Their Fight is Our Fight

The wind howled in the ears of the Righteous Swords as they marched

Sweat poured from their steel armour as the sun relentlessly bore down on the men

Ragged breathing could be heard from beneath the helms of the soldiers, and yet the disciplined troops carried on

The sand shifted beneath their booted feet yet none lost their balance

Wandering through a delve in a sand dune, it happened

"Ambush!" screamed one of the forward scouts in warning before an arrow pierced his back and he collapsed in silence

Shouts erupted from all around as the attackers made their move and the Righteous Swords fell into formationThis tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

"Breegan! Get your men over here and guard the rear!" shouted Captain Lys over the din, her harsh voice, blonde hair and eyepatch making her immediately different from the other soldiers

"Aye Ma''am!" Breegan shouted in return

With the back covered, Lys pulled her sword and charged forward with her troops, striking back at the enemy

Even after traveling miles in the desert, weary from sun and terrain, her men were the best she could hope for

After many long and arduous minutes of combat, the Righteous Swords were victorious

"Ma''am! You''ll want to see this!" shouted Breegan

Lys wiped her bloodied blade on the tunic of her last kill and walked over to where her subordinate indicated

He stood up from the corpse he was inspecting and held a strange insignia in hand

"Seems our enemies had hired a band of mercenaries from Relain. Guess we proved they weren''t worth the coin."

Lys snarled in anger "Those damn Coveerians. Instead of fighting themselves, the honourless scum hire mercenaries to fight for them. Take a few of the corpses and adorn their heads on pikes. Show the cowards that their hired thugs were nothing before the Righteous Swords."

Several minutes later, the band of warriors marched on once again, this time with some new decorations
