    Chapter 1396

"Celeste, you must be kidding," Janiceughed in return, but she felt that the atmosphere was quite

    strange.

She looked suspiciously at Celeste, and turned to look at Gary. She really could not understand

what was going on between these two siblings.

    Everything felt a little weird.

Especially Gary. His gaze was as cold as ice, making it seem like it was snowing in the middle of

    summer.

Celeste smiled again. Just when she was about to say something, her phone rang. The urgent

sound of her ringtone broke the awkward atmosphere.

Celeste picked up the call immediately without looking at Janice or Gary for approval. Then, she

spoke with a hint of surprise and joy in her tone.

"Oh, hi, Flynt. Yes, I''m in Edinburgh," She smiled, and it was obvious that she was very happy to

receive the call, "Right now? It''s fine for me, I have nothing important going on. Okay, I''ll go and

    look for you."

After hanging up, she looked at Janice and Gary and said, "I''m sorry, Gary and Miss Simpson, my

friend is also in Edinburgh and he is looking for me. I have to meet up with him right now. You guys

can enjoy the meal. There''s no need to order any food for me."

"How are you going there?" Gary''s dark eyes were churning with gloomy emotions. His mood was

all over the ce and he could no longer understand himself, "Let me and Janice drop you off."

"There''s no need to," Celeste refused firmly, "I can go there by myself. You guys should eat first

    since you are hungry."

    "It''s alright," Gary replied.

"I''m sorry, Gary," Celeste said with a faint smile, "I''m going to meet a friend, so I don''t think it would

be appropriate if you were to follow me. Also, I''m all grown up now. In the past, I didn''t need you to

follow me everywhere, and that''ll be the same for me in the future."

After saying that, she smiled apologetically at Janice and said, "Miss Simpson, I''m leaving.

    Goodbye."

"Oh, goodbye," Janice also felt very bewildered, but she still expressed her understanding. She

nodded her head and watched as Celeste left quickly.

Gary sat there with a dark look on his face. The

expression on his face was livid.

"Gary, do you have a poor rtionship with your sister?" Janice said doubtfully, "As I listened to the

both of you speak, it felt like there was an invisible tension hanging in the air. Your sister seems to

    dislike you a lot."

Gary did not say anything. However, the look in his eyes was fierce, as if he was thinking of doing

    something evil.

Janice gulped in fear and looked at Gary. She asked tentatively, "Reading between the lines, you

looked like you were trying to say something to your sister. What''s wrong with you guys?"

"It''s none of your business," Gary shot coldly.

    Janice was momentarily stunned.

Gary stood up and walked to the ce where Celeste sat just now. He sat down and stopped

    talking.

Janice was puzzled. She stared at Gary and thought that he was acting exceptionally unusual.

After ordering the dishes, she said, "I think that your sister was very happy to receive that person''s

phone call. Is that person her boyfriend?"

Upon hearing this, the light in Gary''s eyes dimmed, and he felt like his whole body had been dipped

    in icy cold water.

Janice looked at him again, and the unhappy expression on his face suddenly allowed her toe

to a realization. She eximed in disbelief, "Oh, I get it now. Do you have a sisterplex? That

has to be it! After all, what else could exin the look on your face after finding out that your sister

has a boyfriend? Do you need to see a psychologist?"

Gary looked at her nonchntly, but Janice felt that he wanted to tear her apart there and then.

"Why are you looking at me like that? I''m just saying that you have a sisterplex. Just admit it. A

lot of fathers and brothers feel this way, it''s not something to be embarrassed about."

    "Shut up," Gary snapped.

"I won''t shut up," Janice recalled what Celeste said and retorted, "No wonder your sister said that

you''ve always felt superior about yourself. It seems like that''s the truth. You are used to

commanding and instructing people. But I won''t shut up, and why should I? My mouth is mine, and I

can say whatever I want to say."

    Gary frowned deeply.

Perhaps what Janice said about Celeste really hit the nail on the head.

Celeste said that he had always been acting all high and mighty.

He pursed his lips together and said nothing.

Janice rolled her eyes at him, "You''re really a spoilt child. Everyone has to observe your mood when

they talk to you. Every time I see Lowell talking to you in a soft tone, I feel kind of angry. Why do you

always pick on Lowell? He''s not your servant. You bully Lowell and I, but we don''t make a fuss

about it. I never thought that you would treat your sister like this too."

There was still no expression on Gary''s cold face, but his eyes were radiating a blood-thirsty glow.

Janice pursed her lips and continued to make fun of him, "You like to bully your sister, but you also

love her deeply. Tell me, do you know how contradictory you are? You are the pettiest person in the

    entire world, Gary."

Gary''s face was as pale as death. He said coldly, "The most self-righteous woman in the world is

    you, Janice."

Janice did not get angry at all. Instead, she burst intoughter. She did not seem to care about such

words at all. She was not as petty and as calctive as normal girls.

She just looked at Gary andughed coolly, "That''s right. So what if I''m full of myself? I''m very

happy with myself anyways. I won''t get angry at whatever you say. As for you, it feels like you get

angry about the slightest things other people say. It''s like you''re living in a volcano that''s constantly

erupting. Just look in the mirror now! Why the long face?"

Gary stopped talking. The food was served and he ate quietly.

"Flynt," Janice muttered to herself, "He must be a romantic, gentle and passionate man. Women

    always prefer gentlemen."

With a loud tter, Gary ced his knife and fork down on the table and looked at Janice with a

piercing gaze, "Are you going to let me eat in peace?"

"I didn''t stuff anything in your mouth to interrupt you, so please help yourself and eat whatever you

    want to," Janice shrugged.

"Since you adore men who are gentle, you should apany Lowell who is in Boston instead,"

Garymented coldly, "Lowell is gentle and considerate, but you alwayse to annoy me."

"Haha," Janice snickered, "That''s because I''m just like you. We are born rebellious, and we don''t

like to y by the rules. I''m not blind, of course, I know that Lowell is gentle and caring. I don''t need

you to tell me that." "In that case, please go back to Boston."

"I haven''t had enough fun here," Janiceughed gloatingly at his misfortune, "What a coincidence.

I''m born to go against people. Why are you ordering me around? I want to have fun in Edinburgh. If

you don''t want to be here, you can leave."

"Now that I know your sister is here, I can meet her every day. Since we live in the same hotel, it will

be very convenient for me to find her. I have her phone number too. You can leave, and I''ll have fun

    with your sister."

Janice did not seem to mind. Just then, Gary immediately got up and walked out.

    "Hey, where are you going?"

The only answer to her question was silence as he left in a cold and indifferent manner.

Without saying a single word, he left his meal halfway.

Aftering out of the hotel, Gary got into the car. He started the engine and drove around

    aimlessly on the street.

On the other hand, Celeste received a call from her senior. This senior had helped her before in the

past, and he was a very good person. However, ever since he graduated, she had never seen him

    or met him after that.

Hence, she did not expect to receive a phone call from Flynt Quartley in Edinburgh. Since she did

not want to eat together with Gary and Janice either, this was a perfect excuse for her to leave.

Now, she was sitting in a Michelin-star restaurant with Flynt.

As soon as Flynt saw her, he invited her to have dinner in a fancy restaurant.

"Celeste, it''s been two years since west met. You seem much more confident than before," Flynt

greeted her with a smile as he looked at Celeste, who was sitting opposite him.

    This belongs ? N?velDra/ma.Org.

"You look different from before too, Flynt," Celeste said as she looked at him. From the conversation

just now, she knew that he had started working in Edinburgh. After graduating, he chose to stay in

Ennd. He wanted to work here for a few years before returning home.

"People grow up," Flyntughed, "You are still too young. You were only 18 years old two years

ago, and now you are 20, right?"

"That''s right," Celeste nodded, "You have an impressive memory."

"I''m seven years older than you," Flynt chuckled, "Are you working or studying right now?"

"I''m still doing my postgraduate studies," Celeste said.

"Are you nning to get a doctoral degree?" "Well, I''ve never thought about this, but I want to dive

into more professional fields. I''ll wait and see whates next," Celeste exined softly, "At the

very least, I''m still going to be a student for the next three years. As for my future, I haven''t really

    given it much thought."
