had already hung up the phone.
“What’s going on? Did something happen to the urn?” Caitlin hurriedly asked her husband.
“Harper said someone went theretest night and took the urn!” Gordon said.
“They took it? Then what about our 10 million dors? Without that urn, she won’t give us the
money,” Caitlin was getting anxious now. Suddenly, she thought of a possibility. “By the way, do you
think that brat was the one who sent someone to
take the urn?”
Gordon frowned and picked up his phone to call Rosalie.
After a while, Rosalie answered, “What is it?”

up with the full 10 million dors immediately, you can start by giving half. I’ll tell you where your

mother’s husband. Where can you bury her without my approval?”
“So you’re aware that you are her husband. I don’t think my mom would acknowledge you as her

“You… Is this how you speak to your own father? You’d better tell me where you buried your mother
now, or I’ll get awyer to sue you. Even Jonathan can’t protect you. Don’t think that just because
you’re with Jonathan now, he really cares about you. He’s just ying with you. Unlike Loretta, she
is Calvin’s real girlfriend…”
Yet before Gordon could finish his words, another voice interrupted him. “Oh? Why don’t you give it
a try and see if I can protect her? How about that?”
The icy male voice left Gordon nearly choking on his own saliva, and his phone nearly slipped from
his hand.
Was that… Jonathan’s voice?
Was Jonathan right next to his eldest daughter? Did he overhear their entire conversation?

phone was not on speaker.
“What else could it be? Now that Jonathan is protecting her, that girl has really grown bold!” Gordon
said bitterly. His eldest daughter had a strong backer, but he couldn’t gain anything from it. That was
what frustrated him the most.
If Gordon had known that his daughter had such capabilities, he would have treated her better from
the beginning, but now it was toote for regrets.
Hearing her husband’s words, Caitlin couldn’t help but sarcastically remark, “She’s someone who’s
been to prison. How did she catch Jonathan’s eye? And she’s the one who identally killed
Jonathan’s fiancée!”
“How am I supposed to know that?” Gordon said angrily.
“Well, no matter what, I doubt it’s a respectable rtionship.” Caitlin continued, “Unlike our Loretta.
She’s in a legitimate rtionship and has a chance to marry into the Gunner family. She also paid
for our trip this time!”
Gordon’s mood improved as he thought of Loretta. Now, all his hopes were pinned on their younger
daughter.
On the other hand, Jonathan returned his phone to Rosalie. A hint of coldness shed in his eyes.
“What kind of oue do you hope for your father?”
He asked with a smile, but she understood the underlying threat in his gaze.
Instantly, Rosalie understood that whatever kind of fate she wished for her father at this moment,
Jonathan would likely fulfill it,

However, Rosalie said, “It’s fine. Cutting ties with him like this is enough.” Her father’s actions had
only erased thest traces of affection she had for him.
She had once thought that her father had at least a bit of lingering sentiment for her mother. After
all, her parents had fallen in love and married freely back then, and her mother had married him
when he was at his lowest point.
But now she realized that it was nothing more than her wishful thinking.
It turned out that the most terrifying thing was time. Even though they used to love each other, after

Jonathan frowned unconsciously. Rosalie stood before him, her eyes lowered, her serene face
carrying a hint of mockery and sadness. It was as if something was slipping away from within her,

Almost instinctively, he tightly embraced her, as if trying to hold on to her. Now that she was finally
getting closer to him, he didn’t want to let her go.
Rosalie was momentarily stunned. She felt herself being enveloped in a wide embrace. His hands
tightened around her body, making it almost difficult for her to breathe.
“Jonathan…” she couldn’t help calling out.
Her voice made him tremble. He slightly loosened his hold on her but maintained the embrace. He
didn’t let her go.
“Call me Jon. I like hearing you call me Jon,” he murmured. His clear voice, tinged with a hint of h
oarseness, pierced her eardrums and reached deep into her heart.
She pursed her lips and hesitated, but eventually, she softly called out, “Jon.”
A smile tugged at the corner of Jonathan’s lips. “That sounds lovely.”
She looked at the smile on his face in a daze. It was as if a simple call from her had brought him
happiness and contentment.
