Although Heinz realized that Grace had misunderstood him, he couldn''t bring himself to rify the

    matter to her.

Things were progressing well, he was afraid that the moment he opened his mouth, he would mess

things up and cause Grace to leave in sorrow.

However, if he kept quiet, he didn''t know how long they could keep this up.

Heinz pursed his lips and looked at Grace. Then, he said in a deep voice, "Grace, you just need to

remember that you have to trust me at all times. Believe in my love for you."

Grace was startled at his heartfelt words and lifted her eyes to look at him subconsciously. She said,

"You''re very strange. You have repeated these words many times. Don''t you think you''re being long-

    winded?"

Heinz pursed his lips awkwardly. He lowered his head and said, "I''m afraid that you won''t believe me in

future and might leave me if anything happens."

Grace shook her head and said, "Heinz, as long as you don''t deceive me or betray me, as long as you

don''t cross the line, we won''t break up easily."

"Grace," Heinz said as his heart skipped a beat. His sorrow was indescribable.

"Hmm?" Grace asked as she looked at him again.

Just then, the phone suddenly rang.

Both of them were surprised by that. Then, Heinz looked at the phone and realized that it was his

    phone that rang.

He picked up the phone and said, "Sorry, I''ll answer the phone call."

    "Okay," Grace replied.

"Lester?" Heinz said on the phone.

"President, Mr. Lawson is suddenly ill. He is in bad health," Lester said quickly.

"Right now?" Heinz suddenly stiffened and asked, "How did he fall sick?"

"He was foaming at the mouth." Lester reported in a very urgent tone, "His condition looks very serious.

He was convulsing on the floor when we arrived."

"Have you sent him to the hospital?" Heinz asked as he stood up with a serious and concerned look on

    his face.

"We are on our way there," Lester said.

"Okay, I''lle right away," Heinz said and hung up the phone.

Then, he looked at Grace and felt extremely apologetic toward her. He said, "Sorry, Grace. I have to

    rush to the hospital now."

"What''s wrong?" Grace asked when she sensed that the situation was urgent, "Has something

    happened to your friend''s parents?"

    "Yes," Heinz said.

"Then, you''ve better go quickly," Grace ushered him.

"Go and attend to him immediately. I''m alright. Don''t worry."

"Thank you," Heinz said and gave her a quick hug. Then, he took his coat and left.

Grace looked at the bowl of noodles opposite her. He had only eaten a few mouthfuls of it due to

    worries.

It seemed that the situation was serious.

She was the only one left in the house. It was so quiet and boring.

Soon, she quietly finished her bowl of noodles and started to do some house chores.

Two hours had passed when she was done.

There was no phone call from Heinz.

Therefore, she didn''t know how the situation was at the moment.

She took out her phone. She wanted to give him a call to ask about the situation, but she was afraid to

disturb him. So, she put down her phone.

After a while, she picked it up again to call Alex.

"Miss Smith," Alex answered the phone call quickly.

"How are Little Gary and Ernest?" she asked.

"Don''t worry. They are both fine," he assured. "We went to the amusement park after lunch. Now, we''re

ready to go for a movie," Alex reported.

"The children are happy, aren''t they?" she asked again.

"They are very happy," Alex replied.

"Okay, then I''m relieved,” Grace replied, feeling a little more rxed.

"Little Gary wants to talk to you," he informed her.

Then, Little Gary''s voice came from the other side, "Mommy, we are fine. Don''t worry."

"Little Gary, be careful. Understand?" Grace reminded him. After all, he was only five years old. No

matter how smart he was, he was still a child.

"Mommy, don''t worry. I will take good care of Ernest and myself. We won''t go back tonight. I will go

over to Ernest''s ce to y today," said Little Gary.

"Okay," she replied. Grace had never allowed her son to stay overnight in someone else''s ce.

However, when she saw how excited her son was, she couldn''t bear to disappoint him, so she had

    allowed him to go.

The little guy was very happy and said, "Thank you, Mommy."

    "You''re wee," Grace replied.

After hanging up the phone, Grace sat on the sofa in a daze for a while. Then, she went back to her

    work.

At nine o''clock in the evening.

A long while after dinner, she looked at her watch and realized that it was already veryte. She

wondered what was happening on Heinz''s side.

She picked up her phone and sent a message to Heinz.

"How are things? Is the Uncle okay? Is his condition still critical?" she asked.

Concurrently, Heinz was still in the hospital. It had been five or six hours since Jodie''s father had

entered the operating room. The operation took longer than usual.

Both Heinz and Lester had been waiting outside the operation room. Pearlyn was also admitted due to

high blood pressure after being too worried about her husband''s condition.

At that moment, Chief Stone was apanying her cousin, Pearlyn.

Lester watched Heinz, lowering his head and stared at his phone with his thin lips pressed tightly

    together and looking worried.

Lester said, "President, don''t worry. We''ve hired the best doctor."

    Heinz remained silent.

He stared at his phone and was still lost in thought.

"Why don''t you go back and have a rest first?" Lester spoke again, "I''ll keep watch here and make sure

nothing goes wrong. If anything happens, I''ll immediately give you a call."

"No," Heinz replied in a deep voice. Then, he took out his phone and typed a message quickly, "The

operation is ongoing. You should rest early. Don''t worry."

When Grace received the message, she was dumbfounded. It had been a long time since the uncle

was sent to the hospital in the afternoon. Yet he was still undergoing surgery, it seemed that his

    condition was very dire.

She understood Heinz''s meaning. The night was a critical period for the uncle, so Heinz would not

    She understood the situation now.

At nine o''clock, Grace took out her medicine so that she could consume itter.

At 10:30 p.m., she swallowed the medicine. She tried to ignore the bitter aftertaste.

After washing up, shey on the bed but was not sleepy.

She stayed that way until two hours past midnight.

    Then, she finally fell asleep.

That night, Alice and Little Gary didn''t return home.

Early the next morning, Grace got up to go downstairs to buy some groceries. But as soon as she

arrived downstairs, she saw Heinz''s car parked downstairs.

She was astonished. When had he returned? she thought to herself.

Looking at the raindrops dew on the car, she guessed that he must have been here for a while.

Since he hade, why didn''t he go upstairs?

Grace walked over and saw that the car door was locked. The car was tinted with thick safety films so

she couldn''t see the inside of the car.

She could only see through it when she ced her face close to the tinted ss window. She saw

Heinz leaning ufortably against the driver''s seat and was sleeping.

She could see the greenish veins on his eyelids. He looked extremely haggard and tired.

Grace didn''t know how long he had slept in that ufortable position.

Perhaps he hade in the early morning and didn''t want to wake her up since she would probably be

asleep at that hour, so he didn''t go upstairs.

Grace sighed in her heart. His thoughtfulness made her feel a little distressed.

After hesitating for a moment, Grace knocked on the car''s window. The person inside the car suddenly

    woke up.

It was as if he had just woken up from a nightmare. His eyes were filled with fear.

Grace knocked on the car''s window again.

Only then did Heinz realize what was going on. His body stiffened as he straightened himself up quickly

    before opening the car''s door.

When Grace looked into his eyes, she saw that they were red and bloodshot. He must be tried from the

    night before.

She immediately took out her house key. However, on second thought, she didn''t pass it to him.

"Why did you sleep downstairs?" she asked in concern. "You should have gone upstairs to sleep. It

must have been very ufortable to sleep in the car."
