Chapter 766
Heinz looked at Grace as he held her in his arms and said, "I hope that after this crisis, everything
unpleasant will vanish and we can be happy together."
"Everything will be fine," she replied as she gazed at him with tenderness. She felt that the experience
this time around really calmed her down a lot.
"In that case, shall we get our marriage registered tomorrow?" Heinz seized the opportunity toy out
his cards on the table. This was what he worried about the most; the fear that she would not want to
marry him, so much so that it had him feeling anxious.
Stunned, Grace recollected herself then, and responded, "We''re in no hurry to get married. Why are
you in such a hurry?"
How could Heinz not be anxious? They have almost registered their marriagest time, but s, what
happened, happened. It is only understandable why he was worried that Grace would leave him.
With that, he decided that it would be wise to have her officially bound to him. What binds two people
more than a marriage certificate right? The marriage was just like a lock, one that would bind her to his
side.
"I can''t wait any longer," said Heinz. "I just want to be with you and never be separated from you
again."
"Heinz." Grace called out to him to catch his attention. "The divorce certificate indicates that you and
Jodie have just gotten divorced. It''s far too soon for us to get married now."
"Are you really bothered by this?"
"Of course it does. I don''t want to be the talk of the town again. Besides, everything is happening too
quickly, hence I''m very worried.
I don''t think it''s appropriate for us to get married now," she exined.
"When do you think would be appropriate for us to get married then?" Pressed a rather anxious Heinz.
"Let''s wait and see."
Although he was very disappointed with the oue of the conversation, seeing that it was Graces''
wish, he nodded in agreement and concluded their conversation.
In the Lawsons'' ce.
Halfway through their journey to the hotel, Lester, who had been entrusted to drive Nathan, Pearlyn
and Queenie, was requested to detour to the Lawson family home. They had a change of mind and
wanted to see their home for themselves.

At first nce, several fire trucks were seen surrounding their house. Jodie, on the other hand, was
handcuffed by the police moments after they had arrived.
"What the hell is going on?" Nathan roared as he walked over.
When Jodie saw her parents, she smiled sinisterly. "You old b*stards, how dare you stand against me
and try to destroy me? Since you''re out for my head, I''m going to destroy you too. I''m going to make it
impossible for you to live here once you''re old," she cursed.
Hearing Jodie''s words left Nathan stunned in his tracks as he felt a pang of fear creep under his skin.
"Jodie, how did you be so unreasonable? Do you know how painful it is for us to see you behave
this way?" He asked as he looked at her with incredulity in his gaze.
"Why didn''t you just die of pain, you old b*stard?" Jodie cursed at him. "You didn''t even die when you
got admitted to the hospital. You were only admitted for a night and then discharged from the hospital
to hold a press conference, kissing up to Heinz and Grace. You''re behaving more like their father than
mine."
Tears welled up in her eyes as she spoke. She then went on to wail loudly.
Nathan lowered his gaze and looked at her. There was such a mix of emotions that he couldn''t put his
foot down on what he was feeling through all theplications.
He sighed as he looked at Jodie and apologized, "Oh Jodie, it''s all my fault. I didn''t educate you well,
and on top of that, I couldn''t understand your feelings," he sighed as he looked at Jodie and
apologized.
"I''m so sorry, Honey. You should be someone else''s daughter in your next life. As it turns out, we are
indeed unqualified to be your parents. We do not deserve you."
The police officers, who had overheard the entire conversation between him and Jodie, were instantly
displeased and they voiced out their criticism. "She''s almost thirty years old. She won''t reflect on what
she has done if you speak to her in this manner. You really don''t know how to educate your offspring,
and that is exactly what caused her to behave like a savage today."
Nathan felt pathetic. The policeman was right. He did in fact not know how to raise his daughter right.
With a self-deprecating smile, he looked at the police and said with sympathy, "Officer, it''s my fault for
not educating her well and causing you trouble, but regardless of the mistakes made, she is still my
daughter. Please take her away. I may not have much time left, so please educate her for me.
Otherwise, I won''t rest in peace."
The police officers could see through Nathan''s emotion. They knew this family''s affairs too. Therefore,
they sighed and replied, "Jodie must be taken away. This is arson, thus she must be sentenced. We''ll
check if the other residents are affected now. The rough estimate of losses and damages will be
announcedter. By that time, your family will definitely have topensate the neighbors."
"Compensate?" Nathan was stunned and his countenance changed. They did not have much savings.
"Why, yes." The police pointed to the situation inside and exined, "Look, the smoke is billowing and
the fire has caused a great loss. Your neighbors have alle out of the house. We don''t know what
the exact situation is inside."
"Nathan!" Pearlyn, who was on tenterhooks too, eximed. Everything was gone; just like Jodie who
has be something she barely recognized now, their house was gone too. Yet, they still had a huge
Pearlyn said sorrowfully, "We cannot afford to pay thepensation. We simply just can''t!"
"Puff!" Nathan spat out a mouthful of blood and in the blink of an eye, he copsed.
"Mr. Lawson!" The policeman yelled as he rushed to help him up.
However, it was toote.
Nathan had already fallen onto the ground.
Blood gushed out of his mouth. He looked at Jodie with eyes wide opened, as she stood there with an
indifferent expression painted across her face.
He reached out his hand and made a grabbing gesture in the air to no avail before his hands went
weak and fell to his side.
"Nathan!" Pearlyn screamed loudly.
Nathan''s head tilted and he stopped breathing.
A frightened Pearlyn wailed as she held him in her arms.
Queenie stepped forward, bent down and checked Nathan''s breathing, but that had already stopped.
"Pearlyn, Nathan has already passed away. Please ept my condolences," she said in a low voice.
Startled and unable toe back to her senses, tears rolled down Pearlyn''s cheeks.
Jodie too was rather stunned as she looked at Nathan, whose eyes were still wide open with his hand
reaching out to her.
Although stunned by the scene that had unfolded before her, she turned her face away and asked the
police indifferently, "Can we go to the police station already?"
Hearing this, Queenie stood up abruptly and rushed toward Jodie.
She pped Jodie hard on the face twice then rebuked her in fury, "How can you be so inhumane?
Your father is dead yet you''re still unaffected."
Pearlyn, who had heard Jodie''s curses, got up from the ground at once and ran to her. Then, she
pped her.
Jodie lifted her legs and kicked her while cursing, "You''re an old b*stard too. Go and die with your
man."
Pearlyn fell to the ground and looked at Jodie in dismay.
On one hand was her dead husband, but the other was her rebellious daughter. She couldn''t help but
burst into tears.
Pearlyn, who had heard Jodie''s curses, got up from the ground at once and ran to her. Then, she
pped her.
"You are not human. That person is your father. How can you just stand by and watch him die?"
Pearlyn shouted. She was in disbelief that Jodie would do such a thing.
"Take her away and send her to the detention center," shouted the policeman furiously.
