Chapter 237
Sensing her friend’s concerns, Rosalie reassured her, “It’s okay. I’ll uncover the truth, give justice to
Mnie, and clear
own name!”
“Enough about me. How about you and Callum?” Rosalie asked in return.
my
“What else can there be? It’s just the same. We’re just like any other couple in a rtionship.” Lillian
shrugged. Sometimes, things appeared deceptively “normal,” and Rosalie could not help but feel
she was genuinely in a rtionship with Callum. There were moments when she would be so
engrossed in the illusion of this “rtionship” that she had to remind herself continuously that it was
all a facade and Callum’s true intentions were driven solely by a desire for revenge once she fell in
love with him.
“I still think that Callum may not be as vengeful as you imagine, Lillian,” Rosalie said. People like
Callum had many ways to torment someone if they wanted revenge, and it did not make sense for
him to choose such a convoluted and time-consuming approach.
“I hope it’s not as I imagine,” Lillian said, pouting slightly with a dismissive tone.
Rosalie knew that Lillian was still convinced that Callum was seeking revenge. However, since
Rosalie did not have much information about Callum, she chose not to say more on the subject.
Certain things could only be understood through experience.
However, no matter what, she did not want Lillian to get hurt.
The two of them exited the restroom and walked toward the private room.
As they opened the door, they were greeted by the sight of Callum with one hand resting on the
table and the other propping up the back of the chair where Jonathan was sitting. Callum leaned
over, engaged in a conversation with him. Their gazes were almost level, and their faces were
extremely close.
Rosalie and Lillian were both taken aback by the situation, with Lillian even theatrically gasping in
surprise.
“What’s… going on here?” Lillian could not help but exim. She felt as if she had stumbled upon a
scene of great beauty, akin to a painting, with roses from a romanticic book seemingly
blossoming around the tableau.
Callum’s expression darkened, and he could easily deduce that Lillian’s mind was once again filled
with chaotic thoughts, judging by her reaction.
“Nothing.” Callum straightened up and returned to his seat nonchntly.

“It’s really nothing,” Jonathan added with a faint smile. “Mr. White and I were just having a casual
chat.”
“Casual chat? Did they need to be in such postures and proximity for a casual conversation?” Lillian
could not help but harbor doubts, and even Rosalie found the situation perplexing.
“All right, we’ve finished our meal. Let’s head back to Strico. If we leave now, we should arrive
around four or five o’clock, Jonathan suggested as he got up from his seat.
When it was time to settle the bill, Jonathan took the initiative and paid using his phone.
“How about I host the next gathering? Whenever you are free, we all should meet up again,” Callum
suggested, his tone tinged with hidden meaning.
“Of course, there is no problem,” Jonathan replied calmly.
The four of them left the restaurant, and Jonathan drove them back.
Usually, even when he drove himself, Jonathan would use luxury cars, so riding in Lillian’s rtively
inexpensive car was a unique experience for him.
Lillian could not help but feel sentimental when she saw Jonathan driving her old car. Who would
have thought that one day, her car would be driven by Jonathan?
Callum nced at the gleam in Lillian’s eyes and inexplicably felt his mood souring again.
When they arrived back in Strico, they first stopped at the Youngblood residence, and Jonathan and
Rosalie got out of the car. Callurn took over the wheel.
“Rosalie, see you next time.” Lillian and Rosalie exchanged greetings.
“Sure,” Rosalie replied. “Thank you for today, and drive safely on your way back through therge
iron gate of the Youngblood residence.
With that, she and Jonathan walked
Lillian’s eyes remained fixed on the iron gate where Jonathan and Rosalie had disappeared. She
kept staring until Callum’s impatient voice reached her ears. “Have you seen enough?”
“Just looking, what’s the big deal?” Lillian muttered. When she had seen Jonathan for the first time
in Rosalie’s rental home
back then, even she did not consider him a vagrant, let alone a local tycoon capable of making
waves in Strico.
The next moment, a pair of hands held Lillian’s face, turning her gaze toward Callum’s face. “What
is this? Were you not saying just the other day that you liked looking at my face? Now, have you
taken a liking to Jonathan?”
Lillian nearly choked on her own saliva at his words, thinking where on earth did he get the idea that
she had taken a liking to Jonathan.
She was merely expressing her astonishment at the fact that Rosalie and Jonathan were in a
rtionship.
But considering her current rtionship with Callum, who could be regarded as her creditor, she did
not want to argue too forcefully and risk upsetting him.
So, Lillian forced a smile and said, “How could that be? I could never have feelings for Jonathan. I
was just… um, offering my best wishes to Rosalie.”
“Really?” He leaned in closer as if trying to discern her true thoughts.
“Absolutely!” she quickly assured, trying to make her eyes look innocent.
“It’s a relief you haven’t taken a liking to him. Do not forget, you are my girlfriend,” Callum said, his
gaze a mix of wakning and resignation.
“Of course, I haven’t forgotten!” Lillian thought as she rolled her eyes. This title “girlfriend” felt like a
curse, a constant reminder that she was now in debt and meant to fall in love with him and bear his
revenge once more.
However, at this moment, as she looked at his handsome face up close, Lillian had to admit that
Callum’s features were indeed quite pleasing to the eye.
If she did not know the final oue, if this were a genuine rtionship, perhaps she might truly be
attracted to him.
“I won’t forget that I’m your girlfriend, of course,” Lillian said. “You can rest assured that before I fall
in ‘love’ with you, I promise not to fall in love with anyone else.”
She deliberately emphasized the word “love.” After all, when the time was right, she would “love”
him, endure his revenge, and afterward, consider the debt repaid.
Callum stared at Lillian, a sense of awkwardness creeping over him. He was the one who had
initially set the rules of this game, but hearing her repeat them now felt strangely unsettling.
Moreover, the notion that she would not fall in love with anyone else before falling in love with him
made him wonder if she might fall in love with someone else after loving him.
The thought soured his mood.
“Lillian, dare to fall in love with someone else and see what happens,” he warned, his re
intensifying.
She instinctively wanted to retort, but his menacing gaze silenced her, leaving her to touch her nose
and close her mouth.
