    Chapter 1414

The car left the parking lot quickly and soon got on the highway. Celeste could no longer see

    Janice.

She didn''t know how Janice was at the moment.

If she was the one who was left in the parking lot in that way, she would probably break down

    crying.

Although Gary had ridiculed Janice a few times, Janice was still able to smile. To put it bluntly,

    Celeste kind of admired Janice.

At the very least, she felt that Janice was a very optimistic girl. Otherwise, who would be able to

    withstand Gary''s fierce firepower?

"It''s better for us to go back," Celeste couldn''t hold herself back, "It''s not appropriate for us to leave

a girl like her like this."

"I know this attitude of mine is very vile and not gentlemanly at all," Gary exined, "Furthermore, I

also know that if I were to act like a gentleman and go back to pick her up, you wouldn''t feel

    comfortable with that."

Celeste was stunned for a moment. Then, she frowned slightly.

"Celeste, what on earth do you want me to do?" Gary didn''t seem angry. His tone was calm and he

even nced at Celeste before saying, "I don''t want to talk to her, but you force me to do so. When

I talk to her, you want to break up with me. What do you think I should do?"

Celeste was astounded and didn''t say a word.

Gary had no intention of stopping. He continued driving forward while ranting, "She came to

Edinburgh herself. I told you several times before, but you never believed me. Do you understand

    my feelings now?"

Celeste pursed her lips and didn''t know what to say.

Janice was really a very cheerful person. She could move forward so optimistically and not care

about being looked down upon by others at all.

That alone was such a brave move.

"But she''s left there alone. What if she does something stupid?" Celeste told him her concerns.

"Something stupid?" Gary sneered, "You''ll probably break down first before she does."

Celeste was stunned. What was he implying by that?

To him, she was probably the type of person who would always overthink things.

Gary continued, "Celeste, you won''t believe me no matter how many times I say it. Let''s talk about

this matter in an objective way."

Celeste''s eyes widened. Was he trying tomunicate with her?

As long as they could talk calmly, she would naturally be happy.

    "Go ahead."

"She called me several times today, but I didn''t answer," Gary said, "I wasn''t willing to answer her

call, so there''s nothing for me to say. If you knew about this, you would probably feel very

    ufortable, wouldn''t you?"

Celeste didn''t want to admit it, but she didn''t want to lie either.

"We''ve broken up. It doesn''t matter whether I''m willing or not."

"himph," Gary scoffed, "Whether we break up or not, you''ll still feel ufortable. Please take this

matter seriously and stop trying to steer the conversation away."

This was precisely how sharp he was. He would insist until he obtained the answer he desired, be it

    by hook or by crook.

Celeste nodded, "Yes, that''s try. I''d feel very ufortable."

Thanks to Celeste''s acknowledgment, Gary''s tone softened a little. He continued, "You saw just now

that she said she ran here herself. I didn''t invite her to join us."

    "Yes."

"I didn''t intend to take her with me in the first ce," He confessed, "First, I didn''t think it would be

convenient for the two of us. It would be troublesome if she were to be the third wheel. Second, she

should understand that she shouldn''t take the initiative to trouble others. There''s absolutely nothing

    between us."

    There wasn''t?

    Celeste was a little confused.

She looked at Gary in surprise, her eyes filled with indescribable emotions.

"But you still insisted on taking her along with us. I already refused, yet you tried to persuade me. If I

were to really give in to your demands, you''d definitely feel ufortable," Gary continued.

He had analyzed her thoughts so thoroughly.

Even Celeste herself knew that she was making a fuss about it. If Janice was here, she would feel

awkward for sure. But now, she felt that she had gone too far by leaving Janice there.

She was at odds with herself. On one hand, she could not bear to leave Janice behind, but on the

other hand, she really felt ufortable with Janice''s presence.

Such worries made Celeste seem like a pettier and even more hateful person.

"Let''s go home," She hesitated for a moment and sighed, "She''s a girl, and I''m still worried that

something bad will happen to her. I admit, I do mind, but I still insist on doing so this time. I think we

should pick her up and have a meal together, okay?"

"She''s an adult now," Gary reminded impatiently, "What could happen to her? She should have

some sort of awareness. If she''s alone, she should have the decency to not go around by herself."

After thinking for a while, Celeste still thought that if something bad were to happen to Janice, she''d

never forgive herself for the rest of her life.

"But what if something happens?" Celeste asked softly, "Will you and I be at peace in our hearts?"

Gary didn''t pay any attention to Celeste. On the contrary, he became even more determined and

dered, "She won''t get in trouble. If anything happens to her, she''ll have to be responsible for it

herself. It''ll have nothing to do with us."

Seeing that he was so persistent, Celeste said no more.

Gary didn''t go back in the end and continued bringing her around to enjoy the scenery. The sunset

that day was gorgeous, but Celeste found it dull and tasteless.

Perhaps her mood had been affected as it truly was very difficult for her to muster any shred of

    happiness.

Gary was also very silent. The two of them were both at a loss for words.

At dinner time, Gary wanted to bring her out to eat, but Celeste shook her head and said, "Let''s go

back. There''s a lot of things you''ve bought that we haven''t finished yet. Don''t waste them."

She did not make any moreints and looked quite calm.

Gary still insisted, "Let''s go to the restaurant. I''ve already booked a ce."

Eventually, she didn''t make things difficult for Gary. Instead, Celeste followed him to the restaurant.

After ordering some food, some dishes were served. Just then, Celeste received a call from Ava.

She picked it up quickly, and Ava''s slightly anxious voice was soon heard, "Celeste, the girl who

was with your so- called brother has gotten into trouble."

"What kind of trouble?" Celeste''s heart skipped a beat.

"She was surrounded by several men alone. When I turned around and went to the hotel to look for

help, she was gone. Do you want to inform your brother and see if he can make a phone call to

    her?"

"I''ll do it right away," Celeste quickly said, "Ava, thank you."

After hanging up, Celeste immediately said to Gary with a serious expression, "Ava told me that

Janice is in trouble. She saw her being surrounded by a few men."

Gary was stunned. He immediately took out his phone and called Janice.

Looking at his anxious look, Celeste knew that it was not the time to feel jealous, but she still felt a

    little disappointed.

Gary tried to call her, but no one picked up the phone.

"She''s not answering it," He frowned, the frustration making the veins on his forehead throb

violently. He looked quite furious as he cursed, "D*mn it, Janice. Answer my call." "Let''s go,"

Celeste stood up and took her bag. She ced down some money and left without taking a bite.

Gary stood up as well. The two of them walked out of the dining room, one behind the other.

On the way back, Gary was on the phone while driving.

Celeste was worried, "Pay attention to the road. I''ll make the calls. We''ll call the police if you still

    can''t get in touch."

Gary nced at Celeste and nodded, "Alright, I''ll leave it to you."

Celeste made a phone call as soon as he put down his phone. The phone rang, but still, no one

    answered.

Celeste called her several times, but none of her calls went through.

Their car sped up as they approached the hotel. Celeste did not stop Gary from slowing down. After

all, dire times called for desperate measures.

They would first find Janice and talk about itter.

The phone suddenly rang and Celeste took a look at the phone. It was a call from Ava.

    "Hey, Ava."

"I found the girl," Ava said, "She''s in shock. We are going back right now."

Celeste let out a sigh of relief. "That''s great. Is she all right?"

"She''s just not in a good mood. Other than that, she''s fine."

"We''re reaching the hotel soon," Celeste replied, "Ava, please take care of her."

    "No problem."

Soon, they arrived at the hotel.

In the lobby on the first floor of the hotel, they saw Ava and Janice.

Janice''s clothes were ripped and her round shoulders were exposed. Her bag was also torn open

and her hair was a little messy.

Celeste was frightened upon seeing her in such a state.

Meanwhile, Gary was gloomy and kept staring at Janice.

"Celeste," Ava saw Celeste and quickly said.

Janice turned around as well. Tears had stained her entire face and left no spot dry. She bit her lips

and said nothing, staring at Gary with an aggrieved look in her eyes. She looked pitiful, as though

she was waiting for Gary to say something first.

Gary pursed his lips. His cold and sinister face was gloomy. His eyes rose and fell as though he was

hesitating about something. In the end, however, he took a step forward and walked over, asking,

    "What happened?"

When Janice heard him speak, she instantly threw herself into his arms. She wrapped her arms

around Gary''s neck tightly and burst into tears.
