Chapter 771

    Chapter 771

"Jodie and her father had an altercation right after the arson and he passed away. I''ve just arrived at

the lock-up and am about to pay her a visit," Heinz answered.

"Dead? There has been no news about that yet," said a very surprised Zachary.

"Oh, it''ll be stered on all the news channels soon enough," Heinz reassured him. "What''s up?"

"Grace''s mother is back and she''s hurt her pretty badly. I''m giving you the heads up so you can be

    prepared for it," Zachary replied.

"Grace''s mother is back?" Heinz asked, not being able to suppress how surprised he was. "She''s back

and has hurt Grace badly? What do you mean by that?"

"You have no idea, do you? Aunt Candace said a lot of hurtful things to her," exined Zachary.

"Got it," Heinz replied. "I only know that her mother has not been there and caused a stir during the

time she left. Many people said that Mrs. Smith didn''t care about morality and loyalty and left Mr. Smith

alone. Since then, Sunny Group has been in crisis. Mr. Smith, on the other hand, was unable to recover

from that setback and passed away shortly after."

"Yes." Zachary supported his brief. "I don''t know why Aunt Candace ising back now. She wanted

to meet Grace and Alice, but Grace refused. Then, she requested to see you and asked me to ask you

out. I refused her as well, but I''m afraid that she wille to you."

"I''ll meet her," said Heinz as he frowned.

"Wait, you want to meet her? Why?" Zachary, who was taken by surprise, asked.

"I want to meet Madam Lowe to get a clear picture of her exact intentions. If she wants to hurt Alice

and Grace, I will not sit back and watch. However, if there is anything more to her sudden appearance,

I can acknowledge them as well. Grace has suffered a lot for me. It is right that I do something for her

as well." Heinz went on to exin himself.

"Are you sure you can bear this matter?" Zachary asked, rather worried. Heinz also seemed a little

worried. "I always felt that it''s not so easy for you to deal with this matter. You don''t know much about

Aunt Candace''s character. She actually came back and ordered Grace around after having left them for

so many years as if nothing has happened," Zachary exined.

"She ordered Grace around?" Heinz couldn''t hide his somber tone. "Then I should take care of it all the

    more," he said.

"Are you sure?" Probed Zachary after pondering for a moment.

"Please ask Madam Lowe out for me. I would like to see her," Heinz requested. "Make it in an hour and

I''ll leave the venue up to you."

"Let''s make it at the Smith family''s home; it only seems fitting. Perhaps the setting might just touch her

in a way to soften up to her family," said Zachary.

"Alright, it''s up to you," Heinz acknowledged the suggestion and hung up shortly after.

Jensen, who was right next to him, looked at him and asked, "Did you just say that Grace and Alice''s

    mother is back?"

"Yes. Here''s a thought, why don''t we both go together and meet our future mother-inw?" Heinz

    suggested.

Jensen nodded and replied, "As far as I know, Alice doesn''t ept this mother of hers at all."

"She probably wants to see me because she''s yet to get to know you. Let''s make use of this

opportunity to get to know each other better," Heinz suggested again.

"Okay." Jensen agreed. "Let''s go. I want to meet this great future mother-inw too."

Heinz looked inside the lock-up. Jodie was now cuffed and locked up in there. A crime of arson called

for the perpetrator to be taken into custody as well.

Heinz''s gaze became much sharper. He said in a low voice, "I''ll meet Jodie first. Keep your eyes on her

at all times." His gaze was as sharp as an eagle.

    "Roger that."

    Two minutester.

Heinz sat at the table in the visitor room as the door inside opened with a tter. The heavy wooden

door gave off a deep and distant sound as it was opened.

Not long after, a policeman appeared with Jodie.

At the sight of Heinz, her eyes were full of hatred. She looked him in the eyes as she sneered, "Heinz,

are you satisfied now? You must be very happy with what has be of me, aren''t you?"

They locked gazes as the hatred and resentment radiated from their eyes.

Heinz could tell that Jodie did not feel an ounce of remorse, not even after she had upset her father,

Nathan, so much that it caused his death.

"I''m not satisfied. It seems that you''re the one who is satisfied with how things have turned out. You set

an open fire regardless of the threat you brought to your biological parents. And if that wasn''t enough,

you caused Nathan''s death and hit Pearlyn, all within a matter of minutes. When did you be so

ruthless, Jodie?" Heinz reprimanded her as she seemed to be taken over by a little emotion.

"He died of anger because he has a short life. He has lived a hard life. I killed him so that he would be

set free," she answered unfeelingly. She sat down in front of Heinz and looked at him with the table

between them. Her gaze was sharp and full of hatred.

"You''re not a single bit remorseful for what you have done," he roared, realizing that there was no

    turning back for Jodie now.

"Six years ago, you were apletely different person," he added, with a touch of sadness in his eyes.

"I was too naive six years ago." She sneered, "Heinz, why have youe here? To remind me of what

I was like years ago? Let me tell you this, whatever I have be today, it is all because of you."

Heinz furrowed his eyebrows and replied, "There''s no other reason for this. You''re the root cause of

    your current state."

"Don''t get philosophical with me." Jodie sneered, "I was on cloud nine when you got our marriage

registered Heinz, but you never did consummate our marriage. Why is that?"

Heinz furrowed his eyebrows tightly. The mention of this matter made him somewhat disgusted.

    That was indeed the case.

Heinz was still surprised to be hit with this question.

After they registered for marriage, they became less and less intimate with each other.

He did not seem to have any interest in it anymore. In fact, he regretted having registered their

    marriage too soon.

Therefore, after the registration, he turned a cold shoulder to her.

Perhaps the reason why he was reluctant to hold a grand wedding with Jodie was because he was

    avoiding her.

As it turned out, Jodie was indeed not his wife. It was just a moment of passion that they were together.

From this point of view, he felt very sorry for her.

That was because he knew deep down that he didn''t really treat her well.

When he thought about it, he finally understood that any divorce was actually long-premeditated.

Their day- to- day behaviors had decided whether the two of them would be bound together or stray

    apart.

"In fact, even if I did so, you would have asked for more."
