Introduction: A young Corvo Rhedi sets out to the religious capital of the Merdelum Empire, the City of Caelum, to receive a formal education as well as basic survival skills at one of the Empire's most prestigious military academies, so he may become a mercenary who travels the world and helps people along the way, just like his parents did before he was born. However, as the Flying City of Magic, Edenia, is suddenly wiped out without a trace, and the Three Thrones of Humanity are now at each others throats, his dreams are put on hold as he becomes drafted by the military and has to help in the war effort.This story is a prequel to "The Wizard of Teles", and was intended as a sort-of lore-dump when I first started writing it....
