Chapter 1548

    Chapter 1548

Grace seemed to have noticed Cindy''s presence as well. She was satisfied to see Celeste talking

calmly to her and the fact that they did not quarrel.

It seemed that Celeste had matured. She knew how to deal with Cindy right then.

Celeste did not even tell anyone about her miscarriage. That alone was enough to tell that she was

    getting stronger.

As a woman, Grace understood that pain.

    With that, Cindy left.

After Lawrence was buried, the family headed home. When they returned to the Jones Mansion, it

was already nine o''clock at night.

They had dinner in the hotel. Heinz and Grace both entertained the guests and acquaintances of

    the Jones family.

Hence, everyone had their dinner in the hotel. When they returned home, all of them went to take a

bath and had a change of clothes.

Gary realized that Grace''s attitude towards him was oddly cold. He did not know what had

happened. At first, he thought that Grace was merely too tired after attending the funeral. However,

heter realized that she was especially cold towards him.

She treated Ernest, Lowell and the others well, including Celeste. However, when it came to him,

she immediately put on a cold and indifferent face.

That was probably the first time his mother had given him the cold shoulder.

He was puzzled. When Celeste headed upstairs to take a shower, Gary went to Grace and asked,

"Mom, did I offend you? Why are you treating me so coldly all of a sudden?"

Grace did not feel the slightest awkwardness upon being asked that question at all. Instead, she

admitted to it at once, "So you can tell that I''m treating you coldly, can''t you?"

Gary''s brows furrowed. What did she mean by admitting to it?

That surprised him, "Well then, give me a reason!"

However, Grace sneered, "Don''t you know the reason? Don''t you know what you''ve done? You

should be well aware of it."

Gary''s brows knotted into a deeper frown. He had no idea at all. Staring at Grace in bewilderment,

he asked, "Do you want me to guess? How would I know what I''ve done wrong? Just tell me."

ncing at her son''s dashingly handsome face that resembled Heinz, she gritted her teeth and

forced a single word through her tightly clenched teeth, "Scumbag."

Realization instantly dawned upon Gary. He frowned and swept his gaze towards Lowell, who had

    just entered the room.

With his eyes narrowed, he asked, "Did Lowell tell you anything? He did, right?"

Grace had to admit that her son was smart enough to notice the problem in the blink of an eye, but

    she would never betray Lowell.

She looked at Gary and berated coldly, "Why are you looking at Lowell? Does Lowell know what

you''ve done as well? Great, let''s ask him."

"So it''s not him?" Gary was still suspicious.

"I don''t know what you''re talking about, but I have an idea of what kind of a person you are," Grace

turned to look at Lowell and instructed in a low voice, "Lowell, get over here."

When he entered the room, Lowell noticed the two of them together with their expressions tense.

His heart skipped a beat. A bad feeling rose in his heart.

He noticed it as well. Ever since Gary and Celeste had appeared, Grace''s attitude towards Celeste

had been warm and gentle, but her face immediately turned indifferent when it came to her own

son. It was as if she was apletely different person.

In fact, she treated Gary coldly for the whole day. It was probably because she had seen through

    him, right?

Lowell had not expected that matter to be exposed so soon, so he immediately came forward.

"Grace, I was going to take a shower. Let''s take a shower to wash our bad luck off, alright? What''s

wrong with you two? Why aren''t you two upstairs? What are you still doing downstairs?"

Lowell would always bber when he was anxious, and he had a tendency to try to avoid direct

    gazes.

It was evident that he was guilty.

Gary had been with Lowell for plenty of years, so he could tell at a nce.

His sharp gaze fell on Lowell''s face, looking straight into his eyes.

Lowell avoided his eye contact and did not look at Gary.

"Grace, you should go take a shower and change your clothes," Lowell urged.

Grace was nearly distracted by the question, but she immediately returned to her senses and

grunted, "I''ll take a showerter. Gary said that both of you know about some of his secrets. What is

it I don''t know about? Tell me, satisfy my curiosity."

Grace was intentionally trying to prevent Lowell from getting into trouble. She was trying to help him

    get rid of Gary''s suspicions.

Lowell immediately shook his head, "What kind of secrets can we share? Grace, stop joking."

He wanted to remind Grace not to reveal the truth. Shouldn''t she keep quiet after she''d learned of

    it?

However, Gary snorted as if he had seen through their tricks. He narrowed his eyes and frowned,

"Mom, Lowell, stop putting on an act. I get it. Lowell must have told you."

With guiltiness pervading his heart, Lowell tried to cover it up, "Gary, how could I have told Grace?

Who do you think I am?"

"Lowell Jones!" Gary shouted, "Stop putting on a pretentious act. I can see that you''re a despicable,

two-faced liar. You betrayed me and put on an act to please my mother. You told her about Celeste,

    didn''t you?"

Lowell was stunned. He shifted his gaze away with his shoulders drooping. Oh no, everything was

    exposed.

"Lowell, the moment you lie, you''d try to avoid eye contact. You''d start bbering to change the

subject. Although you don''t want to admit it, I''ve already seen through it," Gary snorted, "So what if

you told her? Even if you didn''t, I would have told her sooner orter anyway."

Grace and Lowell were both stunned.

Only then did Grace think of berating her son, "You did terrible things, yet you still try to be in the

right? What right do you have to do so?"

Gary looked at Grace, "So you''re admitting to it?"

    Grace was left speechless.

Lowell also felt helpless. Gary was simply too smart.

"I was indeed wrong, but I didn''t want it to happen either," Gary lowered his head, and a gloomy

look shed in his eyes, "I''m going upstairs to take a bath now. Lowell, I will remember this."

    With that, Gary left.

Lowell watched as his tall figure disappeared upstairs before looking at Grace and grumbling,

"Grace, I''m in trouble. Didn''t you say that you wouldn''t make it that obvious? I warned you."

Grace had her voice lowered as she said in a wronged tone, "I didn''t express my feelings. I said

    nothing."

Lowell sighed, "You didn''t make your feelings evident? It was written all over your face. Your

indifference towards him was too obvious. There wasn''t even any need for action. Besides, he''s too

    smart."

"He''s a jerk. Why should I treat him well? When I''m reminded of the fact that this jerk is my son, I

want nothing more than to shove him back into my womb and give birth to him all over again."

Lowell was amused and speechless at the same time. He shrugged helplessly and said, "Oh fine, I

owe you and him. Now, he''s going to remember it for the rest of his life. He''s a vengeful person."

"He won''t dare to! If he dares hurt you, I won''t let him off the hook easily," Grace promised, "Don''t

worry, Lowell, everything will be alright."

Upon noticing that, Lowell gave a terrible cry in his heart. Oh well, he might as well take a shower

    and change his clothes.

"No, I have to arrange another room for Celeste to protect her. I won''t let her sleep with Gary,"

Grace stormed upstairs as she said that.
