With that, he hung up the phone and shared a nce with the man next to him before bringing the
other man toward the exit.
Seeing that, Victoria grew anxious.
She then quickly got off the couch and wanted to stop the men from leaving. Dwayne stopped her from
doing that.
“Let me go, Dwayne. Let me go! After tonight, Victor and the Saunders family will be free. I''ll never
have to deal with Lionel again. That''s the best oue for me, and that''s my only way out. Please let
go of me, okay?” Victoria pleaded.
Dwayne pursed his lips because he couldn''t bear to hear her cry for another second. In the end, he
struck her on the back of the neck and knocked her out.
While looking at her teary face, Dwayne uttered gently, “I''m sorry, but I can''t bear to see you being

middle-aged woman walking in with a te of fruits.
Wendy instinctively frowned and growled in displeasure, “Do you usually not knock, Mrs. Gezmond?”
The middle-aged woman was Kimberly Cook, Lionel''s stepmother. Seven years ago, Vincent tricked
Lionel into bed with her. Because of that, the Gezmond family''s reputation was ruined, and Lionel''s
father died of anger as a result.
With an awkward expression, Kimberly answered, “I knocked. I think you didn''t hear it because you
were on the phone. Since I didn''t get a response, I came in straightaway. I''ll be more careful next time.”
Wendy shot her a look in response. She then thought of something, and the solemn look on her face
disappeared in an instant. With a smile, she apologized, “I''ve misunderstood you. I''m sorry.”
With that said, she threw her phone aside and walked toward Kimberly to hold her arm.
After helping her to the couch, Wendy chuckled and said, “Since you''re Lionel''s stepmother and I''m
Lionel''s wife, you''re my mother-inw. You''ve been taking care of the Gezmond family all these years,
and Lionel really appreciates you. From now on, we''ll serve and take care of you.”
A strange light glinted in Kimberly''s eyes. She was an intelligent woman, and she was good at reading
people. That was why Lionel''s father had fallen for her and married her.
“Wends, why isn''t Lionel back yet? It''s already sote at night. Is he meeting someone?” Kimberly
