    Chapter 1545

When Gary had been sleeping for over an hour, Celeste nced at his watch. It was already 9:30

    a.m..

She did not move for fear of disturbing Gary.

He seemed very tired. It was probably because he had not slept well for a long while.

Celeste continued gazing at him. Then, there seemed to be soundsing from outside his door.

After a while of constant noise, she discerned that it was the sounds of doors opening and closing.

Soon after, someone knocked on the door of Gary''s room. Celeste quickly went to open the door.

She was afraid that Gary would wake up from the knocking.

Seeing how soundly he was sleeping, Celeste could not bear to wake him up. She wanted Gary to

continue sleeping for a little while longer.

When she opened the door, she saw Earnest standing outside.

Ernest''s mouth gaped open in surprise at the sight of Celeste there, "Celeste, is that really you? Did

    youe here this morning?"

Celeste was also slightly miffed. She put her finger to her lips to shush Ernest.

Then, she exited the room and closed the door behind her gently. Standing by the door, she

whispered, "Yes, I just arrived this morning. It seems like Gary hasn''t slept well. His eyes are

bloodshot. He hasn''t been sleeping for long."

"Oh, that''s right. He didn''t sleep on the ne either. He''s been insomniac recently," Ernest said,

then added, "He doesn''t look like he''s doing too well."

A stunned Celeste stared back at Ernest, "You mean he has insomnia?"

    "Yeah," Ernest nodded.

Celeste thought for a moment and met Ernest''s gaze, "He''s asleep right now, but it''s not a deep

sleep. He will wake up soon at any movement. If we still have time, why don''t we let him continue

    sleeping for a while?"

"Sure, there''s still time for him to sleep for a while," Ernest looked Celeste in the eye as he asked,

"By the way, do you want to meet my parents? They are both downstairs."

"They''ve gotten up?" Celeste questioned back.

"They got up very early in the morning. I just went down and found that they already had breakfast.

But because of Old Master Jones'' death, the atmosphere is quite somber. Everyone keeps quiet to

    themselves."

    "I see"

That made sense to Celeste. With a recent death in their family, it was impossible for them to be

    happy. They were still mourning.

"Celeste, are you hungry? Do you want to grab something to eat?" Ernest changed the topic.

"I''m not hungry," Celeste shook her head before continuing, "I''ll go downstairs with you to see Uncle

    Jones and Aunt Smith."

"Alright, let''s go," Just like that, Ernest brought Celeste down the stairs. She walked as quietly as

she could for fear of waking Gary up.

Seeing her tiptoe, Ernest sighed to himself. He asked, "Aren''t you being too considerate of my

    brother?"

Celeste pouted, but she did not say anything.

Soon, they arrived downstairs, where they saw Grace and Heinz. Celeste greeted them obediently.

She even gave her condolences formally, "Aunt, uncle, my condolences for your loss."

Grace was taken aback at the sight of Celeste. She eximed, "Celeste!"

Then she got up, walked quickly to Celeste''s side and embraced her.

"You silly girl, you actually came back on your own? Why didn''t youe with Gary and Ernest? It

must have been so hard for you."

In embarrassment, Celeste could only try to smile, "Aunt Smith, I''m sorry. I wasn''t in my right mind

before. Gary asked me to return with him, but I didn''t dare to because I was scared. Soon after, I

realized that I really should return for the funeral, so I came back by myself."

Met with Celeste''s frankness, Grace smiled warmly. She reached out to pat Celeste''s head.

The real reason she did not ask Celeste toe back was because she thought that Celeste would

be stressed out over it. She did not want to pressure Celeste in any way, but she hadn''t expected

her toe back on her own either. Grace was really pleased that she thought of herself as a

    member of the Jones family.

"How could you say that you weren''t in your right mind before? I read too much into things so I

didn''t ask you toe back myself. You''re really a smart and sensible girl," Grace hugged Celeste

again and said, "You should me me for this. I should have invited you. That way, you would have

come back with Gary and Ernest."

Heinz was a little surprised to see Celeste return, but he was d about it nheless. He nodded

at Celeste and said, "Good girl. At the funeral this afternoon, stand beside Gary."

    "Yes, uncle," Celeste nodded seriously.

Grace then pulled Celeste to sit by her side. She carefully scanned her from top to bottom and

asked, "Celeste, why are you so pale? You look anemic. Also, why did you cut your hair short? It''s a

fresh look, but I still prefer you with long hair. You looked really beautiful. Well, I guess short hair is

good too. Trying out different things is good."

"Though I have to say, your face is really too pale. Didn''t the butler take good care of you? After the

funeral is over, I will bring you to the doctor to see what''s going on. It''s not good to be this thin."

As Grace said that, Heinz looked at Celeste too and said, "You don''t look too well. You''re slimmer

than when Ist saw you in Ennd. You seem to be in bad spirits. Stay here for an extra day and

    go see a doctor."

"Uncle, I''m fine," Celeste immediately assured them, "Don''t worry about me. I have gone for a

    checkup myself, I''m fine."

"That won''t do. We can only be rest assured after you go for another checkup. You really look too

sickly. If the checkup shows that you aren''t sick, you should take more supplements. If it shows that

you are ill, we have to treat it right away. We can''t dy it any longer," Grace said firmly. Then, she

asked again, "Oh, you haven''t eaten, have you?"

"I''m not hungry," Celeste immediately shook her head and rified, "I ate on the ne."

"How long has it been? You had that meal early in the morning, didn''t you?" Grace guessed

    correctly right away.

    "Yes," replied Celeste.

"Prepare a nutritious breakfast," Grace instructed the butler beside them.

The butler immediately went to fulfil that task.

After that, Grace continued chatting vigorously with Celeste. Celeste sat beside her, listening

    obediently.

It was quite a while before Heinz interjected, "Alright, that''s quite enough. Let the girl rest for a

while. She must be very tired after her long journey. Get a room for her."

However, Grace shot Heinz a smug look and said, "There''s no need to get her a separate room.

She can sleep with Gary. They''re a couple, so it''s normal for them to stay in a single room. Celeste

will be his wife, after all."

Flustered, Celeste looked away, not knowing what to say.

The corners of Ernest''s mouth twitched. He guessed that his parents probably didn''t know about

Celeste and Gary''s breakup. But it seemed that they had reconciled.

In the end, he didn''t say anything, and Celeste did not object either. Ernest thought to himself that

    they had definitely made up.

As Gary was still not there, Grace asked with no little surprise, "Where''s Gary? Why hasn''t hee

    down yet?"

"Aunt Smith," Celeste immediately tried to exin, "Gary is exhausted. His eyes were bloodshot, so

I decided not to wake him up."

"I see," A meaningful smile touched Grace''s lips right away. She turned to her husband and asked

him, "Heinz, can''t you see? Celeste is considerate. They aren''t even married yet, but everyone

knows that she loves him. Our Gary is really blessed to have such a gentle and considerate

    girlfriend. What a blessing."

Heinz''s lips twitched, but he remained silent.

Hearing how pleased Grace was with her, the only feeling that wracked Celeste was shame.

She felt guilty because she did not treat Gary as well as Grace envisioned.

After a while, the butler served them breakfast.

Grace said, "Celeste, bring your food upstairs to eat. Bring Gary''s share upstairs as well. Get some

rest. We will set off for the funeral home at around noon."

    Celeste wanted to decline.

However, Grace inched closer to her ear and grinned, "Go. I was once young myself. I know that

young couples your age can''t bear being separated."

Celeste felt extremely self- conscious. All she could do was to do as Grace said and she brought

    their breakfast upstairs.

Downstairs, Ernest and his parents remained on the sofa. Only then did Grace lower her voice and

ask, "Ernest, what''s going on with Gary and Celeste? Why didn''t theye back together?"

Ernest shrugged, "Mom, I don''t know. I guess Gary broke up with Celeste and Celeste came back

by herself. I think they must have made up. You arranged for them to stay in the same room, and

Celeste did not object to it, right? They must have reconciled."

"They broke up again?" Grace frowned, "Why did they break up again?"

Beside them, Heinz interjected, "You also broke up with me plenty of times back then, right? Isn''t

this normal for a young couple? They take it as a game. When they know how to cherish each

other, they''ll be getting on in years. We didn''t treasure each other back then, yet look at us. We''re

    growing old together now too."

"Mr. Jones, aren''t you a man who likes to unt his youth? Why are you saying you are old now?"

Grace eyed him and frowned, "I broke up with you because you were a married man, okay?"

Heinz smirked. It seemed that Grace would never stop calling him that.
