The door of the dressing room was forcefully pushed open as she spoke. Hylda was startled as she
hurriedly hung up the phone.
Turning around, she saw Sophia and was immediately relieved. Then, she scolded, ’Don’t you know
how to knock? You’re the heiress of the Jewell family now. Behave yourself, and don’t make people
think that you’re uncultured and embarrass yourself.”
Sophia’s face was angry when she said in a hateful tone, “That bitch Ste is here!”
Hylda paused and frowned. “Why is that?”
“My dad invited her. You should see how he talked to her just now. He treated her as if she was his own
daughter. Why would he want her here on such an auspicious day? I hate her!”
However, Hylda immediately put her guard up. She said in a deep voice,” Who did shee with?”
“She’s alone, I guess.” Sophia thought for a moment before answering.
Indeed, Ste did arrive alone earlier. “I can’t believe that she’s still acting and dressing like a rich
person after everything that had happened.”
Sophia’s stupidity was driving Hylda mad. “Who asked you about that? I was asking if Keegan was with
her.” Hylda spoke with a frown.
Sophia pouted. “Keegan dide, but not with her.”

Hylda thought about the strange things Albert did back then and suddenly understood what was
happening.
She figured Albert probably believed there was a chance for Ste and Keegan to reconcile, so he
wanted to use this opportunity to win Ste over. In that way, he could leverage the Kane family’s name

She could not help but wonder if Albert thought money was more important than his life.
They had already earned enough money to sustain them for several lifetimes, yet Hylda just could not
figure out why Albert was so insatiable.
“I know Ste is cunning. I’m sure she did something to make Mr. Kane so obsessed with her. She’s
probably faking a pregnancy!”
Hylda was irritated by what Sophia said as she replied with a stern face,” She can’t get pregnant
anyway. That’s not possible.”
Sophia paused. “Mom, what did you say?”
Hylda pursed her lips. “I was just saying that she would’ve done this long ago if that’s really the case.
Keegan is not stupid.” Then, she shifted the topic, “Where’s your father? Tell him toe inside. I have
something to ask him.”
