Chapter 1634 This Had Nothing to Do With You


    Nicole looked around and there were no other guests other than the waiters. She chose a table by the


    window. Laurence arrived soon after and was surprised to see Nicole.


    “Haven’t you left?” Laurence asked in surprise.


    “I am worried about you.” Nicole simply said.


    They ordered a cup of Americano and Cappino and started to drink the coffee. They remained


    silent.


    Time ticked on and Cara was nowhere to be seen. A waiter came to refill their cups and then realized


    that there was a note below her cup.


    “Run!”


    The message shocked Laurence and Nicole. It was Cara’s handwriting. Were they not here to meet


    her? Why did she send a note asking them to leave when they had already arrived? Was the person


    who made the appointment not Cara?


    Nicole was puzzled but deep within her, she believed that Cara would not harm Laurence. Nicole


    immediately pulled Laurence to leave. Laurence was still in a daze. This was not the first time Nicole


    held his hand and each time that happened, danger was lurking nearby. Could it be…


    Laurence’s eyes narrowed, quickly looked around, and felt that something was about to happen.


    At this moment, all the doors to the café were suddenly shut. Nicole’s heart sank and knew that


    something bad was about to happen. She quickly drew a pistol from her bag and then shot at the ss


    door.


    “Run!” Nicole pushed Laurence out. It was clear that the attacker was here for Laurence.

    aid Nicole.


    Before Laurence could say anything, he was already being pushed out by Nicole. At moment,

    Nicole rolled on the ground and then joined Finn and Trevin in a gun battle with the people inside the


    café.


    Just as Nicole jumped out, she turned and saw Cara with the armed men. She was stunned


    momentarily. What was going on? Was that Cara? If so, why did she warn them to run? Since she


    warned them, then why did she act against them? Was she forced?


    Nicole pondered all these in a sh. Laurence was relieved to see Nicole and asked, “Are you alright?”


    “I’m fine, let’s go!” Nicole did not want to stay a moment longer and quickly pushed Laurence into the


    car.


    Suddenly, a red streak shed towards Nicole, and she instinctively pushed Laurence but she was


    unable to dodge.


    “Thud”, the bullet hit Nicole in her right shoulder. The intense pain spun Nicole around and she looked


    in shock at the familiar face.


    It was her?!


    The shooter did not fire another shot, lowered the weapon jumped away from the position.


    Trevin rushed over as soon as he noticed that Nicole had been wounded and asked, “Madam, are you


    alright?”


    Laurence wanted to exit the car but was stopped by Nicole, “Let’s go!”


    Nicole made the snap decision to leave first and let Trevin and the rest clean up the fight.


    She had intended to drive but Laurence jumped into the driver’s seat when she was shot. He started to


    drive towards the pce.


    “Do not return to the pce.” Nicole startled Laurence.


    “Then where to?” He did not ask the reason why. He just did as he was told as he felt guilty for getting

    Nicole hurt. If it was not for his feelings for Cara and agreed to get here for this meeting, Nicole would


    not be hurt. Now that Samuel was not around, it was unforgivable that he had caused Nicole to be


    injured.


    Laurence was solemn and Nicole knew that he was ming himself. But now was not the time for

    set up the meeting. If it was, she would not send us the note.”

    appointment, then his rtionship with Cara isn’t straightforward. If she could warn us, why didn’t she


    warn us much earlier? Why did she do so only after we arrived? It was obvious that I was their target.


    They wanted to kill me!” No matter how much Laurence tried to deny in the past, now he could no


    longer avoid the fact that they wanted to kill him.


    He had been in the presence of guns since young but now it was the first time that he had be the


    target. Furthermore, the person who tried to kill him was a woman whom he deeply loved.


    Laurence’s heart ached when he thought of this. Had it not been Nicole pushing him away, the sniper’s


    intended target was him!
