Chapter 774

    Chapter 774

He was not too shabby himself. He was a young, slim, and dapper- looking man. Candace looked at

him for a moment with squinted eyes.

The three of them felt her presence almost as soon as she appeared in the corners.

All three of them looked up at her simultaneously.

As a policeman, Jensen had sharp eyes. He nced at the stairs on the second floor and met

Candace''s gaze; she was sizing him up.

Jensen stood up out of courtesy, but he was also sizing her up.

Heinz, who also caught sight of Candace, stood up as well.

Zachary followed suit as all three of them looked at her.

"Aunt Candace, Heinz is here," Zachary said as he looked at Candace who was standing at the corner

of the stairs. "This is Officer Charm, Jensen Charm. He''s Alice''s boyfriend," he added.

Candace, who was taken by surprise, frowned as she looked at Jensen and went on to nod a little as

she stared at him. Shortly after, she made her way down the stairs.

She looked at Heinz and then Jensen as she processed what she had just learned. Alice''s boyfriend

caught her off guard. What''s more, he was a policeman.

    A poor policeman.

Candace frowned as she walked up to them.

Her gaze alternated between Heinz and Jensen several times.

"Hello," she smiled as she greeted them.

Heinz on the other hand was sizing her up himself. She was a middle-aged woman who did not look

very old and had some makeup on. She had a very goodplexion, even with the face powder she

    had on.

On top of that, she had a slim figure that had a naturally elegant demeanor.

It was evident which of her two parents whom Grace and Alice took after. Grace was the spitting image

    of Candace.

"Hello, Madam Lowe," Heinz nodded and greeted her.

"Hello, Madam Lowe," Jensen echoed after him.

The formal greeting felt courteous and distant.

Candace frowned at Zachary when she was greeted by her daughters'' boyfriends.

Zachary understood very well what bothered her. However, he felt that she was in no ce to be upset,

given that it was her own behavior that brought up this situation, to begin with.

"So, Aunt Candace, what did you want to talk to Heinz about? The floor is all yours," probed Zachary.

"Please have a seat." Candace invited them. "I asked Heinz toe here because I want to know

about what happened between him and Grace."

Upon hearing this, Heinz raised his eyebrows. Subconsciously, he did not think that the reason

Candace was looking for him was to simply ask about that.

At the very least, not all of them.

Heinz was not in a hurry to answer her. Instead, he sat down and looked at her, saying, "Madam Lowe,

Grace and I have been through quite a bit. I admit that I didn''t treat her the way she should have been

    treated."

"You have a wife, don''t you?" Candace asked bluntly, "Why did you still pursue Grace?"

Even Heinz was surprised by her straightforwardness. He answered sincerely, "I''ve already divorced

Jodie. I just couldn''t help myself from falling in love with Grace. Now, I want to marry her and be with

    her."

Candace was taken aback and stared at his determined face. She seemed to have been consumed by

her thoughts and what she had just heard from him.

All three men looked at her in anticipation of her response to no avail.

"Aunt Candace?" Zachary called out to her to snap her out of her thoughts as it was evident that she

    was consumed by them.

Candace came back to her senses abruptly and said, "So, you simply couldn''t help yourself..."

Heinz paused as he expected her to finish her sentence.

"Do you have any idea of the harm you have brought upon Grace simply because you couldn''t help

yourself from falling in love with her?" Candace continued almost as if interrogating him. "Yourck of

self-control has put her in countless troubles. What do you have to say for that?"

"I''ll make it up to her. I''m going to try my best to make up to Grace for everything in the future," echoed

    Heinz in response.

She squinted and questioned with a sneer, "Mr. Jones, words with no actions are worthless. By

pursuing her while still being a married man, you have turned her into a mistress and you dare talk

    about all these sweet nothings?"

"What happened before is indeed my burden to bear. I will give Grace nothing but the best I have to

    offer," Heinz promised.

Candace''s smile faded and her countenance became rather somber. "Mr. Jones, let''s get straight to the

point. You''re not suitable for Grace. The only thing you''ve given her by far is devastation," she said

    bluntly.

Heinz was taken aback. He pursed his lips and tried to conceal the difort.

He was ashamed, as all that he had brought to Grace were indeed negative experiences.

"You''re right, I''ve only brought nothing by troubles and negativity to Grace. I admit that and I am going

to make up to her for it." Heinz said.

Candace scoffed, "Mr. Jones, you must have made lots of derations like this with no actions backing

them up. I''m pretty sure you know what I mean. You know that you have broken the promises you''ve

made to Grace countless times now, don''t you?"

Heinz was at a loss for words being questioned by her; nevertheless, he remained respectful towards

    her.

Zachary, however, couldn''t take it anymore. He understood very well that Heinz was simply being

    respectful of his future mother-inw.

However, being the irresponsible mother that she was, Candace had gone too far by criticizing Heinz in

the manner that she had done.

"Aunt Candace, it''s great that Grace is with Heinz now. I''m pretty sure they will figure things out."

Zachary was stunned. She had really got the best of him this time around.

Just then, Heinz voiced out, "It doesn''t matter. It is reasonable for Grace''s mother to reproach me."

"Mr. Jones, your attitude surprises me," said Candace with a surprised look.

It was rumored that Heinz was very unruly.

She looked at him and then at Jensen, saying, "I didn''t expect that my little daughter, Alice, would settle

    for a policeman as her

    boyfriend."

Jensen pursed his lips out of courtesy and smiled, "Let''s say it''s fate. I''m going to treat Alice no less

    than she deserves."

"I simply do not believe in a policeman''s promise," sneered Candace in a harsh tone. She shook her

head and teased, "You are worse than Heinz."

Now that the conversation hade to this point, they could not be any more immersed in each other''s

    discussions.

Jensen frowned and looked a little awkward. He looked at Candace and didn''t know what to say in

    response to her.

Hearing that, the three of them were all stunned altogether.

No one had expected that Candace woulde back to make trouble. Moreover, in such an

    overbearing and rude manner.

Heinz frowned and looked at Candace, asking, "Madam Lowe, what''s the reason?"

"You''re just not suitable for her." Candace answered in a low voice, "You''ve been married before, and

she has never. You''re simply not the right fit for her."

"I already have two children with Grace. Madam Lowe, are you not going to consider the children''s

future when you brought this up?" Heinz guestioned her bluntly.
