    Chapter 1249 Near Tears

“Tim hasn''t been sleeping for very long; he only fell asleep after the jab,” Shaun consoled her.

“You must cure Tim, Mr. Bailey!”

Though she wept and sniffled, the girl looked adorable with her ruddy nose.

Shaun squatted down and wiped her tears as he promised her, “Don''t worry. He''ll be fine after the jab.”

Then, he patted her head tenderly.

“Hush, now. Aren''t you going to visit your mother soon? The game would be up if she finds out you''ve

    been crying.”

Jesse sniffled again. “I-I''m not going to give anything away. I''ll just tell her I fell.”

    Her silliness made everybodyugh.

“That''s it. Don''t let anything slip.” Jasper rapped his sister on the head yfully.

    Pouting, Jesse scoffed at him.

“I won''t. You''re the only one who gets fooled by Mommy.”

Jasper pulled a face, not intending to continue arguing with his sister.

Watching the two of them, Oliver spoke up.

“Stop quarreling. Remember what Gavin told us. We mustn''t let Mommy find out about what happened

today, or she''ll be worried sick.”

“It''s best to remain silent around Mommy,” Zachary reminded them.

The children nodded at their brother''s words.

Gavin patted Tim''s hand tenderly. He looked exactly like Benjamin when he frowned.

After several moments of silence, the children told Darius, “Stay here with Tim, Grandpa. We''ll pay

Mommy a visit. She must be starving.”

Mommy''s going to be suspicious if we don''t show up.

“Go on, then. I''ll be here with Tim,” Darius assented. He, too, wanted to see his daughter-inw, but

Tim could not remain alone. In addition, he thought it best not to go, given Benjamin''s n.

The children studied Tim. Though he was asleep, they spoke to him in whispers.

“Rest well, Tim. We''re off to see Mommy now and wille back to youter.”

    Kingsley and Shaun smiled.

“Let''s go. I want to pay your mother a visit too.”

Beckoning the five children, Kingsley walked toward the door.

As he had to guard Tim, Shaun did not go with them.

Led by Kingsley, the children headed to their mother''s ward with dinner.

Arissa was already awake and hungry.

“Why aren''t the children here yet?” she asked the man peeling an apple for her by her bedside as she

gazed at the rays of dusk outside.

Benjamin nced up at her as he handed over the peeled apple slice.

“Have an apple first. They''ll be over soon.”

Arissa opened her mouth and took it. “That''s what you said earlier, too,” she mumbled, shooting a

    nce at him.

Amused, Benjamin produced his phone to call the children.

“I''ll hurry them. What''s taking them so long?”

Before he managed to dial the number, the children''s voices came from the door.

Arissa heard them, too. “Don''t bother,” she said happily. “They''re here!”

Benjamin''s eyes twinkled when he saw how delighted she looked. She would not be able to remain

here if she found out the children had been kidnapped.

    “We''vee to see you, Mommy!”

Jasper''s voice was the first to reach her ears. Soon after, the other children filed into the room.

Arissa''s gaze fell on each of the children in turn. The panic that had been rising within her throughout

    the day began to dissipate.

    “Where''s Tim?”

She stared at the door before turning quizzically to face the others when Tim did not walk through it.

“Tim went with Grandpa to a gathering, Mommy. Grandpa wanted to show us off there, but we

promised to see you. He saw that we wouldn''t leave Tim behind, but since Tim couldn''t say no, he went

with Grandpa. He did not look happy about it, though.”

With a solemn expression, Gavin ryed the whole story smoothly.

Benjamin shot his son a look of approval.
