<h4>Chapter 8: First ss</h4>
"We have to hurry, the teacher will be pissed if we''rete" Mina said, interrupting my thoughts.
"Right."
After cleaning the dishes and getting ready, we headed for our first ss, which was supposed to be the most important one since the beggining: the powerscaling test, the first arc of the novel.
The ssroom was immense and at it''s back were arge amount of rows with seats, the floor and walls were covered in blue lights and a lot of people were gathered inside.
ording to the novel, the 1000 people who were allowed inside of the school were divided in 10 sses of 100 students each.
And the fact Mina told me we needed to go together meant that... no, I don''t even wanna think about it.
As I entered the ssroom, I saw what I feared the most: many of the main characters, heroines and antagonists sitting on different chairs, I especially noticed Daemon who was taking a nap at the far back.
I was in ss 1, the one where most of the events in the novel would happen, basically the most dangerous one...
I nced to my right and saw who would be the one teaching us.
It was a woman, she had brown hair, a very slim figure and her eyes were red, she was an extremely attractive and beautiful woman and ording to the novel, one of the most talented people in the academy, she was also an elf which was why her magic power was so strong.
"Oh, it seems like the student who had been asleep for a few days finally woke up" she said enthusiastically, thus catching the attention of the other students as they all looked at me, "my name is Ms.Lana, feel free to ask any questions if needed!"
"Thank you" I bowed before getting pulled by Mina to one of the rows and being obligated to sit next to her.
"We have already talked about the basics the past three days, Kaine, but I believe your little friend next to you will exin itter" the teacher told me.
I nodded at her words and thanked her again for her kindness.

The first hour of ss was perfectly normal, she spoke about monsters and things I already knew about but I still tried to focus on her words as to not show i''m a cker.
But at one point, the teacher closed herptop, thus turning off the big screen that was showing us the information we needed to see and...
"Today is friday, but as you all might already know, today is the day of the first test: the powerscaling test" all of a sudden everybody in ss started to listen to her every word, "it is a very important evaluation in this school, every year we organize it and it is used to determine the power levels of the students and to motivate them to be stronger."
"What is the test teacher?" a silver haired beastgirl asked.
"You will know when we reach the advanced reality room."
Of course, I already knew where this was going and the final ranking of the ss but I still decided to act surprised.
"Follow me" Ms.Lana gestured with her fingers.
We followed her lead and arrived infront of a huge building, there were a lot of signs that pointed the directions we should be taking and the ce itself was pretty easy to navigate, but the advanced reality room was hidden deep inside the buildings of the school and the only way to ess it was a keycard only teachers had.
When we arrived, Ms.Lana was standing outside a white metal door and was waiting for all of us.
"This is the ARR, and the ce where the test will take ce" she announced.
The advanced reality room, or ARR for short was a gigantic simtion area designed specifically for physical and power tests such as this one, it is the pinecal of technology.
As soon the students and the teachers passed the door, we were greeted by a big circr space and a tform in the middle.
"Wee" an electronic voice sounded through the speakers, "we will begin the test in five minutes, please stand in line"
I took a deep breath and prepared for what was toe, and after a few seconds, the voice echoed once more.
"Please enter the tform."
We all walked to the center on the tform, every single one of the 101 students could stand on it and there was still a lot of space, this was just how big that room was.
"Please prepare yourselves, the simtion will start now" the voice echoed onest time.
A blinding light then surrounded the tform and the environment changedpletely.
It was a forest and we were currently surrounded by trees, the only empty space right now was the circle where the tform previously was.
I could hear the discussions from the other students and their reactions to this change of scenery.
But all of a sudden, holographic screens appeared everywhere around us, and with that came a voice reading the text written on them.
[The powerscaling test is simple: you all will be released in different directions inside the forest and will have to fight low-level monsters inside to get points
There are three types of monsters that will give you points if defeated:
Dwarves: one point.
Magic wolves: three points.
Tree demons: five points.
???: ??? points.
The test willst three hours and your number of points will be your final ranking at the end.
Those who die from the monsters will be immediately sent back to the room and will be considered eliminated.

And then everything went quiet.
I could feel the anxiety in the atmosphere, nobody knew what was happening.
Except me that is.
I had no powers and currently was defenseless, but I was the one who knew this forest best.
And so under the gazes of all the people who were panicking, I walked in one of the directions toward the overwhelming ocean of trees ahead and didn''t look back.
I was diving into the unknown and into the uncertainty of survival.
But it''s fine.
Because my goal was simple: survive for three hours.
I don''t need any of that fame or try to be the best bullshit after all.

I was now alone with the eerie sound of nature as my solepany, I wish I could of brought Mina with me so that I could of had just a bit of defense but...
What i''m about to do is extremely reckless and dangerous, and requires me to be alone to max my odds of sess.
And with these thoughts in mind, the powerscaling test finally began.
