Chapter 1560
Leah was nearly asleep when she heard Ernest''s question. Then, she asked, "What do you want
me to ask?"
Ernest smiled bitterly. Was she doing this on purpose?
He highly suspected that was the case.
"Forget it, it''s okay," Ernest smiled bitterly and said.
"Don''t just leave me hanging. You''ve really got me curious here, and I''m not even sleepy anymore.
What do you mean?" Leah asked.
"It''s really nothing. You can sleep now."
"You''re such a passive person, Ernest." Leah was very clear about what he meant, but she was
rendered speechless at his inaction.
However, Ernest didn''t say anything.
Leah sighed and replied, "Thanks, Ernest. I''m sorry to have troubled you today. If you didn''t have to
take care of me, you wouldn''t have to sleep with me either."
Ernest was stunned. Leah''s words sounded like she''d misunderstood him.

He answered, "It''s no trouble at all. Honestly, this might affect you more than you know."
Leah replied, "No one will know if I don''t tell them. Plus, I know you''re a good person since you''re
taking care of me. It''s good karma, Ernest."
He said, "Thanks for your kind words, but don''t mention it. We''re friends after all, aren''t we?"
"Just friends?" Leah''s voice was filled with disappointment, but she quickly calmed herself down.
However, Ernest didn''t say anything.
It seemed like he actually agreed to what she said.
Hence, Leah was truly disappointed and she didn''t make a single sound.
Ah, it was better for her to go to sleep.
She would not get to hear the answer she wanted.
Hence, it was better not to say anything.
Sleep was the best.
Then, Leah closed her eyes and did not say anything else.
Ernest waited for a long time to hear what else Leah had to say, but she did not continue. He
paused for a moment and said, "I think... We''re not just friends!"
After that, he waited for Leah to speak again.
However, Leah did not say a single word. Ernest leaned in closer and heard her steady breathing.
Leah was actually asleep.
Ernest was surprised and rather awkward as well. It was the first time he''d ever had the courage to
say such a thing, but Leah didn''t hear it.
He felt a mix of both disappointment and relief. Then, he sighed and closed his eyes.
He figured that he shouldn''t start a rtionship too young, lest it be destroyed by their immaturity.
He needed to make sure that their bond couldst the test of time.
Leah slept very deeply, but Ernest did not as he was afraid that Leah''s fever would resurface.
On several asions, he reached out his hand to touch Leah''s forehead to see if the temperature
had risen.
Fortunately, it had always been very stable.
He touched Leah''s forehead almost every hour. At nine o''clock in the morning, he reached out and
touched Leah''s forehead again.
Then, Leah just so happened to open her eyes.
At that moment, both of them were a little stunned.
Ernest quickly retracted his hand and said, "I want to see if you have a fever. How do you feel?"
Leah shook her head and said, "There''s no fever, and I feel much better."
However, her voice was rather hoarse and she still had a stuffy nose.
"Do you still want to keep sleeping?" asked Ernest.
Leah nodded and said, "I''ll definitely go back to sleep again. I feel really weak, but I''m hungry at the
same time. Do you think I''ll be okay soon?"
"That means you''re almost healed." Ernest chuckled as he continued, "What would you like to eat?
Is porridge okay?"
Leah nodded and said, "That''s fine, but you''ll have to make some for me. Sorry about that."
"It''s fine. Just wait, I''ll make some for you."
Then, Ernest got up and went to the kitchen to make some porridge.
Meanwhile, Leah got up as well.
She wanted to take a shower as it was rather ufortable without one.
She gathered up some clothes and went to the bathroom.
Ernest didn''t see Leah when he left the kitchen, so he was a little worried. Then, he noticed that
there was the sound of running water in the bathroom.
Ernest was concerned. It was bad for Leah to take a shower in the morning with her cold.
He knocked gently on the bathroom door.
Leah was shocked as she was in the middle of her shower. "Yeah, Ernest?"
"Be quick with the shower, will you? You''re weak, and you''re sick as well. I''m heading out to buy
some things, so I''ll be taking the key," Ernest called out.
"Oh, okay, I got it," Leah said.
After that, Ernest left the house.
He had gone to buy some food as there was nothing but snacks in the house.
He only needed to set the timer for the porridge to be done cooking, so he''d be back in half an hour.
Then, he took the car key and Leah''s apartment key, and headed downstairs.
Twenty minutester, Leah had finished showering and changed into another set of clothes.
She put on the best sweater she had as well as a pair of leggings. Meanwhile, Ernest returned as
she was about to get herself some water.
There were a few bags in his hand, all filled with cooking ingredients, vegetables, and fruits.
Cold air rushed into the room as he opened the door, and Leah shivered unconsciously.
As their eyes met, Ernest was mesmerized. Leah was so beautiful.
Her skin was pale, and she was wearing arge sweater and leggings. The leggings entuated
her long, slender legs.
Then, Ernest immediately put the bags down when he saw her wet hair. "You have to dry your hair.
Let me wash my hands, I''ll help you after I''m done. Do you have a hair dryer?"
Leah nodded. "Yeah. I''ll dry my hair myself, don''t worry about me."
Then, she quickly returned to her room, heart beating wildly.
Ernest cared about her far more than a friend should, but why didn''t he say anything?
Then, she began to dry her hair.
Ernest nced at the door to make sure Leah was drying her hair before he put away the groceries.
She had a cold, so she needed to have light foods.
He bought bananas as they were easier to chew. Other than that, he bought cucumbers too. Ernest
nned to pickle them for Leah to have with the porridge.
Leah entered the kitchen when he was almost
done and asked, "Ernest, you can cook?"
Ernest turned around to see that Leah had put her hair up in a messy bun, and she looked
extremely adorable. But her dainty face was getting skinnier.
However, Ernest was a very humble person and he replied, "Well, yeah. Are you surprised that I
can cook? I''m just a regr guy, Leah, and I need to eat too."
Leah pouted and replied, "You''re rich. Maria said that you have maids and butlers, so how would
you ever have a chance to cook?"
Ernest replied, "Well, I learned how by observing them."
"What a genius," Leah answered and chuckled.
"At the end of the day, people like me are also annoying. We only observe, but never make a
move." Ernest spoke very slowly, but his words seemed to pierce deep into Leah''s chest. She was
getting flustered.
