Chapter 1492
Gary thought for a moment before nodding. "Alright then. If that''s the case, it''d be better if you sent
me back. It''ll save me a cab."
Hearing this, Janice curled her lips, and there was a smile in her eyes. "That''s more like it. After all,
we are ssmates. Is there any need to be so distant?"
"Let''s go." Gary dragged his luggage and followed her to the parking lot.
On the way back, Gary sat in the passenger seat.
Janice drove her car and smiled casually. Sheined to Gary, "I was thinking about how
heartless you were back in Ennd and now I regret offering you a ride. I should''ve let you take the
cab."
"What do you mean that I was heartless? You''re so ungrateful. If I hadn''t saved you back then, you
would''ve been sent back a long time ago. Don''t be so greedy."
"You have the gall to say you weren''t heartless. You threw me away and you didn''t care at all. Even
a stranger wouldn''t do that. Not to mention, we''re ssmates."
"You''re too ignorant." Gary didn''t even spare her a nce. "I was with my girlfriend and you were
butting in, it was aggravating."
Janice''s mouth twitched as she said, "You''re one of those people who abandons their friends the
second they start dating."
"You''re right, I''m exactly that kind of person. I just can''t bear to see the woman I love be wronged.
You''re a show off while she likes peace and quiet, I don''t like it when she gets used." Gary said
honestly. He told Janice frankly, "I don''t have a problem with being friends with you, but you have to
respect my boundaries. You shouldn''t get too close to a man and be a hindrance to their life, you
got that?"
"This is the first time you''ve said so much to me." Janice sighed, but she wasn''t angry. "I
understand. I won''t interfere with your life, okay? But should I even greet you if we ever meet again
in the future?"
"That''s all up to you." Gary leaned back on his chair and closed his eyes to rest. Then, turned to
Janice and said, "Wake me up when we arrive, I''ll betaking a nap."
He and Celeste chatted the whole night and fought for the whole day, he didn''t stop until he ran out
of energy. He was out like a light the moment his flight took off.
All he wanted to do was lean back and rest with his eyes closed.
A hint of sadness flitted across Janice''s eyes as she saw how tired he was. However, she quickly
broke into a smile and said, "You''re not having too much sex, aren''t you? If you ejacte too much
when you''re young you might not be able to do the same when you''re older."
"Just drive," Gary said lightly. "My ejaction history has nothing to do with you, it''s fine as along as
my wife isn''t worried."
"Your wife?" Janice sneered again. "You really consider her your wife? Do you really intend to marry
her and grow old together?"
"Yeah, are you surprised? You didn''t expect me to be such an affectionate man, did you?" Gary
asked with his eyes closed.
Janice looked at him and tilted her head. His handsome face was expressionless, but it wasced
with love for Celeste.
"You''re right, I never would''ve expected Mr. Gary to be this affectionate. Always the exceptional role
model."
"It''s nothing you need to concern yourself with. I only belong to Celeste." After speaking, Gary didn''t
bother paying any more attention to Janice. He closed his eyes and fell asleep in a blink.
Janice drove her car, gripping the steering wheel with her long and slender fingers until her
knuckles turned white.
She pursed her lips indignantly with a vexed and cynical look in her eyes, but it was all helpless in
the end. She turned to look at the attractive man beside her, an attractive man that didn''t belong to
her.
She was consumed by mncholy.
After driving for a while, she saw the person beside her was fast asleep.
Janice parked the car in a quiet area on the side of the road, then got off to light a cigarette.
She squatted on the ground and pulled out a stick.
The scarlet fire burned, and wisps of smoke wafted into the air. She was left with a deste
expression on her face.
Gary was asleep in her car for a long time. After smoking five or six cigarettes, Janice got back in
the car. She started the engine and continued driving to his apartment.
She knew that Lowell and Gary lived in the same apartment. When she arrived, she was in no hurry
to wake Gary up. She sat in the driver''s seat as she waited for him to wake up on his own.
She could see he was exhausted through the tenseness in his brows. She sneaked a photo of him
and saved it in her phone.
Gary ended up sleeping for more than two hours. He jolted as he woke, and remembered that
Janice was beside him.
He was dazed as eyes started regaining focus, then, he was brought back to reality.
"Are we there yet?" He asked Janice.
"We arrived a long time ago. You slept so soundly, I didn''t have the heart to wake you up. Don''t you
know how much Celeste loves you? If I push you too much, your body might copse before you
even grow old."
"Don''t talk about her," Gary said in a deep voice. "I''d be delighted. Would anyone else care?"
"D*mn, how have you not died from exhaustion?" Janice gave him a nk look and said, "You''ve
been sleeping for more than two hours. Get out of my car and get some rest. I need to get back to
my ce and sleep too, I''m beginning to doze off."
"I can''t believe I slept for more than two hours." Gary looked at his watch and realized that it had
almost been three hours since time had passed. He cursed instantly, "D*mn it, why didn''t you wake
me up?"
"You looked like you were indulging in your sensual desires, did you think I''d wake you up? Wouldn''t
that disrupt your beautiful dream? How cruel would I be if I woke you up while you were dreaming of
your little girlfriend?"
Gary couldn''t be bothered with her. He took a stretch, unbuckled his seatbelt, opened the door, and
got out.
He patted his numb legs after he stood to full height.
Finally, he turned to Janice and said, "Despite everything, thank you for tonight."
Janice waved him off and said, "Go upstairs and ask Lowell how he''s doing."
"Have you not been contacting Lowell?" Gary asked.
"No," Janice replied tly. "He''s been busy. I don''t want him to be disturbed."
Gary shrugged his shoulders, picked up his luggage, and headed upstairs.
Outside, Janice looked at the figure of back as he left without sparing her a nce. She scolded
him internally, "What a repulsive man!"
She wasn''t in a hurry to leave. Instead, she parked her car by the side of the road, loitering there for
a long while before driving away.
Gary, who had returned to his apartment, took a shower first. He took out his phone and sent a
message to Celeste. "I''ve arrived at my apartment.
You can be at ease now."
After receiving his message, Celeste hastily made a phone call and asked worriedly, "Gary, why did
you arrive sote?"
Quite some time had passed, and it stretched up to four hours before he sent her a text.
Upon hearing the urgency in Celeste''s voice through the phone, Gary felt a little guilty. "Baby, have
you been awake all this time?"
Celeste had not slept, and she answered honestly, "I haven''t slept since you left. I feel so tired when
I close my eyes, but I just can''t fall asleep."
Gary paused, thenforted her immediately, "You don''t have to worry about me. I''m fine. Since I
met up with Janice, I sat in her car instead of taking a cab, and I ended up falling asleep."
When she heard what he had said, Celeste fell silent. She was a little wired. Even though Gary had
openly told her everything, she couldn''t help but overthink. After all, they were miles apart from each
other.
Gary knew Janice had less thanplimentary opinions about him, but he didn''t know how to go
around it. Now, he was beginning to think what Janice said was true. He would take advantage of
the closest thing that could benefit him, and in this case, Celeste was worried about his most recent
benefactor.
They were nownds apart from each other after spending every moment together. If their
rtionship bore unexpected results, what could they even do?

Celeste''s silence snapped Gary back into the present. He hesitated for a bit before exining to
Celeste, "I didn''t do anything else but sleep, really. I was too fatigued."
"I understand, I never said you were doing anything," Celeste smiled and said. "I was just worried
about you. You can go off and get some sleep now. I really have to get some rest now too, I''m
getting sleepy."
After that, Celeste reassured him with a few words and hung up the phone.
Gary held his phone in his hands, and he felt a little nervous. He didn''t know if his silly girl really
minded what had happened or not, but he internally hoped she didn''t.
This time, he was unreservedly telling her the truth.
Celeste stared up at the ceiling with dark circles beneath her eyes, but sleep still would note to
her.
Gary, on the other hand, slept well.
It was daybreak when Celeste eventually fell asleep. She felt much better after finally getting some
shut eye.
Maria called. "Celeste, did Gary leave yet? Should we send him off?" "He left already. He didn''t
want us to see him off."
Celeste said. "I didn''t see him off either." "He''s really gone... Ernest and I were ready to go to the
airport." "He left for Bostonst night."
