Chapter 1234
"Then let''s have some kebabs. Do you like spicy kebabs?" After Celeste returned to the country,
she developed a love for kebabs.
"Sure," Ernest looked at her gently. He didn''t say much nor did he ask too much. He just replied,
"Let''s go then."
With that, the two went to the street near the school to have some kebabs.
In the distance, Gary, who was sitting in the car, had a gloomy look in his eyes. He watched quietly
as the two left and didn''t say anything.
After a long while, the driver asked, "Master Gary, shall we leave?"
"Let''s head back home."
"Yes."
The car soon left.
The streets were very quiet. As usual, there was not much mor.
Celeste and Ernest were already in the kebab restaurant.
Celeste ordered a bunch of kebabs. She turned to Ernest and asked, "What do you like?"
"Anything is fine with me," Ernest was still as easygoing as ever.
Celeste ordered a wide variety of foods but all were in small quantities. She wasn''t certain what
Ernest''s tastebuds were like.
After the dishes were served, there were tons of dishes on the table. It looked particrly
sumptuous.
"Ernest, do you want to call your brother and see if he is willing to join us?" While Celeste was
waiting for all the dishes to be served. She couldn''t hold herself and asked Ernest.
Seeing that she couldn''t let this matter slip, Ernest took out his phone and called Gary.
As expected, he was led to voicemail. Gary had switched his phone off.
Ernest could only shrug and sigh, "His phone is switched off."
"If that''s the case, do you want to ask your family and see if your brother is back?" Celeste thought
of this.
Ernest grabbed his phone and once again made a call home.
"Mr. Butler, has Gary returned?"
The butler immediately replied, "He just came back, but he doesn''t seem too pleased."
"Did he say anything?"
"He didn''t say anything. He went upstairs the moment he came home."
Ernest had anticipated this to happen. He could only respond, "Alright, I see."
After hanging up the phone, Ernest could only frown at Celeste, "He''s back home, but he doesn''t
seem too pleased."
"Back home?" Celeste was stupefied again, "He was already not pleased when he left. I just can''t
understand why he is not pleased?"? 2024 N?v/el/Dram/a.Org.
"You''ll know when you grow up," Ernest replied. When his eyes fell on Celeste''s innocent face, a
smile shed in his eyes.
Perhaps Maria was too smart. Since they were young, they already had a hard time dealing with
her.
Because of such a bothersome cousin, they had learned not to pay attention to most rowdy girls.
Celeste was an exception.
After all, Celeste was very innocent. Apart from her studies, she didn''t really care about anything
else. She didn''t have too many friends either.
Perhaps this was what they found interesting in
Celeste.
She didn''t care much about the world around her and thus, she didn''t involve herself in too many
things. All in all, Celeste was quite interesting.
Celeste fell silent for a long time. Some timeter, she grumbled "Aren''t you guys only sixteen? You
guys are just a few months older than me, but you are all saying that I will understand when I grow
up. Are you implying that I''m childish?"
"No, that''s not what I meant," Ernest quickly waved his hand and exined, "Don''t misunderstand."
"It''s nothing, I think you are the one that is misunderstanding. You don''t have to exin in a hurry,
I''m not mad. You are not the only one who calls me childish. Maria also often says that I am
childish. I''ve even been called a retard before," Celeste said as she waved the skewer in her hand.
"What!" Ernest was once again taken aback, "You''re so kind and generous."
"As I said, I can''t judge a person by my own moral standards. I can''t control others'' views either. It''s
better to convince myself to ignore them than to care about other people''s opinions. Perhaps in the
eyes of others, I am really dumb, but I am not affected the slightest bit. Thus, it is not a problem for
me."
This statement of hers was quite unique.
However, Ernest couldn''t refute her statement and even felt that it made quite some sense.
Celeste was such a person. She looked silly, but she scored her exams with flying colors.
She was ranked third in the exam for skipping grades. Of course, the top of the ss was none
other than Gary.
Ernest was ranked second. He wasn''t too concerned about whether he was ranked first, which was
why Gary had always been ranked first. All these years, he had always been ranked second.
Ernest had been ustomed to this situation for a long time.
"Celeste, sometimes I really wonder how you get such great results in your exams," Ernest was
curious about how Celeste managed to pass her exams with flying colours.
"I''m serious when the teachers are teaching, and I don''t get distracted in ss. I have my own way
of studying efficiently, so I usually manage to absorb what is being taught in ss in a short period
of time after ss ends."
"This is indeed the key to good grades. You should pay attention in ss and understand it
thoroughly. But only a few people are able to achieve such levels of concentration. Most of the
students are easily distracted."
"I know, right?" Celeste chuckled and shed him a sweet and slightly proud smile. Then, she
picked up a kebab and handed it to Ernest, offering, "Here. Eat up."
Ernest took a look and found that some kelp was wrapped around the skewer. He took it graciously
and frowned slightly, but he still took a bite.
"Well, it doesn''t taste that bad" He put the skewer down and didn''t really eat too much.
"See? It''s nice, isn''t it?" Celeste seemed to enjoy the food a lot. She ate three of the kelp kebabs in
a row and looked quite content.
Ernest didn''t continue eating the kelp kebab, but Celeste handed another one to him again.
"Ernest, why are you not eating?"
"I am," Ernest grabbed another one and took another bite. After that, he kept picking up the
meatballs. He left the kelp aside and only took two small bites of it.
Until the very end, Celeste did not realize that Ernest did not eat the kelp.
The two of them dined together for a long time. They didn''t finish until it was dark outside.
When Celeste went to pay the bill, she was told,
"Hey, your friend has already paid for it."
"When did you pay for it?" Celeste was very surprised, "Why wasn''t I aware of it?"
Ernestughed, "I paid for it on my way to the washroom a while ago."
"But, I said that I''m treating you to this meal," Celeste was conflicted.
"We are friends, so it doesn''t matter who is paying for the meal. Besides, I''m a boy. I''d be
embarrassed if I had a girl pay for my meal."
"You and your ego," Celeste felt a little helpless and didn''t continue to argue with him.
"I admit that I have my pride," Ernest stared at her, his gaze suggestive as he asked, "Do you hate
it?"
Celeste shook her head and replied, "Nope. I realized that a lot of local men like to act bossy and I
have grown ustomed to it."
"My brother is more of a male chauvinist than I am," Ernest said again and looked at Celeste with
an obscure smile in his gaze.
"Agreed," Celeste nodded, "I can see that your brother is definitely in the extreme part of the
spectrum. Ernest, I''ve always been very curious. With his personality, why isn''t hisst name
Jones? He is such a male chauvinist, so shouldn''t he have a traditional mindset?"
