Chapter 1513
Celeste lowered her gaze and faced forward steadily, but she could still feel the stareing from
the man beside her from time to time.
She was certain that Gary was there for her. But why did he do that?
Both of them basked in each other''s presence as they walked side by side on the pavement, staying
silent the entire way.
The rain continued to pour as they walked home in silence.
Celeste wore his coat and felt warm.
When they were about to reach the entrance of the vi, she muttered softly, "Gary, you didn''t have
to follow me to the convenience store. It''s quite normal for me to go shopping alone. I''ve been this
way for more than four years now. I''m fine. Don''t worry."
With her emotionless tone, her soft words seized Gary''s heart, which hurt him.
He locked his sorrowful gaze on her face, watching her as sheforted herself with a serious look
on her face.
He sighed as a wave of emotions flickered across his eyes. He didn''t want to admit that he had
gone to the convenience store just for her.
He smiled, exining, "Celeste, I wasn''t there for you. I really wanted to smoke, so I went to buy a
pack of cigarettes."
Celeste was bbergasted. She felt a little embarrassed after hearing that. She couldn''t help but
ask, "When did you start smoking?"
"I''ve been smoking a lot more in the past few months. I''ve been very busy with my research, so I''ll
usually smoke a pack when I can''t sleep. I''m probably somewhat addicted to it at this point," Gary
replied indifferently.
As he said that, his tone was calm. He mentioned that it was a result of histe nights of research,
but Celeste had a feeling that it was caused by their breakup.

Since he denied it, there was no reason to pry any further. Although it seemed slightly deceitful, she
had to keep looking forward. How could they be together if they weren''t meant for each other?
So Celeste epted his exnation. He wanted to smoke, so he went to the convenience store.
"Don''t smoke so much. It isn''t good for your health," she said softly.
Lifting his eyebrows, Gary fixed his gaze on her again, "Celeste, are you concerned about my
health?"
She was taken aback and flustered by the sudden question. She lowered her head to hide the
embarrassment in her eyes.
Gary grinned knowingly when he saw her behave in such a manner.
He knew that she was very stubborn.
But she was kind.
He knew that she would most probably feel ashamed by what he had said, but if he didn''t say it out
loud, she wouldn''t have known how her heart truly felt for him.
He didn''t dare to admit that he had been there for her. He, Gary Smith, had never been in such a
state before.
After a long silence, Celeste decided to ignore his previous question.
She said, "Let''s go home. It''s too cold out."
"Alright, let''s go home," He answered softly.
Celeste felt a warm bubbly feeling in her chest. She longed for a home.
They entered the house together. Pedro saw them enter through the door. He chuckled from a
distance and sneaked away, leaving some space forthem.
As soon as Gary entered, he noticed that there wasn''t anyone in the living room. He frowned and
asked, "Where''s Pedro?"
Celeste looked around and noticed that there wasn''t anyone around.
"Maybe he''s busy."
"Is this how it usually is?" Gary frowned as he asked.
"I''ve never paid any attention to it." Celeste shook her head, "What''s wrong?"
"He''s going overboard. He doesn''t know how to take care of others. Is this how you guys have been
treated all these years?" Gary had his eyebrows furrowed.
"No." Celeste shook her head. "Pedro does a great job. He''s probably just a little busy."
"Don''t speak up for him. He''s just cking off." Gary looked around searching for Pedro.
The more he thought about it, the more his frown deepened. It seemed that Pedro really was
cking off at work.
"This won''t do. I''ll talk to himter and remind him to do his job well. How can he take care of others
like this? I can''t have him ck off and collect his sry just like that."
"Don''t say that. Pedro does an amazing job. He might have be dealing with another problem today,"
Celeste quickly defended Pedro.
Gary decided against arguing with her.
But he stood firm by the fact that Pedro wasn''t doing his job and was getting paid for nothing.
Pedro hid behind a secluded corner as he listened to Gary''sints. Rubbing his nose, he
startedughing at himself. Gary dared speak ill of him behind his back, but it didn''t matter as it was
all part of his n.
He had deliberately created an opportunity for the both of them.
He slowly walked out of the corner and said to the two of them, "Master Gary is right. I''ve
deliberately neglected both of you today."
Both Celeste and Gary were stunned. They looked at Pedro and wondered what he was up to.
Pedro took their umbres with a smile, "I was so worried about your breakup. Why should the both
of you, who are such a good match for each other, fight? After the trip to the convenience store,
both of you seem to be on better terms. Have you finally gotten back together?
Upon hearing him say that, Celeste was dumbfounded.
She shook her head, "Pedro, you shouldn''t overthink things. I won''t make up with him. We''re not
suitable for each other."
With that, she headed upstairs.
Pedro was stunned, his eyes filled with surprise.
Watching her walk away while still wearing Gary''s coat, he muttered, "You haven''t made up with
each other, yet you''re wearing Master Gary''s coat? That''s a sign of forgiveness. Don''t be so
stubborn, Miss Celeste. Please hurry up and make up with him."
As Pedro''s words echoed through the room, Celeste lowered her head and looked at herself. She
was still wearing his jacket.
In an instant, her face flushed red.
Flustered, she hurried up the stairs and ignored both Pedro and Gary who were standing behind
her.
When she disappeared to the second floor, Gary told Pedro, "Since you''re so enthusiastic about
getting us back together, I''ll let it slide just this once. Please take good care of Celeste in the future."
"Master Gary, no matter how well I look after her, it''s iparable to you taking care of her by
yourself." Pedro gave a sly grin, "All girls need to be persuaded. If it doesn''t work, hug her. Don''t
bicker with her so much."
Gary chuckled. He realized that what Pedro had said was quite interesting and made sense.
But was this a problem that could be solved with some simple coaxing?
He had shattered her heart, so he didn''t dare to hug her, let alonefort her.
He was afraid that Celeste would turn around and leave even if he made the slightest movement,
refusing to give him another chance.
He was content with the moment of peace right now as he could at least see her more often. He
didn''t expect too much from this.
Gary met Pedro''s eyes and smiled. Without saying a word, he headed upstairs.
Pedro refused to give up and continued shouting behind him, "Master Gary, I''m not lying. You have
to coax women. Sweet-talk them, don''t put on a cold face, smile more often, and put your good
looks to use. I was bedazzled by your smile before. If you don''t smile more frequently, aren''t you
putting your dashing good looks to waste?"
Gary, who was standing on the stairs, turned around, realizing that Pedro was indeed quite an
interesting character.
"Thank you for the reminder," He said gratefully.
"Don''t mention it. I''m not ttering you, but girls will indeed be starstruck by that smile of yours."
Gary was at a loss for words. He looked at the strong wind and pouring rain outside then smiled
bitterly, "I''ll give it a try."
He giggled. It was such a silly idea.
Gary didn''t waste any more time talking to Pedro. He left with the items he had.
Celeste had already returned to her room, but her things were still with Gary. She was anxious as
she waited for him to head upstairs.
Pedro''s loud voice drifted into her ears. She felt embarrassed.
Celeste personally thought that Pedro was worrying too much about them, but she knew that it was
for their sake, so she pretended not to hear anything as the duo continued their conversation.
Gary headed to Celeste''s room on the second floor. He was surprised to find her door ajar. After
pausing for a brief moment, he walked over and stood by the door, where he could see Celeste''s
slender figure.
She was still wearing his coat. Her petite body was wrapped in it, which made her seem much
smaller and delicate.
But even so, Gary was satisfied.
He couldn''t hug her in his arms, but his clothes could embrace the girl he loved.
He raised his hand and knocked on the door.
Celeste came back to her senses and abruptly turned around.
He actually knocked on the door.
In the past, he would''ve broken into the room in an insufferably arrogant manner.
Celeste was saddened by his sudden change in behavior. He became so polite, and she couldn''t
adapt to it.
"Come in," She said.
Gary entered the room and carried the bags inside. He ced them by her window frame, removed
his pack of cigarettes and a lighter from the bag. The rest of the items were handed over to Celeste
as he was about to exit the room.
Celeste was stunned. She said, "You forgot your stuff."
Gary turned around to nce at her before saying, "These are for you. Oh, I''ll make you a cup of
tea. It''s warm and good for your health."
She shook her head to reject it, "No, drink it yourself."
He burst outughing as he looked at Celeste helplessly, "Why would I drink that to warm my body
up in the middle of the night? It''s for you. Drink it. I''ll head downstairs to get you some hot water."
He then brought the cup of tea to the lower floor.
Watching him leave in a hurry, Celeste was left in a daze, while her heart ached. An indescribable
feeling pervaded her heart.
With a cup of hot tea in hand, he returned to her room. He noticed that Celeste was in a daze the
moment he pushed the door open.
He gently set the cup on her table. The clinking sound startled her as she turned to look at the cup
he ced on her table. Lifting her eyes, she met his own beautiful pitch-ck eyes.
Gary smiled at her. His smile was warm and gentle.
Celeste felt as though his smile was forced and deliberate. Was he taking Pedro''s advice?
So he smiled at her?
She stared at his smile, absent-mindedly, while her heart pounded rapidly.
She looked at him. His hair was short and his facial features were distinct and well- defined. There
were dense veins at the bottom of his eyes, but when he smiled, they were bright and mesmerizing.
His deep gaze fell onto her face, and the corners of his lips were curved up into a dazzling smile.
