Chapter 1871
The chief of police was named Gabe Wholeton. He used to be Rose’s subordinate and had followed
Rose into war with Rebbeca.
Gabe’s time with Rose was shorter than Rebbeca’s, but not because he cameter. Gabe had followed
Rose earlier than Rebbeca. However, he was severely wounded in a battle five years ago. After
recovering from his injuries, he was ill-suited to fight in war. Therefore, Gabe withdrew from the front
line and returned to within the borders.
Later, Rose stopped contacting Gabe due to the tension of the war. Unexpectedly, he ended up
working as the chief of police in Midwich.
When they saw Gabe from afar, Rose and Rebbeca recognized him immediately.
“Just address me as mister. This isn’t the army after all,” Rose said to Gabe with a chuckle.
Gabe nodded and asked, “Mr. Anderson, what’s going on? Why do you have a conflict with Jonathan,

the heir of the Jensen family?”
Before Rose could exin, Rebbeca said, “Need I say more? Jonathan insulted this old man and even
got his bodyguard to beat him on the train. We couldn’t stand by, so we stopped him. But not only is he
unrepentant, but he also used the Jensen family name to threaten us. I’m unwilling to let that go, of
course…”
After hearing Rebbeca’s exnation, Gabe red coldly at Jonathan.
Then he said, “Mr. Anderson, Rebbeca, don’t worry. I will take this b*stard back and educate him. I
promise I’ll teach him a good lesson.”
One could tell from the emphasis on the word “Good” in Gabe’s sentence that it meant something else.
Jonathan and his bodyguard, Troy, both pinned to the ground by the policemen, instantly looked
rmed when they heard Gabe’s words. After all, as the chief of police, Gabe had a reputation in
Midwich for being a demon.
Whatever difficult or arrogant man woulde out meek after entering the police department. Besides
that, they would shake with fear at the mere mention of Gabe. Thus, Rose could guess Gabe’s
methods from that!
Gabe said he would take care of Jonathan and Troy and make sure they had a “good” lesson. It would
be strange if Jonathan and Troy were not afraid!
“U-Uncle Gabe, you’re friends with my dad, Fernando. Y-You can’t arrest me! If you arrest me, my
father won’t let the matter rest easily…”
Gabe nced back coldly at Jonathan and said bluntly, “He won’t let the matter rest easily? Ha, how
arrogant. I’d like to see how your father is going to pursue it. I insist on arresting you today!”
Then Gabe ordered his men, “Take these two back. Don’t let them go no matter who pleads for mercy
for them!”
“Yes!”
The police officers instantly followed Gabe’s orders. They put Jonathan and Troy in a police car and
drove toward their headquarters.
When the others had left, Gabe said to Rose, “Mr. Anderson, you might not know, but I’m not the only
one in Midwich. Derrick and Benji are here too.”
Derrick Crate and Benji Liamson were also Rose’s men. However, unlike Gabe, Derrick and Benji did
not retire because of injury. It was because they could not bear the hardship of war, so they applied to
retire from the army.
Therefore, Derrick and Benji had no face to see Rose and lost contact with Rose after retiring from the
army.
