Chapter 1417
Janice handed him the key card to her room.
Gary took it and opened the door. Then, he pushed her in.
Janice turned around to look at Gary behind her. There was a pleading look in her eyes as she
mumbled, "I was really scared this time around. They weren''t looking for money, they wanted
something else."
Gary froze and a dark glint appeared in his eyes. He grunted, "It wasn''t right for you toe alone
in the first ce. Maybe you won''t be so lucky next time."
"It''s all your fault. Why did you leave me here?" Janiceined.
"Look," Gary looked at her calmly. After a long while, he said, "There''s nothing between us."
Janice was stunned and she fiddled with her fingers in frustration, "We are friends. You''re the only
one I can seek help from here."
"Janice Simpson," Gary''s tone was livid. He pushed the wheelchair to the side of the sofa and let
go. After that, he walked to the sofa and sat down. His gaze was sharp as he looked at her.
Janice''s heart tightened under his gaze and she felt even more wronged, "Why are you looking at
me like that? It''s scary."
Gary continued to look at Janice. His gaze was dark. After which, he spoke in a calm voice, "Let''s
talk about something."
"Go ahead," She nodded seriously and smiled, "Don''t be so serious. I''m afraid."
Gary pursed his lips. His attitude was still very serious and his tone was also very cold as he
dered, "You are not a person who gets scared easily. If you were really that timid, you wouldn''t
havee to Ennd by yourself."
Janice looked at him cautiously. It was the first time that she had seen him so serious. She replied,
"Well, I admit it. I just thought that since your family members are here, I was bold enough toe
on my own."
"I''ve already rejected you," Gary grunted.
"That''s right, but Gary, I know you''re a very awkward person. You take time to warm up to others,
and I''m used to your rejections. However, I know that although you may look unfriendly, you''re warm
and amicable on the inside. You will help me if I really need your help," Janice said softly with a
pitiful expression on her face, "We''re friends. I''ve always treated you as a friend."
"Friends should have their own boundaries," Gary reminded her once again.
Janice blinked gently. After hesitating for a moment, she sighed softly, "I know. I''ve always treated
you as my big brother because I know that you''re treating me well on ount of my good
rtionship with Lowell. I was always aware of it."
Gary narrowed his eyes and looked at Janice for a while. After nodding, he suggested, "Janice, you
should go back to Boston."
"Huh?" Janice was stunned, "But I haven''t had enough fun yet."
"You won''t be able to have fun in your current state," Gary stated, "I''m not going to apany you
either."

Janice pursed her lips as a sense of grievance shed across her eyes. Finally, she gave in, "I''m
sorry. I was too noisy."
She knew that he was being serious with her, so she could only apologize.
"I always thought that I had to be thick-skinned to be friends with a slow-tempered person like
you. I forgot that you might actually dislike me for being noisy."
Gary did not say anything else.
"Fine, I will go back to Boston soon. Next time when Ie, I will ask my friend to apany me. I
won''t bother you anymore," she smiled again. It seemed that she had pulled herself together, but
her eyes were still red and swollen because of crying.
"I''m going to send the wheelchair back, and then I''ll buy you something to eat," Gary stood up.
Janice hurriedly said, "Could you wait a little longer? Please sit with me for a while. I want to take
my time to calm down."
Gary pursed his lips and had no choice but to sit on the sofa once again.
Janice lowered her gaze, pursed her lips and smiled bitterly. It seemed that she was in a bad state.
Gary frowned slightly, watching Janice''s every move.
He didn''t say anything and just remained silent.
After a while, Janice looked up and said to Gary, "I''ll send the wheelchair downter. You can leave
first. I can call for room service."
Gary stood up, "Alright."
Without stopping, he turned around and walked out.
Janice also got up and prepared to go to the toilet.
However, her stomach hurt. She had just gotten her period and was terribly frightened by the shock
she experienced today. As a result, the minute she got into her room, she felt herself rxing and
the pain kicking in.
"Ow!" She couldn''t help but groan as soon as she got up.
Gary stopped at the door and turned around slightly to look at Janice. Seeing her hunched over and
looking as if she was in great pain, he frowned instantly and walked back.
"Are you alright?"
In a sh, he came to Janice''s side. When he saw the beads of sweat on Janice''s forehead, he felt
a chill run down his spine.
"Ouch," Janice felt a little embarrassed when she looked up at him. She shed him a shaky smile
and said, "Um, I''m fine. It''s just menstrual cramps. You can leave now."
Gary was startled. He frowned and asked urgently, "Are you alright? Do you need to see a doctor?"
"There''s no need for that. I''ll go to the washroom and lie downter," Janice restrained herself and
smiled at him, "You can leave now."
Seeing that she didn''t insist on pestering him and that she wasn''t joking around with him anymore,
Gary asked, "Do you need me to buy you some hot drinks?"
"There''s no need to," Janice shook her head. "There''s room service."
Even so, Gary still called for room service and ordered a cup of hot milk for her.
After Janice came back from the toilet, she found that he hadn''t left yet. There was a ss of warm
milk in his hand.
He handed it over to her.
"Thank you," Janiceughed, "Look at you. When I ask you to leave, you stay here. When I ask you
to stay, you insist on leaving."
Gary nced at her and answered, "Call me if you need anything. It''s time for me to leave."
"Alright," She nodded at him with a sweet smile.
With that, Gary left.
When he went upstairs and opened the door, he suddenly realized something. He looked down at
the card in his hand and suddenly remembered that Celeste didn''t have ess to the room. He had
forgotten to give Celeste the key to their room.
Where was she now?
A chill ran down his spine. He stood at the door and looked towards the other end of the corridor.
At that moment, there was no one in the corridor. He was the only one there.
He entered the room again and searched high and low for her. No one was there.
It seemed that she really wasn''t there.
Gary immediately went to Ava''s room and knocked on the door.
It didn''t take long for Ava to open the door. When she saw Gary, she smiled faintly, "Are you looking
for Celeste?"
"Where is she?" Gary asked.
"She''s not here," Ava shrugged andughed sarcastically, "So it''s only now that you realize Celeste
doesn''t have the key card to the room?"
Gary''s heart tightened and he felt very ufortable. Behind Ava''s eyes, he felt as she was trying
to hint at something.
"Is she in the room?" He took a deep breath and asked calmly.
"No, she wants some peace and quiet for a while," Ava said, "You can call her."
Gary was momentarily taken aback. Only then did he realize that he could call her.
He turned around and left without saying thanks.
Ava shrugged and closed the door.
In the meantime, Gary grabbed his phone and made a call in the hallway.
Fortunately, the call was soon connected. Celeste picked up the phone.
"Where are you?"
Celeste heard his voice and replied, "I''m next door. I didn''t have a room card and I couldn''t ask you
for it at that time, so I just booked myself another room. You don''t have to worry about me. Just stay
with Miss Simpson a little longer. She''s in a bad mood."
"Celeste," For some reason, Gary became very anxious. He felt as though something was crushing
his heart slowly, and he could see spots dancing in his vision.
"I''m not angry," Celeste''s tone was still t and calm, "I''m fine. You really don''t have to worry about
me. I''m fine."
"Celeste, I''m in the hallway," Gary requested gingerly, "Come out. I want to see you right now."
It was only now that Celeste realized he was already here.
She walked to the door and opened it toe out of the room. At the door of the room next door,
Gary stood there and looked at her with a burning gaze.
Celeste forced a smile at him, "You''re back?"
"You booked a new room?" He asked in a hesitant tone.
Celeste nodded, "I didn''t have a room card, so I just checked into another room."
Gary''s face was a little apologetic as he sighed, "I didn''t give it to you. I''m sorry, I forgot."
She shook her head and didn''t argue about it. Instead, she changed the topic, "By the way, how’s
Janice? Why did youe up so soon?"
"I sent her to her room. How she''s doing now is her own business," Gary''s eyes were fixed on
Celeste. He wanted to know if she was angry.
Celeste lowered her eyes slightly and smiled bitterly.
Maybe Janice was right. It was clear that Gary was concerned about Janice''s safety, yet he always
pretended that he wasn''t worried about her. He really contradicted himself.
The smile on her lips made Gary frown.
