    Ste fell silent when she realized that Darcie and Jaylene were the ones with the most to lose from


    her return.


    Though her suspicions might be unfounded, the mother-daughter duo might not be as weing as


    they appeared.


    During the dinner, Darcie had shown genuine warmth, and Jaylene had been polite.


    The meal had been harmonious.


    As the conversation shifted to the choice of venue, Darcie had been thoughtful by providing Ste with


    several options.
