Chapter 776

    Chapter 776

"Jensen, you can take your leave first. I need to have a word with Heinz. Heinz, you stay," Candace

interrupted them just as they were about to leave.

"I have nothing to say to you. Madam Lowe, since we clearly do not get along, let''s not put ourselves in

a position where we have topromise with each other," Heinz rejected her instructions.

It was best for them both to not get in the middle of each other''s affairs.

Now that Heinz had met Candace, the mother whom Grace was so disappointed in, he pretty much

    understood her character.

Even if she had difficulties, she should not have abandoned her own children and left for an easy life.

Jensen stood up. The respect he initially extended to Candace had disappeared altogether from his

gaze. All that was left now was an obviously indifferent feeling towards her.

    He headed for the door.

Heinz too hurried his pace and was about to leave.

"Hold on, Heinz. I really have something to speak to you alone," Candace interjected anxiously.

"You need to talk to me alone? Madam Lowe, is it really something that cannot be discussed in front of

others? I for one, have nothing to hide anymore. For the sole reason that you are Grace''s mother, I will

give you another chance. Whatever it is that you have to say, you can say it to me right here, right

now," replied Heinz with a smile.

Candace frowned, then nced at Zachary and motioned for him to leave first.

Since Heinz didn''t want to talk to her alone, she had to coerce the others to leave by themselves.

However, Zachary didn''t leave. He, too, was very disappointed with Candace''s request.

"Aunt Candace, there is a limit to how you do things. The same goes for how one carries themselves.

Please don''t take everything for granted and keep pushing people''s buttons," he said. He was clearly

quite ticked off by her behavior.

"Zachary, as I said, you may take your leave," Candace interrupted him unfeelingly, "There is no need

for you to talk so much. I have something to talk to Heinz alone now."

"Madam Lowe, as I just said, I have nothing to say to you alone," Heinz repeated himself in a low voice.

"Since you don''t get the hint, let me make myself clear. You''d better know your limits and we''ll be on

    good terms."

"Otherwise, if you hurt Grace''s feelings again, I won''t let the person who hurts her get off the hook so

    easily."

Heinz stood in the living hall as his tall frame towered over the rest of them, almost as if asserting his

presence as the only one left in the world. There was a strong sense of determination to protect Grace

at all costs in his callous gaze.

Candace dared not look into Heinz''s eyes at that moment.

His gaze was so intent and serious that it was almost frightening to her.

"Five minutes is all I''m asking for. Let''s please talk," Candace insisted once again.

"I have nothing to say to you," Heinz refused once and for all, then headed out of the Smith family''s

Vi, not giving Candace the chance to speak with him alone.

Zachary and Jensen trailed right after him.

The three of them stood at the gate outside the yard.

Heinz took out a pack of cigarettes and handed it out to each of them. The three of them lit the

    cigarettes and started smoking.

Candace caught up with them from inside the vi. She stood on the steps of the vi and looked at the

three of them who were smoking at the gates outside.

Zachary could not do anything but apologize to them, "I''m sorry. I don''t know what''s going on with her

today. I feel very embarrassed that she looked for you inexplicably and wants to interfere with your

    freedom of love."

"It''s none of your business." Heinz shook his head, "If she wants to look for us, she''s bound to find us

    anyway."

After flicking the ashes from his cigarette, Heinz looked around and happened to see Candace, who

was standing on the steps in the courtyard.

He whispered, "Her real purpose of looking for us cannot possibly be just to break us up."

"What else could it be? If it isn''t to tear our rtionships apart, what else could it be?" Jensen asked

    with a frown.

"There must be something more to it," answered Heinz. He looked at Candace, who was standing on

the steps in the distance, looking very obviously anxious.

Although he did not know why she had returned, there was one definite conclusion he could draw. She

had been away for many years and had never properly taken care of Grace and Alice. Therefore, it

would definitely not be caring of them that she had returned now.

If that was the case, then there had to be something else that she hadn''t mentioned.

"I can tell that she''s very anxious."

"I saw it too. She looked very anxious," echoed Jensen in agreement.

"She didn''t tell us the truth about why she wanted to meet us. Or at least the whole truth," said Heinz.

Zachary, who was taken by surprise, frowned as he looked back at Candace from a distance. She still

stood frozen on the steps, as if wanting toe over.

It seemed that she really had something she needed to get off her chest to Heinz.

"What exactly is she nning to do?" Zachary continued to frown as he thought out loud.

"To give us a hard time, that''s what," said Heinz bluntly.

Zachary and Jensen were both shocked as they abruptly shifted their focus onto

    Candace from Heinz.

"Heinz, people who seek you out are almost always either looking for love or money. Would you like to

resolve this once and for all?" Jensen asked.

Heinz''s gaze was frosty, almost as if it was drained of emotions.

"I''m worried that if her motive is to ask for money and she does not seed with it, she will move on to

trouble Grace," Jensen raised his concern.

Heinz''s gaze turned serious as he said, "I''ll go straighten this out. Wait right here for me."

He walked back to the vi shortly after.

Seeing Heinz walking back, Candace''s gaze was filled with surprise and joy.

She soon calmed herself down and watched him walk to the bottom of the stairs then look at her.

"You''re finally back," Candace said with a hint of pride in her tone.

"I''m back because I didn''t want you to harass Grace and make her upset," Heinz replied monotonously.

"Madam Lowe, what''s your motive in looking for me? Just cut to the chase. I don''t like beating around

    the bush."

Candace smiled a little and praised him, "What a straightforward person you are. I knew deep down

    that you''re a smart person."

"But I don''t think you''re a smart person, Madam Lowe. A smart person knows what to do and what not

to do," he criticized her outwardly.

Candace smiled and said, "Okay, I''ll drop this matter then. Let''s get down to business."

"I''m all ears," said Heinz who had long lost his patience.

"I want to ask you for some money," Candace requested.

Heinz looked at her, who looked as if everything that had happened was as it should be, and sneered,

"Yes. One hundred million dors is really not arge sum of money for me, but why should I give it to

    you?"

She was not borrowing it from him, but asking for it.

Heinz was really bbergasted by her. She actually treated him as her ATM.
