Chapter 1563
Ernest stood there speechless once more. Leah''s words always kept him on his toes, and he could
never calm down when she was around.
However, Leah tilted her head to look at him, and he couldn''t ignore her inquisitive eyes. Ernest
wanted to deny what she said very much.
s, Leah was certain that it was as Grace said.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Is it so hard to answer my question? It''s not like I''m speaking
some aliennguage. To be honest with you, I actually heard what your mom said." Leah smiled at
Ernest as she spoke.
Ernest blushed as red as a tomato. No matter how many defenses he had, he was sure that Leah''s
boldness would bulldoze through them.
She was very cunning as well.
Ah, Leah was such a fox!
She''d clearly heard his conversation, but she pretended like she didn''t. She made a fool out of him,
and he felt very helpless.

Leah was surprised and a little bit regretful after seeing Ernest''s blushing face.
She had been too bold to try and force Ernest to tell her his innermost thoughts, so she felt
sheepish when he blushed.
Perhaps she had been too invasive, and Ernest didn''t know how to answer her.
However, she was still rather excited even when she was upset. Why was Ernest blushing?
He must have some sort of feelings for her.
Leah felt that she shouldn''t give up this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ask Ernest about this, so
she said, "Why are you blushing?"
Ernest''s face became redder, and he felt very awkward. However, he recovered quickly and looked
over at Leah with a trace of exasperation in his eyes. "Leah, are you always this straightforward?"
She made him want to stick his head in the sand like an ostrich.
Leah nodded without hesitation. "Is it straightforward? I''m just saying that your mom suspects that I
am your girlfriend. With your stuttering, it seems to me that you feel attacked. Is it so hard to answer
her question? It''s not like she''s asking if I''ve slept with you or not."
Ernest became rmed.
He stared at Leah for a long while before saying, "You''re not my girlfriend. We''re just friends."
Ernest believed that his words might force the straightforward Leah to tell him about her thoughts.
However, he neglected to take into ount Leah''s capacity for shyness as well.
She had not reached the point where she could directly confess her love to him.
In fact, Leah''s chest tightened when she heard these words. She felt an inexplicable sense of
disappointment.
She knew that she wouldn''t be able to get Ernest to confess by force.
She thought that Ernest may have had some feelings for her, but it seems that she thought too
much into the situation.
Ernest was not very interested in her at all. Hence, it made Leah a little depressed and annoyed.
Ah, some questions should have remained unasked.
Leah smiled and felt much more rxed. She said to him, "Eat. If you don''t, it''ll get cold."
She obviously didn''t want to continue the topic as it would make her sad.
Ernest decided to do the same after seeing the smile on her face, but he found her smile to be a
little stiff.
Tension suddenly filled the air.
A thought shed through Ernest''s mind. Was Leah mad?
He carefully looked at Leah who was eating silently. She was so near, and yet she felt so far away.
After a moment''s pause, Ernest said, "My mom knows that you''re sick, and she asked me to stay. I
can take care of you."
Leah nodded. "I heard it. Your mom is really nice."
Ernest was confused and he scratched at the nape of his neck. Leah seemed very cold and
disinterested.
"Thanks. She really is." Ernest smiled helplessly at Leah.
"I can tell. Don''t you have anything else to do for the rest of the day?"
"Yup, I don''t. You still sound quite nasally and hoarse, so how about this? Let''s go to the hospital
and hook you up to a drip. A few days of that will do you good, and you''ll be fully recovered in no
time. What do you think?"
"You want me to get an IV drip? The doctor said I can''t get one if I don''t have a fever." Leah frowned
as she refused.
"Generally, IV dripsst for three days."
Leah raised her eyebrow. "Is that so? Then, are you going to be with me all afternoon?"
Ernest replied after some thought, "Not just the afternoon, I think. I''ll stay here tonight, and I won''t
head home until you''re recovered."
"Aren''t you supposed to head back to Ennd?"
To Leah, a person''s studies were paramount. Ernest was a PhD student now, so his bereavement
leave shouldn''t be very long. No matter how reluctant she was for him to leave, she didn''t want him
to neglect his studies.
However, Ernest said, "It doesn''t matter. My mom told me to take my time, and Celeste also came
home together with me and my brother. We''ll stay for a while longer before we go back as
scheduled."
"Oh, I see." Leah was secretly delighted.
It seemed that Ernest would be able to apany her for a while. She had initially thought that he
would leave that very day, and she had no idea when she would see him again.
Furthermore, Ernest had suggested taking her for a drip. Although she had a fear of needles, she
said, "Okay, let''s go to the hospital today. You''re right, I''ll recover quicker with a drip."
Ernest was relieved when Leah epted his suggestion.
Thankfully, she''d always been a very sensible girl.
She used to be very lively, but her illness had robbed her of her previous vitality.
Ernest hoped that Leah would recover as soon as possible and get back to her previous cheery
self.
Then, the both of them savored the porridge Ernest made. He peeled some boiled eggs for her, and
he cared for Leah very well.
After Leah finished eating, Ernest went to wash the dishes and disinfected them.
After that, he went to the living room to find Leah sitting on the sofa looking sprightly.
She didn''t want to sleep either.
In fact, she felt veryfortable with Ernest.
"Won''t you go to bed? I thought you were sleepy. How about you lie down?" Ernest asked.
"You should be lying down instead." Leah looked at her with a trace of mischief in her eyes. "How
about we sleep together?"
Ernest was stunned. Was she propositioning him?
Sleeping together, huh?
That offer was extremely hard to refuse.
Ernest found that Leah''srge doe eyes were very
adorable.
Then, he said, "Okay, but I''m going to feed your turtles first."
"Wow, you remember them?" Leah eximed. "I''m impressed by your attention to detail, Ernest."
"You''ve already eaten, so shouldn''t the turtles be fed too?" Ernest chuckled before he asked, "Don''t
tell me that you don''t know how to feed them? Oh no, they must have been starved!"
Leah immediately felt guilty.
She often forgot to feed her turtles daily.
Sometimes, she fed them once every two days, or once every three days.
However, the turtles were still plump and well.
They didn''t starve to death.
Either way, she felt extremely guilty. Ernest''s words made her feel like she was a cruel owner.
She chanced a nce at Ernest to find him looking at her mischievously. "I was right."
"Fine, you win. You''re right, I often forget to feed the turtles daily. I feel so dumb. It''s like I have
dementia," Leah replied sulkily.
"Don''t be so hard on yourself. Dementia patients aren''t as young and beautiful as you," Ernest
replied.
Leah alsoughed, chasing away the previous depression and disappointment.
"The turtles need to be fed once a day. It can be less often in the winter. I fed them some meat
today, so there''s no need to feed them today. I''ll feed them tomorrow."
"You fed them meat? Where is it? I didn''t have any meat, but howe the turtles get to have
some first?" Leah eximed in surprise.
