Chapter 1633
Liam smiled faintly. "Go ahead. However, I must remind you that some of those videos were taken
in private rooms, while others were taken in public ces. They weren''t taken in your home, so
don''t you think that you''ve been a little too reckless, Miss White?"
Liam was worried for Gary when he heard that they were going to report it to the police.
However, Gary was not concerned at all. Instead, he shook his head nonchntly at Liam.
Liam calmed down a little upon seeing Gary''s calmposure.
Cindy was both ashamed and furious when she heard Liam say that, but she did not have an
answer.
The call ended abruptly.
Monica looked at Cindy while she sat on the sofa. She had a distant look in her eye, and she
seemed very weak.
Monica hesitated for a moment before saying, "Don''t think too much. Since things have already
reached this point, just go with the flow. If you can''t stand it anymore, go abroad. You''ll be fine once
everything dies down."
Cindy remained quiet as she lowered her head.
Monica knew that it was because Cindy had no ns to go abroad.
"You don''t want to escape overseas, but it''ll take time to suppress this news. Even then, your career
will be destroyed. The document was very clear. You''ve been cklisted, and you''ll never get
another job in the country again."
"I won''t go abroad." Cindy shook her head. "I won''t do it, even if I never book a job again."
"Have you ever thought that you''ll be hunted down by the wives of the men you''ve had rtionships
with? Do you think they''ll spare you?" Monica pressed, trying her hardest to convince Cindy.
Cindy paused, then raised her head to look at Monica. There was a sh of shame and
helplessness in her eyes. "Monica, I know what you mean, but I''m not leaving."
Seeing Cindy so determined, Monica fell silent.
She sat down facing Cindy and the two of them looked at each other. They were silent for a very
long time.
"What does thepany n to do?" Cindy asked.
"They didn''t say," Monica replied.
Cindy was stunned.
Monica continued, "When I arrived, we got a call from Liam''swyer saying that he wanted to break
his contract. Our boss was very surprised."
Cindy sneered. "Liam is determined to leave this time. Sinir won''t solve my problems either, so
does it mean that he doesn''t want to waste any effort on a washed-up has-been like me?"
Monica was silent.
Her silence implied that Cindy had hit the nail on the head.
Cindy suddenly barked out augh. She had a pathetic look on her face. "Show business is like a
rollercoaster ride. I''ve been through a lot of ups and downs over the years."
"Yes, you have, but never like this. This time, it''s serious, and you can''t suppress it at all," Monica
reminded a little harshly.
Noticing Monica''s agitated expression, Cindy quickly said, "Monica, calm down. Let''s discuss this."
Monica immediately felt a little embarrassed. She realized that she had been overly emotional.
She paused for a moment and said, "Go ahead, Cindy."
"I know it''s unrealistic to ask thepany to help me tide over this crisis. I''m not delusional."
Cindy''s tone became increasingly calmer by the second. She sighed and continued, "We''ve worked
together for many years, and you understand me well."

Monica nodded. "That''s why I feel so sorry for you. This really sucks. I already warned you about
this back in London, but why did you still do it?"
Cindyughed humorlessly and said, "Monica, I''m over forty years old. Tell me, how else do you
think I can book jobs?"
Monica was stunned by the question, and she looked helpless.
Cindy gave a self- deprecatingugh. "There''s nothing left for me at this age. Can I really rely on my
acting skills? How many righteous actors are penniless now? What else can I do? I have to find a
way to survive."
"Cindy, I know you have your difficulties, but these things will ruin you," Monica said.
"Yeah, and my sins have caught up to me." Cindy smiled sadly. "I guess this is the end for me.
Monica, I won''t ask thepany to restore me to my glory days, nor will I ask you to help me. I
won''t go abroad either. I''ll stay here and see where the wind takes me."
Cindy made her stand clear.
Monica looked at her and sighed. "Cindy, we have amon goal. If there was a way to solve this,
I wouldn''t sit by and do nothing."
"I know, so I''m not ming you." Cindy smiled.
Monica stared at Cindy for a moment before she said, "Fine. I''ll make sure Sinir gives you an
answer no matter what. He owes you that much, and he should do it in person."
Cindy pursed her lips and shook her head. "It''s fine. You don''t need to do that."
Monica bit her lip and stood up. "Get some rest. I''ll head out first."
Monica turned to leave, and Cindy did not stop her.
However, Monica was shocked by the gaggle of reporters waiting outside the building. Cameras
shed incessantly around her.
"Monica, can you tell us more about how Cindy has reacted to the news?" one of them asked.
"Has it impacted Cindy''s career? Is she done for?" asked another.
"Was the video of Cindy and the director a personal video or a publicity stunt? How is Their
Media nning to handle this?"
Monica was besieged by a barrage of questions.
She frowned as her assistant helped her navigate the crowd. Then, she left quickly without saying a
word.
The reporters did not get anything newsworthy, so they were disappointed.
Meanwhile, Cindy was sitting alone at home. Looking out of the window, she picked up the phone
and called Celeste.
Celeste was stunned to receive a call from Cindy. "Hello?"
Cindy chuckled into the receiver and said, "Do you know about what happened to me?"
"Hmm," Celeste murmured, indicating that she did.
"How do you feel?" Cindy asked.
Celeste was surprised by the question. Although she was disgusted by Cindy, it did not make her
happy to see the news. Instead, she felt incredibly sad.
Celeste did not reply, so Cindyughed mirthlessly. "Are you d to see my downfall? You must be
celebrating."
"I''m not insane," Celeste replied in a low voice. "Although you got what you deserved, I don''t feel
happy at all. You reap what you sow, so why ask me about my feelings?"
"What? Aren''t you happy?" Cindy asked with a smile.
Celeste felt that Cindy had gone mad to beughing at this time. Then, she frowned and asked,
"Why are you calling me?"
"I just wanted to ask you something. I''ve lost my job and have no way of supporting myself in the
future. Isn''t it time for you to support me?" Cindy asked.
Celeste paused. She had thought about it before. If Cindy fell on hard times, then she should help
her. That was the right thing to do.
Nevertheless, she could not let herself be trapped by her own moralpass.
Hence, Celeste decided to be honest. "We don''t have anything to do with one another."
"Is this your final answer?" Cindy asked.
Celeste nodded. "Yeah, we cut ties the moment you signed the agreement in London."
"I raised you for sixteen years. Celeste, why are you so ruthless?" Cindy''s tone was much sharper
now.
Celeste replied, "Yeah, you did, and I''m thankful for that. I wanted to repay you, but I don''t want you
to ask for it. It''s annoying, and I don''t even feel like helping you at all because you don''t deserve it."
Cindyughed at Celeste''s words. "You''re cruel, Celeste. So cruel, just like your mother."
Celeste''s heart skipped a beat at the mention of her mother. She had no memory of her because
Celeste had no idea who she was.
"Do you want to know who your mother is?" Cindy asked again.
Celeste did not speak.
"If you do, thene over. We''ll talk about your past. Perhaps you''ve always wanted to know who
your parents were and why I took you in. Maybe you also want to know why the world thinks you''re
my illegitimate daughter. Have these questions been bothering you?"
