Felicity hung up the phone and was about to get up when Vermont suddenly grabbed her wrist. “Are
you leaving?” he asked.
Felicity lowered her eyes. “This is your home. I can’t think clearly if I’m—”
Before she could finish her sentence, Vermont suddenly grabbed the back of her neck and kissed her.

leave. At least not tonight. It’s not safe for a girl to go out at night. I’ll stay somewhere else. We can
have a proper chat tomorrow, or whenever you feel like it, okay?”
Felicity kept her eyes down and remained silent.
Vermont instinctively raised his hand to pat her head, but Felicity dodged his touch. This broke
Vermont’s heart. He withdrew his hand with a sense of destion, as he was shocked by her action.
After some time, he said, “I’ll go grab some clothes and leave.”
