Chapter 599
Before Mandy could respond, the call abruptly ended.
“You all heard him. Without his consent, I can’t donate my liver to Bradley. Please, leave,” she said.
Jasper cautiously asked, “What if Esther pretends to agree to marry Chadwick?”
Esther’s heart chilled. Could pretending even work?
Mandy took a deep breath and smiled faintly. “Mr. and Mrs. Warner are still legally married. She can’t
pretend to ept my brother’s proposal, can she?”
“Esther, can you do it?” Jasper’s tone turned icy, cutting to the chase. “To destroy the Pendletons for
good, we first need to stabilize their position.”

Esther hesitated, clenching her fists. “I’m not sure if Brad would agree.”
“Wouldn’t he give his consent if it’s a matter of saving his life?” Mandy probed.
“Bradley is quite domineering, not to mention he’s already at odds with Chadwick. So if he…” Jasper
started but did not finish. “It would be understandable if Bradley disagreed.”
“If Bradley is the deciding factor in this, then I suggest you consult with him thoroughly before…”
Mandy’s voice trailed off when a nurse burst into the room, her face filled with panic. “Miss, your mother
has fainted!”
The group hurried back to the vi.
Liora was in critical condition. The clinic doctors were stumped, and an ambnce was summoned for
her transfer to the hospital.
Sitting alone on a bench, Mandy sped her hands in silent prayer. Not long after, the doctor
emerged.
“Doctor, how’s my mother doing?” Mandy anxiously asked.
“Her condition isn’t good. I’d advise you to be prepared mentally,” the doctor replied.
Mandy’s knees almost gave way, but Esther caught her just in time.
Taking a deep breath topose herself, Mandy entered the room:
“Mom, don’t scare me!”

Liora tenderly stroked her hair, whispering, “Mandy, don’t worry. Your mom is going to be fine. I’ve yet
to see my precious daughter walk down the aisle.”
Mandy had intended to dere she would never marry again in this lifetime. However, the words stuck
in her throat. “Mom, the truth is, I have a boyfriend,” she blurted out, spinning a huge lie.
Liora looked surprised. “When did this happen? Why didn’t I hear about it?”
“My brother introduced us.” A sh of cunning gleamed in Mandy’s eyes. “He’s a businessman with no
elders in his family. That means I won’t have to deal with difficult inw rtionships.”
“You little rascal, holding onto such a big secret! When can you introduce him to me?” Liora responded,
a mix of excitement and anxiety in her tone.
Mandy took her time adjusting the nket over Liora, choosing her next words carefully. “Mom, you
need to get better first. Who else would help me with the kids? Would you be okay if I hired a nanny?”
“Mandy, your mom will be fine. I will certainly help you with the children.”
After taking her medicine, Liora drifted off into a drowsy slumber.
