    “Seriously, an uncle that young? That’s got to be a joke!” Everyone had figured out who Charles


    was, but they were surprised by how young he looked. “Rowena, what are you trying to say? Do


    you mean he doesn’t really see Winter as family?”


    Rowena smirked and said, “I didn’t say anything. I don’t know a thing!”


    Winter and Xavier moved on to toast with a few more tables. Winter had had a little too much to


    drink and was wobbling, so she leaned against Xavier, looped her arm through his, and snuggled


    up to him. ” Xavier, aren’t you happy?”


    Xavier felt a pang in his chest as he realized Winter was flirting with him. He gently removed her


    hand. ” There are so many people around. What are you doing?”


    Winter made a face. “It’s our wedding day, but why do I feel like you’re not happy?”


    Xavier was at his wits‘ end. “I’m just tired from saying hello to everyone all day,” he said, looking


    down at Winter, whose cheeks were rosy as if she’d had too much to drink. “Feeling sick? Let me


    help you inside to rest.”


    “Xavier, I want to…” Winter stood on her tiptoes and whispered in his ear, making his eyes go dark


    and his throat tighten. “Winter!”


    “Don’t you want this?” Winter teased, slipping her hand into his jacket. Xavier’s gaze sharpened,


    and he quickly caught her hand. “Let’s get you inside, okay?”


    Winter’s lips twisted into a sly smile. She knew Xavier could not say no to her. She knew him too


    well. As Xavier steadied Winter, they ran into Julian and Jade. “Dad, Mom, Winter’s had too much


    to drink. I’ll take her to rest for a bit. Could you please keep an eye on the guests?”


    Jade hurried over to check on Winter. “Are you okay? Don’t drink so much if you can’t handle it!”


    “I’m fine, Mom!” Winter said, moving closer to Jade. “Has he not shown up yet? Let’s introduce him


    to Noelle today. We should make it happen fast. Noelle has to end up with that guy!” Winter could


    not wait any longer.


    “Okay, okay. I’ll take care of it,” Jade said soothingly as she patted Winter’s back. She turned to


    Xavier with a serious look. “Xavier, we’re counting on you to look after Winter from now on. Please


    be good to her.”


    “Of course, Mom!” Xavier replied. After he helped Winter away, Jade faced Julian. “What are you


    staring at? Go and wee the guests!”


    “And what about you?” Julian asked. He had overheard a bit of Jade’s quiet talk with Winter. “What


    are you nning?”


    “Vitty’s son is here. I need to introduce him to Noelle,” Jade exined, heading towards Noelle’s


    table. She greeted everyone there, “Dad, Grandpa, Mr. Hoffman,” and then looked at Noelle.


    “Noelle?” “Mom!” Noelle got up and called out to Jade.


    Jade could not be too casual in front of Samuel and Sebastian, but she gave Noelle and Charles a
