Chapter 1508
"Looks like it can''t be helped then. I expected that you wouldn''t want to be friends with me." Janice
laughed at herself. "Alright then. I won''t bother you in the future, Lowell neither."
"You really shouldn''t bother anyone else. I have myself to me for all those previous attempts you
had towards me. I was foolish to have been blinded by your tricks. As for Lowell, you took
advantage of his sincerity."
Gary stood up after giving her a piece of his mind. He hadn''t touched the coffee on the table.
Instead, he ced his money on the counter, paid the bill, and left.
Janice watched his tall figure walk away from the cafe. Droplet of tears fell from her eyes. She pitied
herself for the hopeless love she had for Gary.
Upon returning to his apartment, Gary opened the door and expected to be greeted by Lowell.
It looked like he had just got out of the bathroom. His hands were damp. As always, the typical
Lowell had a gentle and harmless smile on his face.
Gary stared at him and wondered if Lowell knew what Janice was thinking.
He assumed that Lowell would also be very sad.
Lowell greeted him with a smile, "Hey, you''re back. What would you like to eat? I''ll cook something
for you."
Gary nced at him and shook his head. He said, "Lowell, please stop harboring feelings for
Janice. She''s not suitable for you. You deserve to be with someone better."
Lowellughed. "Did Janice finally reveal her cards to you?"
Gary frowned and red at him. "Lowell, have you always known that Janice was interested in
me?"
"Right on." Lowell nodded. "I knew that Janice had some feelings towards you all this time. I wonder
why you didn''t notice, though."
"D*mn it!" Gary was enraged. "If you knew that she had feelings for me, why didn''t you warn me? It
made me look like a fool."
"I thought you were smart. Ever since you were a kid, there wasn''t anything you couldn''t debunk.
You had a talent for calcting every single move. Why couldn''t you see through Janice?" Lowell
asked quietly.
These words caused Gary to twitch his lips in defeat. "Serves me right, I suppose."
"In fact, you may not have realized that you''re treating Janice differently. Like you''re hovering in that
space between lovers and friends. I assumed that maybe Celeste''s introverted personality bored
you, while Janice and her sassy personality made you treat her differently."
"Bollocks to that. The reason why I treated her differently was that I thought you liked her. She could
have been your future partner. However, thest thing I expected was for you to view me in such a
manner." Gary was in such a terrible mood. "Alright, I deserve it. I won''t bother myself with the
person you choose to be with in the future.
Gary was a little emotional. After he finished speaking, he walked towards his room. He then
mmed the door shut.
Behind him, Lowell sighed as he stared at Gary''s move away. He then walked over and spoke to
Gary through the door, "Truthfully, I knew from the start that Janice''s feelings towards you were
different. I''ve also wondered about how long she had those feelings for you. She might have
changed her mind or started paying attention to me. But reality has proven otherwise. I admit that I
liked her cheerful personality, but in the end, it alles to whether she has feelings for me or not.
I was quick to realize that we couldn''t be together. I won''t have any sort of contact with Janice in the
future, and it''s likely that we won''t be friends anymore. You don''t have to put up with Janice because
of me."
The door suddenly swung open.
Gary''s cold, stern face appeared before Lowell''s eyes.
Lowell was slightly amused, but he smiled gently. "Don''t be angry. I''m sincerely apologizing to you."
However, Gary felt that there was no need for an apology. What was the point of one?
Now that things hade to this point, he truly felt that he deserved it. He deserved all this
catastrophe.
This was a heavy blow to his ego.

"I don''t need your apology, it has nothing to do with you." He understood that others had contributed
to this whole mess, but in the end, he only had himself to me.
He was still rational. If only he had been smart enough, or sensible enough, things would have been
different.
Lowell knew that it was pointless to pursue the topic, so he changed the subject.
"By the way, you didn''t tell me about Celeste yesterday. How are things going between you two?
Has she recovered?"
At the very mention of Celeste, Gary''s face darkened. Heughed softly and derided himself, "I''ve
broken up with her. I was serious this time around. There''s no chance between us ever."
"What? So soon?" Lowell was taken aback. He asked with some concern, "How could you two have
gotten this far? I always thought that it wasn''t possible for the two of you to end up in such a state."
"Lowell, stop sticking your nose in my business. This has nothing to do with you. I deserve it. Don''t
mention this anymore. I don''t want to talk about it anymore."
Lowell nodded and said, "If you really don''t want to talk about it, then I will never mention it again."
From then on, neither of them brought up Janice or Celeste ever again.
Gary went to theboratory the next morning and stayed there for three whole days straight. He
abandoned his daily routine of calling Celeste ever since.
But he became more and more withdrawn, being in a foul mood was now his default.
Celeste also started living out her busy life in Ennd, and everything was back to normal.
The housekeeper found this a little strange because she refused to return to her home in
London.
Along with the housekeeper, Ernest and Maria found it strange too.
The housekeeper recalled back to the events when Gary was with her. He found it peculiar that he
hadn''t heard about it since.
November came around, and Ernest had finally made the decision to pick up his phone to call
Celeste.
"Celeste, you haven''t been back to your home in London for two months now. Have you really been
so busy?"
When Celeste received the call, she spoke in a clear tone, "What''s wrong, Ernest? Anything you
want to tell me?"
"Of course there''s something. It''s been two months since you left. You haven''te home since.
We miss you. Do you have time? Come back and visit us."
Celeste immediately began tough. Her voice sounded pleasant, and it seemed like she was in a
good mood.
"Sorry, I''m really busy. I''ve been doing a lot of research recently. It''s been super tough. I''lle
back soon, before Christmas."
"It''s fine if you don''t have time toe home. Maria and I cane visit. Don''t tell me that you
don''t even have half an hour to spare." Ernest smiled and said, "We won''t overstay our wee."
Celeste was taken back. She let out a lightheartedugh. "Forget it, you don''t have to go the extra
mile. I''d better head home. I''ll find some time this weekend, stay the night, and head back the next
day. Let''s get together."
"That''s more like it."
After Ernest hung up the phone, he saw Maria looking at him. "What did she say?"
"She''sing back this weekend." Ernest said, "It seems like something has happened. There
hasn''t been a single phone call from her in two months."
"I don''t know." Maria shrugged. "I''ve had too much on my te to keep up with it."
"What are you busy with?"
"I registered a small entertainmentpany, it''s a really promising industry. I''d love to scout out
Liam Robertson into mypany, but he''s not aware of it yet. I dare not leak this matter, for fear
that Cindy will try and sabotage my business, by paying arge sum to bribe Liam to sign a contract
with her.
Ernest looked at Maria and broke outughing. "You''re getting the hang at being a smart
businesswoman now, calcting your profits and all." "Yes, my dear of cousin. I really need to be
aware of my total costs and expenditures. The money that my father gave me ought to be spent
wisely. It may seem like a huge sum of money, but if I wish to sign a contract with a first-rate artist, I
would need more than that."
"Now, that depends on how you utilize it."
"Alright, let''s not talk about thepany. Let''s get together and talk again when Celestees
back."
