Chapter 1132: Sincerity
Chapter 1132: Sincerity
Ayan raised his hand and gently massaged his forehead. With Kian away these days, he had to handle
many tasks on his own. Honestly, his workload was heavy, and he felt quite tired.
Kian immediately agreed upon hearing Ayan''s request and promptly booked a flight back to Hance City
for the next day.
After the call with Kian, Ayan didn''t have any idle time. He had numerous matters to attend to, and he
couldn''t even spare a moment to visit the hospitalter that night to check on the old Simpson.
So, it was up to Camille to go to the hospital alone.
Today was Camille''s turn to apany the old Simpson for dinner as Ayan had important meetings
scheduled. Camille received a text from Ayan in the afternoon, notifying her of his busy schedule.
Camille felt it was manageable on her own. The old Simpson had officially started treatment. Due to his
age, he couldn''t undergo extensive treatments like surgeries immediately. Instead, it required a gradual
approach-improving his health while slowly implementing the treatment n to minimize adverse
reactions or otherplications.
Camille took a driver to the hospital, bringing the old Simpson his favorite sugar-free cookies. Knowing
that the old Simpson couldn''t have too much sweetness, she had ordered them without sugar and
added a natural fruity sweetness to make them enjoyable.
Arriving at the hospital, Camille took the staff elevator to the floor where the old Simpson''s ward was
located, just as she did when Ayan was apanying her. In the ward, the old Simpson was ying
chess with the old butler. Spotting Camille, he immediately beckoned her to join. While Camille wasn''t
particrly interested in chess, she agreed to y with the old Simpson.
After a game, the old butler left to check if dinner was ready. Camille stayed to chat with the old
Simpson. He inquired, "Why are you alone today? Where is he? Did you two have a fight?"
Camille couldn''t help butugh at the old Simpson''s words. She replied, "Grandpa, what do you think?"
"It looks like you had a fight," the old Simpson insisted on his opinion. He continued, "Normally, you
bothe together to visit me. Why is it just you today? Did he not want to see this old man? Cami,
you don''t have to cover for him. Just tell me the truth. If he really doesn''t want to visit me, he doesn''t
have toe anymore."
The old Simpson spoke seriously, as if he genuinely believed what he was saying.
Camille was ustomed to the old Simpson''s way of speaking and tone. Sometimes, he probably
didn''t mean it that way, but he said such things to prevent Camille from getting genuinely upset with
Ayan. If there was a disagreement or an argument between them, he genuinely wanted to ease the
tension and repair their rtionship.
Camille smiled faintly and spoke in a low voice, "Grandpa, Ayan and I are doing well. The reason I
came alone today is that there''s a lot of work at thepany. He has two meetings, so I came by
myself. If you''re angry that he didn''te to see you, we can punish him by making him wash the
dishes and then brew tea for both of us. How does that sound?"
The old Simpson immediatelyughed, "I think that''s a good idea. Let''s go with that. You don''t need to
tell him now; just arrange it the next time hees."
"Okay, I''ll follow your lead," Camille quickly agreed.
Even though it was only Camille apanying the old Simpson, the two got along veryfortably.
The old Simpson always had plenty to say to Camille. Now, the old Simpson showed concern for
Camille, "How are you and Ayantely? Is he treating you well? Is he not bullying you?"
"We''re doing great, and he treats me well. He doesn''t bully me. If he ever dares to, I''ll tell Grandpa right
away," Camille said, looking at the old Simpson with sincerity. Her demeanor was obedient and
respectful, earning her even more affection from the old Simpson.
The old Simpson gazed at Camille and said, "Tell me if there''s anything. If you feel ufortable
telling me, talk to your mother. They genuinely care about you, and they will always stand by your
side."
Camille nodded to each point. Although she didn''t want to hear these words from the old Simpson, her
expression was somewhat downcast, but she didn''t want the old Simpson to see.
She stayed with the old Simpson until around eight in the evening. Ayan messaged her, saying he had
finished work. Camille said goodbye to the old Simpson and left the ward.
Camille took the elevator downstairs. Since it waste and she was alone, coupled with the recent
incident at the Simpson Group parking lot, she didn''t want to go to the garage by herself. She had
already texted the driver to pick her up directly at the hospital gate.
At this hour, the hospital''s inpatient department wasn''t crowded, so she wasn''t worried about being
seen.
However, what Camille didn''t expect was that the more she felt safe from being seen, the more likely it
was to happen.
Just as she was about to reach the hospital gate, she heard a man calling her name, "Cami!!!"
Camille subconsciously looked to the side. When her gaze met the man who was watching her not far
away, her expression involuntarily became indifferent.
Because her mind was preupied, she didn''t pay attention to who called her until she saw the
person, prompting the change in her expression.
She stopped in her tracks, her gaze fixed on the man approaching her step by step, and her expression
grew colder.
The man had walked up to her, still looking at her. His voice was soft as he asked, "Cami, why are you
at the hospital? Is something wrong?"
His eyes assessed Camille, and the way he looked at her made her feel ufortable. Yet, she didn''t
say anything, only stating calmly, "No, just here to visit a friend."
After she spoke, the man''s voice sounded again, "Are you sure there''s nothing wrong? Cami, why are
you alone? Where''s Ayan? Why isn''t he with you?"
Camille replied, "I''m just visiting a friend. I don''t need him to apany me."
Camille was starting to regret not taking the elevator directly to the parking garage. She should have
either called the driver toe upstairs or waited for him at the elevator, avoiding the encounter with
Preston.
She truly found it increasingly challenging to figure out how to interact with Preston. Every interaction
made her feel ufortable, requiring her to be on guard against his spections.
Their gazes met briefly. Camille didn''t want to answer any more of his questions, so she spoke first,
"It''s gettingte. I''m leaving."
Upon hearing Camille''s intention to leave, Preston couldn''t stay still. Frowning, his face betrayed a hint
of displeasure as he stared at Camille and said, "Are you just going to leave like this? Cami, are we
really so distant now? Why don''t you ask me if there''s anything wrong when you see me at the
hospital? Has our friendship of so many years be so estranged?"
Preston''s continuous questioning left Camille bewildered. She stared at him with a slightly indifferent
expression, saying, "You seem fine to me, so I thought there was nothing wrong."
"Oh, really?"
"Yes."
Camille was straightforward, showing no signs of evasion. She knew Preston well, and his obsession
was deeply ingrained, something no one could change.
Perhaps satisfied with Camille''s response, he didn''t press on with that topic. Instead, he shifted to
another matter, saying to Camille, "Cami, is Ayan nning to coborate with Mario?"
He asked, his brows revealing a cold displeasure that was unmistakably clear. Camille couldn''t pretend
not to see it.
Camille pressed her lips together and replied, "I don''t know. I haven''t asked about that."

"Really don''t know?"
"It''s a matter concerning Simpson Group, and it doesn''t concern me. So, I''m not interested."
Camille had reached a point where, logically, he could end this topic. However, he chose not to.
