Chapter 607

    Chapter 607

Esther eventually drifted into slumber while cradling Felix in her arms.

Tormented by pain, Bradley couldn’t find a moment of rest. While ncing at his wife and child beside

him, his thoughts turned to his missing twin daughters.

Where could they be now? The answer remained a mystery, haunting him as much as Esther.

Cole had handled everything concerning Esther in the past. But ever since his disappearance in the

river, the odds of his survival had grown exceedingly slim. Esther had pressed Bradley for answers

repeatedly, but he shouldered the burden alone, intent on sparing her the heartache.

Bradley’s forehead glistened with cold sweat from the pain. He softly lifted the covers and slipped into

the bathroom. As he neared the bathroom door, he coughed a mouthful of blood and staggered,

    eventually copsing within.

Esther somehow summoned the strength to reach Bradley. She embraced him tightly and guided him

    to the toilet./

    “Bradley…”

    Bradley cautioned, “Quiet!”

Esther squatted before Bradley and clutched his hand worriedly. She asked with care, “Bradley…

    should I fetch the doctor?”

“Do you want to wake Felix?” Bradley retorted with a bitter smile. “Don’t fret. Not even the Grim Reaper

dares to im me just yet!”

Esther watched as Bradley continued to cough up blood, her fear growing with each episode. She

dreaded the thought of him coughing up blood and sumbing, never to awaken again.

    “Bradley!”

Growing impatient, Bradley forcibly pushed Esther out of the bathroom.

    “Leave!”

He locked the bathroom door behind him, his gaze fixed on his reflection in the mirror. He couldn’t die-

he simply couldn’t. He hadn’t located their twin daughters yet. Dying now was out of the question.

Expelled from the bathroom, Esthernded on the floor and struggled to steady herself. It was then that

    she made up her mind.

Regardless of the circumstances, she would yield to Chadwick’s threats and join forces with the Quills

    to destroy the Pendletons.

After a considerable duration, Bradley finally emerged from the bathroom. Esther moved to assist him,

but he rebuffed her, his tone icy. “I’m not that fragile!”

Esther handed him a painkiller, cing it in his hand. “Take this. It’ll help alleviate your pain.”

Bradley swallowed the pill with a sip of water before sumbing to sleep beside Felix.

After confirming Bradley and Felix were asleep, Esther quietly slipped out of the room. She then

unblocked Jasper’s number on her phone and called him.

“Jasper, I’ve made my decision regarding Chadwick’s ultimatum.”

Jasper, still groggy, took a moment to respond. In a low voice, he asked, “Esther, have you truly

    thought

    this through?”

“Yes,” Esther replied resolutely. “I can’t stand idly by and watch Bradley wither away. I’m ready to do

whatever it takes, as long as it keeps him alive.”

    “I’lle pick you up immediately.”

    “Very well.”

Esther waited at the hospital entrance for Jasper’s arrival.

    “Esther.”

“Jasper, please don’t attempt to dissuade me.” Esther entered the car and gazed out the window at the

passing scenery. “I just want him to survive,” she said softly.

    “He’s incredibly fortunate.”
