s

    wife!”

“You said she’s Jonathan’s wife, right? Do you believe Jonathan would let

her go easily if she really had something to do with her mentor? Do you think she could still speak

so confidently if that were the case?” the man inquired.

    His questions rendered Peggy speechless.

As soon as Rosalie emerged from the public prosecutor’s office, she was surrounded by arge

number of journalists. They kept throwing out questions that spected on her rtionship with

    Connor.

A few bodyguards surrounded Rosalie to stop the journalists from approaching her.

“Ms. Leighton, you were an unknownwyer not long ago, but you’ve recently be one of the

poprwyers in Lofbury. Did you strike some kind of deal with Mr. Smuckler? Someone has

suggested that your daughter, Jennifer, is actually Mr. Smuckler’s illegitimate daughter. Is that true?”

    a journalist suddenly asked loudly.

Rosalie paused and red at the journalist. “Apologize to me right now!” “Excuse me?” The

    journalist was stunned.

“You’re asking baseless questions, which is akin to spreading rumors. Shouldn’t you apologize to

me? I demand an apology to me, my mentor, and my daughter!” Rosalie warned with indifference.

Yet, the journalist responded resolutely, “If you believe my questions are baseless, then provide the

truth and dispel the rumors on your own! Otherwise, it only implies that there’s something

suspicious between you and Mr. Smuckler, and your daughter is indeed Mr. Smuckler’s illegitimate

    child!”

A cold glint shed in Rosalie’s eyes. When she raised her hand, about to p the journalist,

another hand emerged from nowhere, grabbing her by the wrist.

Momentarily stunned, she looked up and realized that it was Jonathan who had a hold of her hand.

“Jon, why are you here?” She was surprised to see him.

“I’m here to pick you up. It seems I’vee at the right time,” Jonathan said.

When the journalist saw Jonathan approach and prevent Rosalie from striking him, he, with a smug

expression, uttered, “Mr. Youngblood, I’m sure you’re eager to learn about your wife’s rtionship

with her mentor and whether Jennifer is your daughter or Mr. Smuckler’s…”

    10:48

Before he could finish his words, Jonathan kicked the journalist to the ground.

“I’m sorry. I can’t always control my clumsy, long legs,” Jonathan remarked casually. “I didn’t catch

what you just said. Could you repeat it?” Despite his words, he maintained his position, pinning the

journalist to the ground with his leg. The journalist could not help but shudder at the condescending

gaze in Jonathan’s deep, dark eyes.

The indifferent expression on Jonathan’s face sent a chill down the journalist’s spine in an instant.

He could sense that if he were to repeat those words then, Jonathan might not grant him the

    chance to stand up again.
