Chapter 1654 He Finally Did Something Good
What Xander said was top secret and it involved the lives of several families. If anyone with impure
motives heard it, it would cause a disaster.
“I wanna go out!”
Just when Lucas walked outside, Morty stopped him. He couldn’t let anything happen to Lucas right
now.
“Stay with your brother. I’ll take care of this.”
Morty and his men followed that figure.
That figure was fast and was nowhere to be found. When Morty arrived, he saw Xander was standing
there, frowning. He couldn’t help asking, “Mr. Don, where is that person?”
“He’s gone?”
Xander was frowning so hard that his eyebrows were twisted together.
That person was unbelievably fast, which inspired Xander another possibility that the figure was one of
the people here.
Because he was so familiar with the surroundings that he hid in a room and it would be hard to search
room by room.
Xander was feeling uneasy.
He went back to Morty’s room.
“Mr. Don, you didn’t catch him?”
Xander shook his head, “I think he’s not gone yet and he’s just around. But there are too many people
around you and it will draw too much attention to take on a thorough investigation. It will be bad for
you.”
Morty was convinced,
“Who would that be?”
Lucas frowned.
“No matter who that was, Mr. Morty should pay more attention to people around you from now on. I
can’t stay here for too long. My people are still on the training ground of the Shaffer family. Cody might
do something shady. I need to go.”
“Take care, Mr. Don.”
Morty walked Xander to the door.
On the other hand, that figure quickly hide in the room next door and held his breath.

Mr. Hill nced at him and asked in front of Chad, “Is Xander gone?”
“Yes.”
“Did he transfer those men to Morty?”
“Yes.”
The figure was astonished but he still went on.
Hearing that, Mr. Hill waved his hand and said, “Okay then. Go. You don’t need to report anything to
me from now on. Just be Morty’s guard.”

The figure answered and then exited.
Chad sighed and said, “Cody finally has reached this point. I’m too guilty to face Mr. Don ever again!”
“It is what it is. We didn’t know it earlier. It would be a proper answer to the soldiers who sacrificed for
our nation if you can ce righteousness above family loyalty and Morty and Xander can take care of
it.”
Mr. Hill paused for a while and squinted his eyes,
Chad nodded and felt sorrowful.
Of course, he would feel that way.
His oldest son died on the battlefield and his middle son was missing on a mission. There was only his
little son left. He and his wife spoiled him and gave him everything he wanted. He even begged Mr. Hill

But Cody was still not satisfied.

Chad didn’t do anything wrong. He had devoted his life to this nation. How could we end up with no
children left? But he also knew that it was not worth it to risk the whole family for Cody. So, he had to

“Sad?”
Mr. Hill nced at him and saw the sorrow in his eyes.
Chad smiled bitterly, “It would be a lie if I say I’m not sad. But I know that only by this way can the rest
of the Shaffer family stay out of this.”
“Yeah, like your granddaughter Cara.”
Chad was stunned at his words and then sighed, “Poor child.”
“I heard Cody almost killed her this time. She’s with Morty now and there’s a chance that she’ll survive.
Do you want her back?”
Chad thought for a while and shook his head, “She has to settle with Morty right now. The Shaffer
family abandoned her when it was at its peak. Now the Shaffer is going down and why should we take
her back? So that we could leave this mess to her? This kid deserves her own life. I’m actually kind of
grateful for my daughter-inw. If it weren’t for her call, the Shaffer family might not have an heir. Mr.
Hill, could you leave Cara alone no matter what will happen to the Shaffers?”
“Since you asked, what can I say. Besides, she’s with Morty now and she’s one of Nicole’s friends. She
is also Laurence''s lover. I won’t do anything to her. Rest assured.”
Hearing that, Chad was finally relieved.
He asked, “Mr. Hill, you didn’t do anything to the Shaffer family before. Is it because you want to leave
the credit to Mr. Morty?”
