Chapter 258: Surveince

    The area on Fifth Avenue was located in the Level-10 monster zone of Doomsday City. Prior to the doomsday, this was arguably the busiest street in the whole city. Of course, it was also one of the most severely devastated ces after the disaster hit.


    Guided by an electronic map, Ma Jiang and his twopanions began rushing toward this location. As a Hunt and Kill Squad that had been surviving in the Gathering Area 101, Ma Jiang’s team had embarked on simr hunting missions more than once before. However, this mission proved to be their most devastating, as they lost two members while being transported through the Transmission Array.


    If Ma Jiang had known the oue, he certainly would not have epted this mission.


    “Once we’re back, I will take those useless researchers to task. Miao Wen and Ka Ya’s deaths…can’t just be in vain…” Chu Ping grumbled about the researchers all the while, criticizing their grand ims that the Transmission Array they modified from the prehistoric ruins could guarantee the safe transportation of five careerists.


    It is noteworthy that the previous Transmission Array could only transport amateurs below Level 10. Hence, the Gathering Area 101, despite knowing about the ambush by Song Jian, didn’t send in their reinforcements right away.


    “Other cities have long created Transmission Arrays that can send careerists safely. Only the Gathering Area 101 has just barely scratched the surface of the technology…” Qi Yun clearly harbored no good feelings toward the band of scientists either. The deaths of their twopanions made their mission seem pointless. Even if they managed toplete it sessfully and receive rewards, it won’t make up for their team’s losses.


    “Alright, after we return, I will exin the situation to our leader. We will definitely receive more rewards to make up for everyone’s suffering. However, we mustplete this mission first!” Squad leader Ma Jiang said with a grim face.


    Fifth Avenue was not too far or close to the dump. Without any means of transportation, the three had to run all the way there while dodging mutated zombies. By the time they reached Fifth Avenue, it was starting to get dark.


    There are many shops on Fifth Avenue, most of which were copsed and destroyed. Behind the shops were rows of detached vis. Comparatively, these were far more luxurious than the vi area initially chosen by Song Jian. The green space within themunity is iparable to that of the one chosen by Song Jian.


    But after the disaster, the entire city has turned into a Doomsday City. Even the greenery here was mostly mutated. The high-endmunity turned into a zone of death. Even ordinary mutated zombies wouldn’t dare to approach it.


    For Dr. Ebsiting, thismunity was an excellent hideout. If he had stayed here from the beginning, he could easily have eradicated any number of militiamen from the Gathering Area 101.


    After replenishing the area surrounding his vi with some “Strong Weed Killer”, Dr. Ebsiting returned to hisb. Robert, the former Guardian of the city, had stolen some files before the disaster struck— from a biotechnologypany called “Newborn”. He hid these files in the dump and notified Dr. Ebsiting before the disaster.


    Robert, the former Guardian transformed into a roving zombie BOSS. Dr. Ebsiting had been lurking around Fifth Avenue and was lucky enough to have escaped the virus. A few months ago, he started going to the dump daily to look for the assets Robert concealed.


    If it weren’t for this, Dr. Ebsiting would probably have left this city a long time ago. But at some point, the city’s periphery was enveloped in a ck mist, and everyone who entered it disappeared without a trace. Thus, Dr. Ebsiting was trapped here.


    Luckily, a few days ago, Dr. Ebsiting finally found these files and began to research them. However, even after several days of research, he had not made any progress. After all, he was a doctor of physics and polymer science, not biochemistry. Therefore, he was struggling with an advanced level of professional knowledge.


    “If only Sara were here, she would understand these things…” Dr. Ebsiting sighed and walked away from the experiment table. He took off his sses, took out a photo, and started reminiscing.


    Abruptly, a harsh rm echoed in theb. Dr. Ebsiting’s eyes sharpened, and he left theb heading toward the adjacent surveince room.


    A few months ago, Dr. Ebsiting had installed many cameras and sensors around the streets. Now, an rm would be automatically triggered if anyone entered this area.


    Watching the three fully-equipped men on the surveince screen, Dr. Ebsiting furrowed his brow.


    “Captain, have you noticed that there seem to be fewer and fewer monsters here?” Chu Ping pulled a dagger out of a Level 10 ordinary zombie’s head and asked softly.


    “Stay vignt. There may be an Elite Level BOSS lurking here. Normal monsters wouldn’t dare to encroach on its territory.” Ma Jiang spoke with a furrowed brow. An Elite Level BOSS of Level 10 wouldn’t pose them much of a challenge, but he was concerned about making too much noise in the fight, which might alert Dr. Ebsiting.


    What he didn’t realize, however, was that at this very moment, every move they were making was under Dr. Ebsiting’s surveince.


    “Is it possible to urately locate the doctor?” Qi Yun cast a healing spell on Chu Ping and asked.


    “He didn’t personally participate in killing the militiamen, so the system can’t provide his exact location. We’re going to have to invest some effort in finding him ourselves!” Ma Jiang said. @@novelbin@@


    “What a shame. Why don’t we go kill the god’s favored first? His location is notified once every half-hour. He hasn’t moved for two consecutive notifications!” Chu Ping nced at the captain and suggested.


    “From the battle traces at the dump, it can be concluded that the god’s favored is verypetent. He wiped out an advance squad single-handedly. We need to make even more preparations.” Ma Jiang analyzed: “This Doctor is a researcher without anybat abilities. As soon as we find him, we can easily capture him. From him, we could gain more information about the god’s favored…”


    “You’re the captain, you have the final say. It’s a pity. If Miao Wen were here, he would be able to hack into the city’s surveince system, which would make finding people so much easier.” Chu Ping touched his nose and said.


    “The city has been abandoned for years. The power system has been paralyzed long ago. The city surveince system would have turned into a pile of junk!” Qi Yun scoffed.


    “Junk? How could it be? You see that surveince, isn’t it still working?” Chu Ping pointed at a surveince camera on a traffic light at a crossroad.


    A momentter, the three men seemed to realize something. They all turned their eyes to the surveince camera blinking red—it was in operation, watching over every move they made.
