Chapter 1897
On the second day, Alexander learned that the situation was far less optimistic than he had imagined.
Dominic had fallen unconscious.
Early the following day, Austin went to cook porridge and served it to Dominic. However, Austin noticed
his granduncle’s face was unnaturally red when he got upstairs. He seemed to be in a deep sleep and
could not wake up.
When Austin touched his granduncle''s forehead, it was burning hot. He quickly took a thermometer to
check on Dominic; the thermometer read 102 degrees. If it were just a regr fever, Austin would have
given Dominic some antipyretics, but that was not the case.
‘Who knows how the symbiote will react to the antipyretics? It might cause a reaction.’
Therefore, Austin could only try to physically cool Dominic by wiping his body repeatedly. After some
time, his body temperature dropped a little, but he was still unconscious.
Alexander came over to take a look, but he could note up with any better solutions either. He even
considered sending Dominic to a doctor.
To avoid spreading the disease, Alexander thought he could send Dominic to a private hospital or invite
a doctor to the house. However, this seemed to be out of a general practitioner''s league.
At noon, Cameron called to check on Alexander’s whereabouts. After a few seconds of silence,
Alexander said, "I''m afraid I can''t go there for the time being."
Then he roughly exined the situation, not hiding anything from Cameron.
Cameron had his status, so he could ess many confidential things. He also knew about this
mysterious organization but did not expect Rhea to be a part of it. On top of that, he had been poisoned
before. He was the one who had experienced the power of this organization out of everyone else.
Cameron listened to Alexander patiently, and after a moment of silence, he said, "I see. Is there
anything I can do to help?"
"Not yet." Alexander paused. "However, if possible, can you send someone to monitor the situation in
the nearest city to ensure the virus doesn''t spread? Of course, it''s not just the virus. The organization is
studying many things. I don''t know what other viruses there are."
"I know, but…"
Hearing the hesitation in Cameron''s voice, Alexander asked, "What is it?"
"Their main target right now is probably the vine base," Cameron muttered slowly after a long
pause.
Alexander fell silent. He could also guess that. After all, the organization spent so much effort drugging
Cameron and controlling him to change the project''s trajectory. Of course, it was not as simple as just
making Fabian rich.
Besides using the vine base as a ce to conduct their vicious experimental research grandly, the
ultimate goal was to spread the virus through the vine sessfully. The thought of viruses
spreading through vines caused goosebumps in everyone.
Alexander cleared his throat and spoke in a deep voice. "We have people at the vine base too.
We''ll keep an eye on the situation. As for those outside, I''ll leave it to you for now."
"It''s my responsibility," Cameron replied without hesitation, "Are you doing alright?"
"I''m okay for now. Could you arrange for a doctor toe over if possible?" Alexander asked after
thinking about it.
Austin, who passed by, looked at him and said, "There''s no need for that."
Alexander did not answer.
