    Chapter 273

"Are you referring to the guy who ys the ghost?" The nurse asked.

    Mia nodded, "Yes."

The nurse gave her a number, "41."

Mia thanked her and walked into the ward with her gift.

It was the end of the year, and the hospital was practically deserted as most people chose to leave

before the year-end. Nobody wanted to spend Christmas in a hospital; it was bad luck.

The worker was pretty unlucky. He could have been home for Christmas but ended up in here. Mia

nced into the room from the doorway. It was empty. She knocked and walked in. The worker was a

man, lying in bed with an IV drip in one arm and watching a horror movie on his phone with the other.

Seeing Mia, he was startled and almost dropped his phone on his face. He swore, then clutched his

    nket tightly.

Seeing his reaction, Mia quickly raised her hands, "Don''t be scared, I''m not here to hit you, really."

He would never forget the tourist who judo-flipped him!

Mia walked up with the fruit basket and ced it on the table. The man was startled and gripped the

nurse call button tightly. If anyone tried to attack him, he''d be ready to call for help. He was a tall guy,

standing at 6’3”, but he still seemed a bit flustered seeing Mia.

"I came to apologize." Mia said, taking out some money from her pocket and cing it next to his

pillow, "I''m sorry for injuring you."

    She even bowed.

Christmas wasing, everyone was going home. But because of her, he was in the hospital. She felt

guilty. If he was a bad guy, it would be one thing to hit him. However, he was just doing his job, and he

was really good at ying a ghost.

Thinking about it, she felt bad and wanted to apologize in person and give him somepensation.

The worker was speechless. This was the first time he had met such a tourist. She hit him the hardest,

yet she was the first to visit him in the hospital and even gave him money.

"Um, I ept your apology." The worker put down the call button.

He looked at the girl in front of him, and Mia also curiously looked at him. They sized each other up.

The worker looked at Mia. She seemed to be still a student, petite and cute. Her innocent face didn''t

match the image of someone who could throw a 140 pounds man to the ground.

It was dark in the room that day, he was focused on scaring people and didn''t get a good look at her.

Mia also observed the man in the bed. How did he manage to float around in the air, dressed in red and

screaming at the same time? She always thought ghosts were yed by women.

The man in the bed spoke up first, "If you don''t mind me asking, are you a physical education student?"

How else could a girl take down three grown men on her own?

Mia shook her head, "I also have a question."

She looked at him, "You''re clearly a man, why do you y a female ghost?"

"I like the job." The worker said.

Mia said, "Your hobby is quite unique."

The man introduced himself, "My name is Michael."

Mia also told him her name, "I''m Mia."

His IV was almost empty, and the nurse came in to change it. Mia sat on the empty bed next to him and

    asked, "Where is your family?"

    "They''re at home." Michael said.

Mia said, "You''re really good at chatting."

    "So are you." Michael retorted.

Their conversation was awkward at first, but eventually, they hit it off.

"Michael, how do you float in the air and hang from the ceiling?" Mia asked.

Michael replied, "If I tell you, won''t you steal my job?"

"Pfft, who would want to scare people for a living." Mia didn''t ask anymore, probably because it

involved his secrets, "Do you guys get beaten up a lot in this job?"

Finally having someone to chat with, Michael was more talkative, "Yes. There was a girl who yed a

ghost and scared a boxing coach. He kicked her so hard that she injured her womb. Now, our industry

is mostly male. At least we can take a few hits."

When he finished, Michael looked at Mia, "I think you''d be perfect for this job!"

"How much is the pay?" Mia asked.

    "A thousand dors." Michael said.

Mia said, "I''m not interested, the pay is too low." She made several hundred thousand a month taking

    care of her husband.

Michael said, "You may not know, but not many college graduates can make a thousand dors a

    month."

Mia said, "I''m a rich housewife, I make several hundred thousand a month."

"You''re exaggerating." Michael didn’t believe her.

Michael was a bit older than Mia, and he was just starting to work. He told Mia, "This isn''t the first time

I''ve been hit. I''m too scary, so I always get beaten up. But you''re the first one to visit me, apologize and

    give me money."

Mia and Michael hit it off, she didn''t even notice the messages from her husband on her phone. "Don''t

you think it''s immoral to scare people for a living? What if you scare someone with a heart condition to

death? And then their ghost haunts you every day, isn''t that scary?" Mia said.

Michael got goosebumps from her words, "If you can''t say something nicely, then don''t speak at all.

What are the odds of that happening?"

"There are such odds. It just hasn''t happened to you yet, but it''s happened to me twice. Michael, I

sincerely suggest that you tone down the scares. Otherwise, you might as well get a membership card

at the hospital. Scare people during the day and stay in the hospital at night." Mia said.

Michael didn''t know what to say.

Mia got Michael a cup of water and put it on the bedside table. Michael said awkwardly, "Actually, we

don''t usually scare people that much. That day, you guys came so early, we were bored and decided to

    scare you."

Normally there was one "ghost" per room. After scaring someone, theyy down and y dead. But

that day when the three of them came, they were bored and decided to scare them all together. As a

result, they were the ones who ended up unlucky.

Mia was taken aback, "So you intentionally made us even more scared?"

Being an honest person, Michael nodded right away.

Mia clenched her fist, and Michael immediately hit the nurse call button.

Seeing him lying helplessly in bed, Mia moved all the fruit and drinks from his table to a stool at the end

of his bed. That way, if he wanted to eat or drink something, he would have to get out of bed to get it.

"Mia, is that something a nice person would do?" Michael asked.

Mia retorted back, "Is scaring us something a nice person would do?"

"We''re just ying ghost here." Michael said.

"If you keepining, I swear I''ll turn you into a real ghost. You believe me?" Mia threatened him.

Michael was silenced by Mia''s fist. All he wanted now was to get rid of her.

He handed Mia the three thousand dors on the bedside table, "Your family has already

Mia put the money down, "It''s just a small token from me."

He didn''t want to ept it, but Mia was fit and nimble. She went straight to put the money into his bag

and ced it at the foot of his bed.

Michael said to her, "You''re really persistent."

Then, Mia''s phone rang. She went to the corridor to answer it. "Hey, darling."
