Chapter 464
In the private room.
While Grace waited for Old Master Carte to take his seat, she remained standing in the private room to
show him respect.
Something shed through Old Master Carter''s eyes when he noticed Grace''s behavior.
Without saying a word, the Old Master fixed his eyes on Grace.
His stare made the hair on the back of Grace''s neck stand.
She knew that Old Master Carter was no ordinary person. He was a person of high status and had
been a soldier his entire life. Rumors said that he had a bad temper.
Grace thought that it was normal for someone who had served in the army to have a bad temper.
Since he was senior to her, Grace had to act ordingly. The old man didn''t ask her to sit down.
Hence, she just stood there, waiting for his instruction.
There could only be one reason why Old Master Carte hade to see her. It was either to warn her
or to ask her to leave Heinz.
Old Master Carter looked at Grace who had a smile on her face. She wasn''t impatient or hasty; she
remained standing.
There was a glimmer of approval in his eyes, but his voice betrayed no emotions as he said calmly,
"Please take a seat, Miss Smith."
"Thank you," After expressing her thanks, she sat down. "Mr. Carter, what can I do for you? Just tell me
honestly."
"You are such a straightforward person," Old Master Carter said in a low voice. "Then I''ll be frank with
you."
"Just let me know," Grace said. "I''ll pay close attention."
"I think you should know why I am here," Old Master Carte said.
After hesitating for a while, Grace said, "You want me to leave Heinz, don''t you?"
He was very surprised.
A look of surprise appeared on Old Master Carter''s face as he looked at her. The girl in front of him
seemed calm andposed, as if she was not afraid of him.
It was really rare.
Just by meeting her once, Old Master Carter knew that Grace had a better character than ris
Hudson.
s, she did not have a good family background.
Old Master Carter nodded slightly. "Since you already know that I want you to leave Heinz, what do you
think of it? Give me a quick answer."
Looking at the old man staring calmly at her, it was not clear to Grace what his true purpose was at that
moment
Did she want to leave Heinz?
Of course not.
Pursing her lips, she smiled. Then, she said, "I''m sorry, Mr. Carter. That is something I cannot do."
"You are not Heinz''s match," Old Master Carter bluntly spat.
Grace nodded, "Well, in the eyes of others, or rather in the eyes of elders like you, I indeed fall far from
the wife you want Heinz to have."
Old Master Carter raised his brow and said with a smile, "You do know your ce."
Grace also smiled. "That''s obvious."
"What do you think, then?" Old Master Carter could sense that Grace was not done speaking.
"I think my thoughts don''t matter," Grace said. She clearly understood that she would never be worthy
to marry Heinz in the eyes of those people.
However, that did not mean that she thought the same.
Nevertheless, she was still very upset. She had always known that marrying into a rich and powerful
family would never be easy.
Old Master Carter smiled and said, "I still want to know what you think."
"I don''t think I''m worse than Heinz," Grace did not shy away from the topic. She spoke her mind freely,
"Perhaps in your eyes, my family background, my education and my upation is far from what you
would expect to see in a granddaughter-inw. You may think that only a girl like Miss Hudson is
worthy of Heinz, but I don''t think so."
Old Master Carter''s eyes were fixed on Grace''s eyes, unblinking. He stared intently at her, as if he was
trying to locate her source of confidence.
"Do you think you are very excellent?" Old Master Carter asked.
"No," Grace shook her head. "I''m not excellent, but I''m not that bad either."
"You don''t seem confident enough," Old Master Carter pointed out sharply. "You''re not as confident as
you im to be."
Her heart throbbed. Indeed, her education level could not bepared to Heinz''s and her family was
not powerful. The only thing she had was a strong heart.
There seemed to be nothing else.
"Why aren''t you speaking?" Seeing that she didn''t say anything, Old Master Carter looked at her and
said, "Is there nothing else you want to say?"
"If belittling me satisfies you, I''m fine with it," Grace said with a smile. "My heart is strong enough to
withstand your words."
"I haven''t said anything unpleasant yet," said Old Master Carter. He sat with a proper posture, making
him look very serious.
His presence was simply oppressive.
Grace just said with a smile, "You can say something unpleasant. I don''t mind that. I''ve heard many
awful words."
Old Master Carter was stunned. He frowned and said, "Then, you''re shameless."
Taken aback, Grace smiled. She looked at Old Master Carterand nodded. "Only a shameless person
can be in the same boat as Heinz. Otherwise, I''ll fall off the boat myself before others say anything
about me. If that''s the case, I''ll be even more useless."
"Humph," Old Master Carter snorted. "I didn''t expect you to say that. Are you really going to be with
Heinz in the future?"
"I''m just telling the truth," Grace said. "I won''t leave unless I want to or Heinz tells me to."
"So, my words have no effect?" Old Master Carter asked in a deep voice, "Is that what you are
saying?"
After hesitating for a while, Grace nodded and said, "Yes, Mr. Carter, I''m sorry."
"You don''t look like you''re sorry," Old Master Carter said in a low voice. "And you look like you''re very
determined. You don''t even care about me."
"You think too much," Grace smiled and said. "Of course I care about you. You are the powerful Mr.
Carter. You were also very powerful back in the days."
"However, I am stubborn. When I am sure of something, I won''t change my mind or leave unless the
other party asks me to. No matter what others say, I won''t change my mind," Grace said.
She smiled at Old Master Carter.
"You have no respect for me," Old Master Carter said in a low voice. "Don''t think that I don''t know."
"If you insist, then so be it. Since I don''t respect you, so what you said is useless," After careful
consideration, she decided to speak bluntly. "Don''t try to make me leave Heinz."
"Oh, you''re finally showing your true colours and your cunning schemes. You just want to hang on to
Heinz," Old Master Carter said.
"Well, I am honored that you think I am cunning," Grace smiled and said.
Irked, he frowned in response, "Shame on you."
"Thank you for thepliment," Grace said.
The old man frowned, looked at Grace, and said in a low voice, "You really are a shameless woman."
Grace did not respond. She kept the smile on her face.
At that moment, a waiter brought in the dishes.
The waiter came in.
Neither of them spoke.
After the dishes were served, the butler left. There were only the two of them left.
Old Master Carter nced at the dishes on the table and was very dissatisfied. He said, "These are
vegetarian dishes. Who ordered them?"
Grace said, "It''s your butler who ordered the dishes."

Old Master Carter was speechless.
"I know you don''t like me, but you don''t have to take your anger out on the dishes," Grace said. "After
eating this meal, we can go our separate ways and never meet again. If we can do that, you won''t be
angered by the sight of me."
