Book 4: Chapter 29: Outside the Chessboard


    Rhodes Ind’s group moved around hurriedly. Since its members wore the same uniform, they stood out. However, their tidy clothes and equipment made a formidable impression, so they encountered little obstruction.


    Furthermore, Rhodes Ind’s group moved quickly and managed to evade Ursus’s military police.


    Of the 20-odd people in the group, 70 percent were Infected. If they were checked, they couldn’t avoid a conflict with Ursus’s military police. After all, Chernobog was managed by Ursus, a nation famous for its strictness and oppression of the Infected.


    Dobermann chatted with Amiya as they ran. “Although Kal’tsit said there would be amotion, things have been calm so far. I wonder where she got her information from?”


    All the Rhodes Ind operators were very fit; even the other Medic apart from Shining and Nightingale was pretty fit.


    Of course, this did not include Nightingale. Although she had consumed Chen Heng’s medicinal pill, it was impossible for her to recoverpletely before the operation, so Chen Heng transported her; he could spatial jump, after all.


    As the operators ran in front, Chen Heng walked with Nightingale slowly while holding her sleeve. When the distance they trailed grewrge, he would catch up with a spatial jump.


    Don’t ask why they weren’t holding hands. The Trust value was still insufficient. If the Trust value reached 200 not to mention holding hands, they could even do…that.

    “Should we send a warning to the Ursus army?” <em>What a naive little donkey! To think she could say such things.</em>


    “Stop joking. Putting aside whether the Ursus army would trust us, the Ursus military police will arrest us on sight just because we are Infected. If that happens, you can forget about saving Doctor.”


    The journey is quite boring, so I won’t go into detail here.


    Amiya led Rhodes Ind’s group to the core area, where the surrounding buildings were taller.


    Soon, the group arrived at a rtively dpidatedboratory. It looked like a certain biological researchpany, standing out from the many tall buildings.

    Despite thisboratory’s rundown facade, it was still sturdy. Initially, Chen Heng nned on forcefully breaking in, but Amiya produced a card from her pocket.


    The door opened with a swipe of the card.


    Actually, security facilities maintained by electricity were nothing to Chen Heng. Furthermore, looking at how worn the door was, just smashing it with an ax would work. Originium Arts would make it even more convenient.


    After Amiya entered, more than half the group remained outside to keep watch and collect information from the surroundings. The rest followed her through many turns in the corridors before arriving in front of a special facility.


    Why was it special? This facility’s door had the symbol of a skull on it.


    Amiya took a few deep breaths while standing in front of the door, apparently in mental preparation.


    <em>Whoosh!</em> Seeing Amiya sorting her feelings, Chen Heng did not want to interrupt her, so he used his electromaic control ability to open the door.


    As Amiya regained herposure, the door before her suddenly opened. When she looked around, she saw Chen Heng with his hand at the card ess terminal.


    “Uh…I saw you were getting too excited and feared you would do it wrong, so I did it on your behalf,” Chen Heng exined because he sensed Amiya staring at him.


    “…” <em>I’m mentally preparing myself, but you just opened the door directly… </em>


    <em>However, I cannot keep standing at the entrance since the door is open.</em> Amiya led the group in.


    There was nothing inside when the group entered. However, Amiya knew about an underground room for some reason. She pressed a certain spot on the wall, which revealed a passage.


    Arge basement appeared at the end of the passageway. Everyone immediately noticed a stone coffin at the center, connected to densely packed wires transmitting energy.


    There were many other machines that looked expensive, but the group did not know what these machines did.


    Chen Heng could sense it took a vast amount of energy to maintain this stone coffin.


    Furthermore, this stone coffin’s purpose should not just be to preserve Doctor’s life. His instinct told him that this stone coffin had incredible origins.


    As Chen Heng pondered the purpose of this stone coffin, Amiya opened it. Cold air rushed out, and the surrounding temperature plummeted as a result.


    Although the Sarcophagus preserved Doctor’s life, Doctor had been frozen for so long and needed Medics to resuscitate him. The Medics started spouting a bunch of jargon that Chen Heng did not know, professional terms like ventricr fibrition and intravenous injection. Although Chen Heng was like a divine doctor with a 100 cure rate, these terms were all Greek to him.

    Furthermore, even when resuscitating Doctor, they did not take off Doctor’s hat. Poor evaluation.


    Chen Heng took a nce from a distance and could only see Doctor’s head. However, the Medics did not even remove Doctor’s hat; what could he see?

    After ying the main story and looking at the opinions of genius yers on the yers’ forums, he noticed Kal’tsit had beenying a major n.


    Alright, it was mostly because of those genius yers.


    Kal’tsit: Did you read those nonsensical analyses of the yers? I will tell you when I need you. There are many people on the chessboard, and the yers have the necessary pieces. You are the kind of piece that could flip the chessboard and punch the yer.
