Chapter 1990
Lily had previously attempted to break the windows, causing a lot ofmotion, but she barely left a
scratch. She could not even make a crack, and the people outside did not even bother checking on her.
It indicated they were confident she could not escape through the windows. After struggling for a while,
she only managed to exhaust herself and work up a sweat, with no other effect.
Fortunately, a clock was in the room to allow her to keep track of time. Initially, Lily was not in a hurry,
thinking someone woulde to her. However, three days had passed, and there was no sign of
activity.
Every day was the same, besides hers and her little ones’ increasing restlessness. Lily paced around
the room continuously as she could not leave. Her body felt heavy, and her movements became
sluggish. If she were to try anything, she would not have much chance of escaping.
"I want to see your boss!" Lily opened the door and stood at the entrance, addressing the two guards.
As she expected, they remained as unresponsive as before. They did not even nce at her.
It was evident they had received orders. They ignored everything Lily said unless instructed otherwise.
"Let me repeat myself. I want to see your boss!" She ced a hand on her abdomen, her brows
furrowed. "I might...go into prematurebor!"
After speaking, she palmed the doorframe and slowly crouched down. She could not squat down fully

due to her swollen belly. Finally, the two guards reacted. They turned to look at Lily, observing her pale
She was enduring tremendous pain, which did not seem like an act. Moreover, the two guards would
be in trouble if something happened to Lily.
The guards quickly exchanged a nce andmunicated silently. One of them stayed behind while
the other hurriedly walked away.
Lily was unsure how they wouldmunicate with their superiors. She had assumed it would be
through a walkie-talkie or a phone call, but she did not expect them to leave to deliver the message.
It also showed that the people behind the scenes must be nearby, or at least not far from here. She
slowly turned around and walked toward the sofa in the room. Then she plopped on the sofa, leaning to
one side, appearing in great pain.
‘It’s an unavoidable strategy. It might be the only way to attract someone’s attention. I wouldn’t even
have a chance to negotiate, let alone escape, if I don’t see anyone.’
After about ten minutes, she heard hurried footsteps, sounding somewhat chaotic. There were at least
three or four people. Lily covered her belly with one hand and lightly grasped the side of the sofa with
the other. Then she nced toward the door from the corner of her eye.
Shortly after, the guard who had left earlier returned apanied by a few other people.
Lily''s spirits lifted, but her face showed even more pain. She furrowed her brows and fixed her gaze on
the approaching individuals, trying to see who they were.
‘Who are they? Are they the masterminds behind this? Will they turn out to be as I had imagined?’
